CATS members have access to a variety of resources for recording, creating, and editing audio for podcasting, music production, voice-over and more.
Audio production can take many forms, from recording classical music to creating a podcasting to experimental electronic music and art.
Many of our tools require no training and if you need help we are there.
Meet with one of our CTAs via one-on-one help session to get started on your project..
After completing our orientation, you can log in to one of our Mac workstations and begin experimenting with a variety of applications for audio production.

We has a variety of ways you can record audio!
Use our Self-Service Recording Booth in the Granoff Multimedia Lab. It fits one person comfortably and doesn't require training. Great for shorter recoridng sessions.
Our Equipment Checkout has a variety of audio recorders, some with XLR inputs for recording instruments! Requires an online training
Work with one of our Recording Assistants to access our professional recording studio in Granoff. The assistant will setup the studio and give you clean audio file at the end of your session. These sessions are limited and can not be used for long-term projects.
Utilize the Podcasting Crate in the Studio 4 Creative Production. The crate comes set up with 4 microphones for podcasting, audio interviews, etc. Training is required to access Studio 4.
We have software and midi instruments that can help you make your work come to life.
Each workstation in the Granoff Multimedia Lab has a variety of software to help you audio editing or creating music/sound:
Audacity: Easy to get start with, its great for basic audio clip editing.
Adobe Audition: Best option for podcasting and audio for video.
Reaper: A powerful audio editor that is also free
Ableton Live: A great tool for sequencing music and live performance.
Apple Logic: A popular tool (only at Self-Service Recording Booth)
Use our 61-key midi keyboard, several mini keyboards and an Ableton Push in the Granoff MML
Our Equipment Qheckout has two Akai Mini Keyboards you can take out after passing the EQ online training
CATS is a great place to experiement with sound!
In the Studio 4 Creative Production we have an 8-channel audio speaker system for playing around with experimental audio installations.
In the Physical Media Lab you can wire up your own custom electronic instruments and sound based art with our electronics station and tools.
