Creative Technology Assistants: Overview
Creative Technology Assistants will develop group trainings for lab members on MML equipment, provide assistance and project consultation on the use of the MML’s creative technology and software, and help the MML Coordinators maintain our two lab locations. The Multimedia Labs are dedicated to fostering the use of technology for innovative pedagogy and creative expression. We provide the entire brown community with software, hardware, training, facilities, and support in a range of technologies including audio, video, virtual reality, 3D printing, Fine art printing, animation, digital imaging, and creative coding. This position is an opportunity to develop your skills as a trainer, workshop facilitator, and creative professional. CTAs will be given the opportunity to not just work in the MMLs, but add to our community-driven space through their own unique lens. Job Requirements:
All Creative Technology Assistants (CTAs) are expected to demonstrate competency in at least one core area within the MML (audio, video, virtual reality, 3D printing, large format printing, animation, digital imaging, and creative coding) prior to hiring. If you have more than one competency, apply through the position with your core competency. The responsibilities are as follows:
Provide trainings in their respective area of competency
Maintain regularly scheduled consultation hours, and ad-hoc appointments.
Develop workshops and resources for the Brown community in their areas of competency.
Assist MML staff in small projects and maintenance related to the labs.
Should be a motivated self-starter with excellent project management and problem solving skills.
The CTA schedule is flexible. However, interested students should anticipate spending at least 6-10 hours a week working in this position with some day-time availability.
