Keyboarding is a motor skill. It requires training your fingers to respond correctly and quickly to press the correct key. Like any other physical activity, you need to practice this skill until it becomes habit. The emphasis is on proper form, not speed. The expectation is to have your hands on the home row keys, to use the proper finger for each key, and to have your wrists flat and your thumbs on the space bar. The goal is to know where the keys are without looking.
