In this unit we will look at the word processing options available to us. The two most common tools are Microsoft Word and Google Docs. There are pros and cons to any tool. We must decide which fits our needs.

Google Docs and Microsoft Word are popular word processing programs, but other word processing programs exist.
WordPerfect dominated the market from the mid 1980s to the early 1990s and is still favored for legal offices because of its legal-specific tools.
Open source applications applications include WPS Office Free, LibreOffice Writer, Apache Open Office, SoftMaker FreeOffice.
Web-based word processors such as Office Online are a relatively new category. Google Docs is also considered a web-based word processor.
