Position: Research Assistant

Description:  Supervise and mentor fellow research assistants for the Kanto region, research national, regional, and local policies related to COVID-19 through news articles, government websites, and embassy announcements, code policy entries into a database, analyze database completeness checks

Language Requirement: Japanese

Language Use: I read through many documents, news articles, websites, and databases in Japanese. I did some internal translations for the team as well.

Impact on Language Skills: I was exposed to more formal language, especially in official policies, laws, and news articles.

Application Process: The application at the time was a short Google doc of interests and language/country experience, as well as an exercise where you coded an example entry into a database.
