A formula is an equation that performs a calculation. Like a calculator, spreadsheets can execute formulas that add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Spreadsheets use standard operators for equations.
Plus sign for addition (+)
Minus sign for subtraction (-)
Asterisk for multiplication (*)
Forward slash for division (/)
Caret for exponents (^)
When writing formulas for spreadsheets, remember that all formulas must begin with an equal sign (=). This is because the cell contains, or is equal to, the formula and its value.
Types of Charts
A chart is a tool you can use in Excel to communicate data graphically. Charts allow your audience to see the meaning behind the numbers. Spreadsheets have a variety of chart types, each with its own advantages.
Sorting Data
Sorting is a common task that allows you to change or customize the order of your spreadsheet data. For example, you could organize a list by last name, color, or payment date, making it easier to find what you are looking for.
