On Wednesday the BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team (20-5) lost to Berkeley Carroll in the NYSAIS Tournament at Grace. The Team represented BFS and the BLUE PRIDE. Game Highlights for Week of February 10th, 2020

On Monday the BFS Girls Varsity Basketball Team played in ISAL Semifinals and lost to LREI 61-31 on the road

The BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated York Prep 68-33 in the ISAL Semifinals in the lower gym. The team advances to the ISAL Championship Game on Thursday February 13th at 4:00pm versus Leman Prep at Leman Prep. The JV Panthers were in playoff action as the took on York Prep. As the #1 seed, BFS had high hopes of making it back to the championship game and winning it all. The game started out slow as both teams were feeling each other out. By the end of the first half BFS found themselves up by thirteen points. The Panthers used another great all around team effort to secure the victory as they took control in the second half. Sophomore guard Charlie B. poured in a game high 20 points and junior forward Zachary E. finished with 16 points. See you at the Championship Game on Wednesday. Blue Pride!!

On Tuesday the BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Churchill 74-55 in the ISAL Semifinals in the lower gym. The team advances to the ISAL Championship Game on Thursday February 13th at 5:45pm versus York Prep at Leman Prep. This game saw senior Finn S. score his 1,000 Point (currently has 1,012), Coach Will M. Coach his last home game at BFS, and Churchill junior Kobe R. score his 1,000 Point on the final basket of the game. Thanks to all the Fans who showed their Blue Pride!! Blue Pride Runs Deep, Friends Forever!! The BFS boys varsity basketball team faced off vs Churchill in the ISAL Semifinals at home in front of a packed gym! These 2 teams faced off in the ISAL championship back to back years. Today was a great team effort as the varsity team came away with the playoff victory. The senior trio of Finn S., Ty S., and Jack B. led the way for BFS. Finn S., scored his 1,000 point, making him the 7th player in BFS storied history to achieve such a feat. Congrats Fin!! Finn finished the game with a game high 22 points, 16 rebounds, 6 blocks, and 4 steals. Sharpshooting Ty S., scored 19 points while making 3 three pointers, and picking up 4 steals. And Jack B., returned to action, recovering from an ankle that had him out since January 10th. Jack scored 13 points, dished out 5 assists, and had 3 rebounds in his return. His brother, sophomore Alex B., scored 8 points, and picked up 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. It was the teams 10th win in a row and 19th overall. They will go for win number 20 on Thursday when they face off against York Prep in the ISAL Finals at Leman Prep. See you at the Championship Game. Blue Pride!!

On Thursday the BFS Boys & Girls Varsity Swim Team participated in the ISAL Championship Meet at Leman Prep.

The BFS Boys JV Basketball Team lost to Leman Prep 47-42 in the ISAL League Championship Game at 4:00pm at Leman Prep. Congrats to the Bulls of Leman for winning the 2020 ISAL Boys JV Basketball Championship. Thanks to all the BFS Players and Coaches on another extremely successful season. You should all be proud of your efforts. Thanks to all the fans for their support. Blue Pride!!

On Thursday the BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated York Prep 107-91 in the ISAL League Championship Game at 5:45pm at Leman Prep. BFS, 19-4, and 12-0 in league playing coming into the game was the #1 seed and they faced off against the #2 seed York Prep. The Panthers trailed the game early 7-0, but then they made an impressive run to end the first quarter leading 23-14. At halftime BFS found themselves up by 12 points with a score of 50-38. BFS owned the third quarter with a rapid pace of scoring a historic 40 total points. This was BFS' day. And Coach Will in his 15th and final season coaching at BFS, after taking over the Boys Varsity Team during the 2009-10 season was able to take it all in and enjoy the moment in front of all the BFS fans who came out to support the team. With the impressive shooting performance, especially from three point range, where the Panthers knocked down 11 treys, and a memorable dunk by recent 1000 point club member senior Finn S. the Panthers went on to score 100 points in just 3 quarters. Leading the attack for BFS was senior Finn S. who poured in a game high 34 points (2 points shy of tying his career high), which gives Finn 1,046 for his BFS career, including an awesome alley-oop dunk from senior point guard Jack B. Finn also grabbed 13 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 4 assists. Fellow senior Ty S. scored 26 points including an impressive six three pointers, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Sophomore Alex B. scored 24 points and finished with with four three pointers, 5 assists, 5 steals, and 3 rebounds. Juniors Henry L. and Mirembe M-T each chipped in and scored 11 points apiece. Jack B. scored 7 points and dished out a team high 10 assists! Senior Coby W. scored 5 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals.

All in all, it was an incredible team effort with a truly amazing offensive display. With this victory the BFS Panthers are the 2020 ISAL champions! The team also won the regular season award for best record (12-0). The team has an 11 game winning streak and holds a very impressive 20-4 overall record. The team enjoyed the moment and the experience but it is not over yet. On Saturday BFS will find out who they will play in the 2020 NYSAIS State Tournament. Next Up: TBD

Game Highlights for Week of February 3rd, 2020

On Monday the BFS Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated Elisabeth Irwin 43-42 on the road. What a great win for the team and the program. The Coaches are very proud of the team for bouncing back from last weeks tough one point loss on Friday to take a one point victory on Monday. BFS was without their starting center, Lizzy G.moved to the middle and held things down. Senior guard Nicole A., lead the team with a career high 18 points on the offensive side and extremely tough defense on the other end. BFS was down by ten points in the third quarter when the Panthers stormed back to tie the game at 32-32 at the end of the quarter. Vicky L. dropped in a key three pointer in the 4th quarter, and the players all responded to finish strong and pull out the thrilling victory on the road against a very strong opponent. Cyrah J. was instrumental at the power forward position. Fadila S. was back in action and a stalwart on defense. This seasons newcomers Ava C., Maya E., Sarah J., and Willa U. all stepped up and provided stellar play. The game came down to a final pass in the lane for Franka M-T who dropped in a basket to put BFS up by one point with 14 seconds remaining. And the Panthers held on for the exciting win. The BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Elisabeth Irwin 60-39 in the lower gym. The JV Panthers were back in action to tip off the week. There was much on the line for today's game as BFS was playing for #1 seed and the regular season championship and their opponent LREI was playing for the final league playoff berth. The game was a landslide starting from the 1st quarter as BFS jumped to an early lead and never looked back. Led by guard Bryce K who scored 12 of his 18 points in the first nine minutes of the game. This was a all around team victory as EVERYONE scored and recorded at least one point in the scorebook. Let's congratulate the JV Panthers on being back to back regular season champions. The team finished with a very impressive 11-1 ISAL league record. Playoffs are next week. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Elisabeth Irwin 84-42 on the road. The team faced off against league opponent LREI. Both teams are in the top four seedings in the league. The Panthers came away with a wire to wire victory and picked up their eighth straight victory (second 8 game winning streak of the season). Leading the way for BFS was senior standout Finn S. who had another incredible performance of 30 points, 12 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 assists, and 2 blocks. Way to go Finn. Supporting Finn were sophomore Alex B. who finished with 13 points, 10 steals, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. And junior big man Nicholas M. who scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Senior Ty S. scored 9 points, had 8 rebounds, and picked up 3 assists. And fellow senior Coby W., scored 8 points and had 3 steals. The panthers are currently playing their best basketball of the season and have a very impressive 16-4 overall record, while going undefeated at 12-0 in league play. Way to go team! Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Bay Ridge Prep 47-41 on the road. The end of the season is inching closer for the Panthers as they came into this game with only two ISAL league games left on their schedule. This game was a battle between the two Brooklyn Schools. The Panthers were in for a tough one, Bay Ridge had a couple of bigger players who weren’t afraid to drive the ball to the hoop, and they had some shooters who could pull up and take the three point shot. In addition, the Bay Ridge defense was forcing the Panthers to put up some tough contested shots under the hoop that weren’t rolling in for BFS. At the half BFS found themselves down ten points with a score of 27-17. The Panthers came out pressing in the second half to try and catch Bay Ridge Prep off guard and it seemed to do just that. BRP struggled to bring the ball up court and was forced to play a much more fast paced offense than it had to in the first half. The defense along with crisp passing and working for better shots saw the momentum swing in the Panthers favor. They out scored BRP by ten in the third quarter to tie the game with one quarter remaining. The boys had to dig deep during the final seven minutes of play. Determined to not lose another league game Teddy B., Cal S., Oliver G., Jake R., and Santi M. took it upon themselves to close out this game. Jake nailed 3 three pointers in the final quarter. Along with stellar defense and passing from everyone else. The Panthers gritted out this win in Bay Ridge and took home the "W" with the impressive come from behind road victory. The Panthers final ISAL league game is Wednesday in the BFS Lower Gym. Come out and show your support! Blue Pride!!

On Tuesday the BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Saint Ann's 88-75 in the lower gym. It was the teams last regular season home game. BFS trailed by as much as 16 points to start the first quarter. The senior duo of Finn S. and Ty S. led the way in scoring along with sophomore Alex B., as they combined for a total 76 of BFS' 88 points. Finn scored 30 points, pulled down 17 rebounds, had 4 blocks, and picked up 4 steals. Ty and Alex each scored 23 points, and Alex had 5 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists. Junior M-T scored 4 points, and contributed with 7 assists, 6 steals, and 4 rebounds. Senior Coby W. scored 6 points and had 5 assists. Blue Pride!!

2/6/20

On Wednesday the BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Rudolf Steiner 51-32 in the lower gym. It was the teams last league game in the lower gym. The Panthers were determined to end league play on a high note and came out with a determination to take home the "W". Despite only having 12 guys on the bench tonight, a drastic change from the usual 20 players, the boys played hard and gave an all out hustle performance from the tip to the final whistle. The Panthers found themselves up 25-10 at half. The second half saw much more of the same. Lock down defense from the Panthers and a few timely shots from Cal S. and Jake M. helped BFS pull away with the victory, their 6th win in a row. The Panthers finished league play with an 8-2 record is the ISAL League and currently have a 12-4 overall record. There are three games left on the teams schedule and the Panthers would love to continue this momentum right through to the end of the season. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated Bay Ridge Prep 42-7 on the road. The team picked up its 8th win of the season, second in a row and third in the last four games (only loss was a one point loss on Friday 1/31/20). The Panthers got off to very a quick start and held on for the league victory. The freshmen players ran the offense and got valuable minutes of playing time in order to build their skills and gain more on court game time experience. Way to go freshmen Ava C., Maya E. Sarah J., Amelia S., and Willa U. And of course the rest of the team. Blue Pride!!

2/7/20

On Thursday the BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Martin Luther 64-56 in the lower gym. The JV Panthers closed out the regular season. BFS had high expectations for a strong finish against a quality opponent, it was a close game as both teams came ready to pay and competed. The Panthers never trailed in the game but found it difficult to pull away and gain a large lead. Martin Luther was resilient and kept the game close all the way through the final quarter. It was another all around team effort that helped BFS pull through and pick up the victory closing out the regular season and heading into the playoffs. Led by guards Charlie B. who finished with 18 points, Judah B. who had 17 points, and Xavier G. knocked down some clutch free throws at the end of this game to helped the Panthers and secure the win on their home court. The BFS MS Girls Basketball Team defeated Friends Seminary 18-13 at Grace Church in their invitational tournament. It was a battle of the Quakers. And Friends came out on top. The Panthers traveled to the Grace Church gymnasium looking to get back on the winning track after suffering a loss the previous day in the inaugural Grace Church invitational event. Matched against friendly Quaker rivals, Friends Seminary, the Panthers seemed focused and fully prepared to take control of the game while displaying the utmost sportspersonship. The game was a defensive battle throughout the first half, as both teams created turnovers from steals and blocked shots. Initially, it seemed as both Friends' schools knew each others plays and tendencies on the court. Going into halftime, the score was 4-3 with BFS taking the slight lead. After encouragement and support from all of the Panthers teammates, BFS took the court in the second half ready to pull ahead. After many opportunities on the offensive end, the Panthers eventually scored on numerous occasions and ended the game with a five point victory. The team is looking forward to their final game on Friday where they will walk down the street to take on neighborhood rival Packer. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated French American School of NY 69-39 in Westchester. BFS Senior Finn Stubbs is currently 10 point away from the historic 1,000 mark. Sophomore Alex B. had a complete performance as he recorded a historic quadruple double finishing the game with 18 points, 10 assists, 10 steals, and 11 rebounds. Way to go Alex. Blue Pride!! The BFS Boys & Girls Varsity Squash Team participated in a Match versus Avenues at Eastern Athletic Club. BFS lost 1-6, but our players were excellent sports as always. They have really improved during the course of the season and are excited to continue to grow as squash players. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys & Girls Varsity Swim Team participated in a Meet at Leman Prep Pool. The team competed with great success. Close competitions led to great improvements and best times from team captain Loanne B. in her two events. Meanwhile Jon C. and Otto M. dominated and won their heats in the 200 yd IM and 200 yd Freestyle respectively. We look forward to all their performances in the championship meet next week. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

On Monday the BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Bay Ridge Prep 69-42 in the lower gym. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Bay Ridge Prep 96-44 in the lower gym. The team started the week facing an ISAL league opponent. BFS started strong and never looked back winning wire to wire. Senior Finn S., who is inching closer and closer to 1,000 points for his BFS career scored a team-high 28 points and grabbed 22 rebounds, while picking up 5 blocks. Supporting Finn was sophomore Alex B., who finished with 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Senior Aja M. scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Fellow seniors Ty S. scored 12 points and had 2 assists and Jonathan L. scored 7 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals. Blue Pride!!

1/29/20

On Tuesday the BFS MS Girls Basketball Team defeated Churchill 30-21 in the lower gym. The Panthers came into Tuesday's game looking to start their second winning streak of the season. Players from both teams sprung into action from the jump, trading baskets throughout the first half. The Panthers dominated on the boards, grabbing rebounds and hustling for loose balls. Ball movement was key in the first half as BFS worked to make the extra pass, and find open teammates. Tied 11-11 going into halftime, the Panthers readjusted their game plan and looked to impose their will upon the opposing team. In the second half, BFS continued to trade baskets with their opponent until late in the 4th quarter. With the outcome of the game in limbo and about three minutes left during the final quarter, the Panthers turned up their efforts on the defensive end of the court, and forced turnovers that lead to fastbreak opportunities. As time ticked off the clock, BFS displayed composure and maturity, finishing the game with a nine point lead. The Panthers are looking forward to their next game on Thursday. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Churchill 48-34 in the lower gym. It was another league game for BFS. The Panthers got out to a quick lead 11-3. Churchill refused to go away quietly though and battled back throughout the first half. BFS was in foul trouble early, continued to turn the ball over, and could not get a defensive rebound before Churchill got two to three attempts at the basket. Despite the sloppy first half the Panthers went into halftime up by two points with a score of 15-13. Santi M., Q’oshae R., and Lucien A. came out in the third quarter ready to play. Lucien was dominant on both sides of the ball scoring 8 points in the second half and grabbing several rebounds and steals. Along side him was Jake R. and Max K. who turned on their defensive intensity in the second half as well. Max K. went 3-4 from the free throw line in for fourth quarter for some insurance points. Q'oshae finished with 14 points, Lucien and Santi chipped in with 8 points a piece. The Panthers pulled ahead for a comfortable lead and finished the game and picked up their 8th win of the season and their 5th win in the ISAL league play. Their record stands at 5-2 in league play and 8-4 overall on the season. Blue Pride!!

1/30/20

On Wednesday the BFS Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated Churchill 54-23 in the lower gym. BFS played an opponent that was not at full strength today, BFS was able to spread the scoring load, generously moving the ball. Victoria L. led with for the first squad, and Nicole A. led the way for the second squad. The team worked well in the half court and was also able to get out and run and score on some fastbreaks. Libby S., Lizzy G., and Franka M-T hit timely jumpers during the course of the game. The BFS Girls Varsity bench squad continued the good play providing timely baskets contributing to the victory. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Churchill in the lower gym. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Dwight 42-29 on the road. The Panthers made the trip up to 109th Street and first Avenue at the Dwight School Athletic Center. The game started off like most with a consistent back and forth battle that found the Panthers only up by three points at the half, 17-14. BFS was working hard under the hoop but couldn’t get the favorable roll on any of the put backs. The second half started and the Panthers kicked it in to another gear. Jameson G. put up 6 points in the third quarter and Max M. scored 8 of his 10 points during the fourth and final quarter, including a big 3 with 90 seconds left that put the game out of reach. Honorable mention goes out to Max K. and Ben F. who led the team in rebounds and steals. Dwight will make the trip to Downtown Brooklyn tomorrow when Dwight send their main squad which will be looking for a some revenge. Let's Go BFS. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Grace 79-61 on the road. The team traveled to Manhattan to face an ACIS opponent. The team came away with a victory, which included three players scoring 20+ points each. Leading the way was Ty S., scoring all of his 22 points in the 2nd half. Finn S., scored 20 points, grabbed 18 rebounds, and had 5 blocks. Sophomore Alex B. scored 20 points, dished out 10 assists, and picked up 7 steals in his first start of the season. Coby W. was stellar with his defensive pressure while scoring 8 points. Blue Pride!!

1/31/20

On Thursday the BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Dwight 64-28 in the lower gym. The MS Boys Panthers took on Dwight's "A" team to complete the back to back contests. The first few minutes were full of missed shots and turnovers that actually saw the Panthers down 4-2 after two minutes of play. Teddy B. came in at point guard and started to distribute the ball all over the court setting up his teammates for some easy buckets down low. Five different players contributed to the Panthers 21 points in the first quarter; including two big three pointers from Cal S. and Jake R. to help the Panthers get back on top. Sam K. took over the second quarter on his own bucketing 12 of the 20 points the Panthers put up. BFS went into the half up big, 41-11. The Panthers continued to see some high energy defense from players who were eager to get in and show what they've got. BFS picked up another team victory. That makes four in a row for the MS Boys Panthers who improve to 10-4 overall and 7-2 in the ISAL league play. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Avenues 89-54 on the road. The team once again traveled to the city to take on non-league opponent Avenues. It was an impressive wire to wire victory. Sophomore Alex B. put on one of the greatest individual scoring performance in the last 20 years. He scored 40 points in just three quarters of action, which included knocking down 8 three pointers. Way to go Alex!! Senior Finn S. scored 25 points, grabbed 24 rebounds, had 5 assists, 4 blocks, and 3 steals. Junior Henry L. chipped in with 9 points and senior Coby W. had 3 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys & Girls Squash Team participated in a Match versus Basis at Eastern Athletic Club. Kai robin did a fantastic job represented BFS. It was the teams third match of the season. Blue Pride!!

On Thursday the BFS MS Girls Basketball Team defeated York Prep 19-15 in the lower gym. After coming off a hard fought tough loss earlier in the week on Tuesday, the Panthers looked to redeem themselves. Determined to get a win, BFS displayed spirit and enthusiasm from the beginning of warmups, and kept that same energy throughout the game. The Panthers ferociously attacked the basket on offense and took advantage of early opportunities to score. In the first half BFS showed no mercy on the defensive end of the floor, holding York Prep to just five points going into halftime. The second half brought intensified action as both teams traded baskets, steals, and rebounds. Down by two points with under two minutes to go in the 4th and final quarter, the Panthers seemed to kick into another gear with full court pressure and a look of hunger on their faces. With a stroke of good fortune the Panthers got a steal and a go ahead layup with a minute left in the game. That layup was the go ahead bucket that sealed the deal. The Panthers look forward to keeping the energy going into their next game. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated York Prep 49-30 in the lower gym. The team came out ready to play and avenge their recent loss earlier in the week. Unfortunately for York Prep the Panthers would not be denied today. Despite missing four key players the Panthers played lockdown defense to start holding their opponent to only five points in the first half. Teddy B. and Jameson G. ran an efficient and effective back court getting everyone involved and leading them into open space. BFS went in to the half up 22-5. It was more of the same in the second half. The younger Panthers getting some solid minutes on the court and making the most of it. Zach R. had a couple of blocked shots while Theo S. and Jake M. added a couple of points each. The Panthers closed the game out and picked up the league victory, improving to 4-2 in the ISAL League. Blue Pride!!

On Friday the BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Mary McDowell Friends School 85-55 in the lower gym in front of the best crowd of the year. It was a battle of the Quakers. Both Schools came out to cheer on and support their teams. The BFS lower gym was packed. What a wonderful atmosphere for a high school basketball game. Both Schools showed their school pride. Way to go BFS & MMFS. It was a big league game, between two of the top four teams currently in the ISAL League standings. BFS came out strong and never looked back, as they took the wire to wire victory to improve their league record. Leading the way for the Panthers was senior Ty S., who poured in with 29 points, picked up 5 steals, and had 3 assists. Fellow senior Finn S. scored 24 points, grabbed 18 rebounds, had 8 blocks, and 2 steals. Both players combined for 53 of BFS' 85 points. Senior Coby W. scored 8 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Junior Mirembe MT. scored 6 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals. Junior Nick M., scored 5 points and 6 rebounds. On Monday the BFS Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated Bay Ridge Prep 58-7 in the lower Gym. The BFS Girls Varsity Basketball Team picked up its third win in a row, a league victory against a shorthanded Bay Ridge Prep Team, with only 6 players. BFS continued to be anchored by senior leader Libby S. scoring. BFS scored on numerous fast breaks which also assisted in today's victory. Everyone on the team contributed to this win. Next up a scheduled team practice and then a non-league game in the city versus Trevor Day on Wednesday. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated York Prep 55-29 in the lower Gym. JV Panthers were back in action against league opponent against York Prep. The Panthers won big in their first meeting this season and were hoping for another winning result. BFS started out slow taking an 11-2 lead after one quarter of play. Things picked up but were still a slow, it was all and all a low scoring game. The JV Panthers were led by sophomore guard Xavier G. who finished with 17 points and junior center Masai W. who had a career high 12 rebounds and 5 blocks. BFS led the whole way and picked up the league victory. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Lycee Francais de New York 73-45 on the road. The Panthers looked to rebound from a tough to Martin Luther on Friday. They traveled to Manhattan to face off against non-league opponent LFNY. The team had a wire to wire victory. The senior tandem of Ty S., and Finn S., led the way for BFS. Finn scored 19 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and had 6 blocks. Ty scored 17 points and dished out 4 assists. Other key contributors were Aja M. who scored 9 points and picked up 3 rebounds. Henry L. also scored 9 points, had 2 rebounds, and 2 steals. Nick M. scored 8 points, had 3 rebounds, and 2 blocks. And Sophomore Alex B. scored 6 points and had 6 assists. Blue Pride!!

On Tuesday the BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Birch Wathen Lenox 42-39 in the lower gym. The Panthers took on BWL in their 5th ISAL league contest of the season. BFS was riding a two game win streak and was looking to make it three in a row in front of the home crowd. This game was defined by the defense played by both teams. BWL used their full court press to rush the Panthers back and create turnovers. To pile on to an already chaotic game it seemed like the Panthers could not get any of their easy buckets to fall. The first half ended in a low scoring 17-17 tie. The third quarter saw BFS fall behind slightly, chasing as much as five at one point. BWL's defense was stifling and held the Panthers to a mere five points in the third quarter while the Panthers answered back with some active defense of their own. Chasing three points entering the 4th Quarter the Panthers dug deep to try and close this game out with another league win. Led by Jameson G. who had 11 points, Cal S. also had 11 points, and Q'oshae R. finished with 9 points. BFS was up eight with less than two minutes to go, but BWL fought back and tied it up. It was a very exciting finish. The Panthers outscored BWL by six in the final quarter to pull off the 42-39 win. The MS Panthers improve to 5-3 overall on the year, with a 4-1 ISAL league record. The boys have another game tomorrow, taking it back on the road with a 5:00pm away game a few blocks away against Saint Ann's. Lets Go Panthers! Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Girls Basketball Team defeated Birch Wathen Lenox 22-16 on the road. The Panthers took the trip to the upper Eastside ready to take on BWL. Looking to extend their win streak to three, the team took the court with laser focus. BFS displayed this energy by jumping out to 10-0 lead in the 1st quarter. Despite their many offensive efforts, the Panthers did not score again until the 2nd half, ending with a 10-6 halftime score. Rejuvenated from the halftime vigor and motivation from their teammates, the starting five stretched the lead out to 18-10 going into the 4th quarter. Showing signs of a somewhat seasoned team, the Panthers finished the game 22-16 with the win in hand. BFS looks to continue their streak on Wednesday against local rival Saint Ann’s School. On Wednesday the BFS MS Girls Basketball Team defeated Saint Ann's 37-29 on the road. The Panthers traveled a couple blocks away to take on one of their neighborhood rivals, the Saint Ann’s School. Though slightly nervous, due to their anxiousness of wanting to extend their win streak to four consecutive games, the Panthers scored first and forgot about their pre-game jitters. After trading baskets with their opponent throughout the majority of the first half, BFS went into halftime with a 14-13 lead. Accepting the fact that the outcome of this game would be determined solely based on shear effort and will, the Panthers came into the second half more focused than they’ve been all season. Ball movement and intense defense proved to be beneficiary to BFS as they created scoring opportunities throughout the second half. Contested layups, offensive rebounds, and mid range jump shots poured into the basket as the Panthers pushed forth toward the day’s destiny. Saint Ann’s made one last effort to stage a comeback late in the final quarter, but the Panthers handled their business similar to a team with veteran status. BFS looks forward to extend their win streak to five games next Tuesday against LREI. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Saint Ann's 51-38 on the road. The traveled across the way to take on local rival Saint Anns. The Panthers still can't find a way to shake off those first quarter blues and found themselves in a back and forth game to start. In the second quarter led by Cal S. the Panthers outscored their opponent 14-2 to go into the half up 11 points. The second half saw more of the same stellar defense from the Panthers along with phenomenal ball movement on the offensive end. The teams role players Folayemi K., Sebastian B., Owen J., and Chico S. all made the most of their minutes and helped the Panthers on their way to another victory. Q'oshae R. contributed with 14 points of his own. The Panthers improved to 6-3 on the season. They will be back in action on Tuesday when they take on league opponent LREI. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Leman Prep 69-60 in the lower gym. The energy in the gym was great as both teams battled in this extremely competitive match up. BFS knew this was gonna be a big game coming in but no one could imagine for what everyone was about to see. Both teams started slow, as they were getting the nerves out of their systems and getting a feel for each others team. As the pace picked up, the intensity picked up as well. The Panthers took an early lead but Leman came back and cut the lead down. It was a back and forth game throughout. BFS led 31-28 at the half. Led by sophomore guards Charlie B. who finished with a game high 21 points and Xavier G. who was right next time him with 20 points. Junior guard Bryce K. chipped in with 11 points. The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Leman Prep 85-65 in the lower gym. The Panthers hosted a very talented Leman Prep team who traveled right over the bridge to Downtown Brooklyn. BFS and the Panthers came away with a very impressive twenty point victory. The varsity team started the first quarter on a 23-6 run with there intense defense and crisp ball movement. This early run set the tone in front of the home crowd. Leading the way for BFS were senior sharp shooter Ty S., scoring a game high 26 points (including two key three pointers), 6 steals, and 3 assists. Supporting Ty was fellow senior, big man on campus Finn S., who finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Fellow senior Aja M., played very well off the bench scoring 10 points and picking up 8 rebounds. Defensive dynamo senior Coby W., scored 10 points, had 4 assists, and 3 steal. Junior Henry L., also came off the bench to score 10 points and had 3 steals. Fellow junior Mirembe M-T., scored 4 points, had 8 assists, grabbed 8 rebounds, and picked up 3 steals. On Thursday BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Bay Ridge Prep 65-42 on the road at the St. George Community Center. BFS just wanted to continue playing their game and keep it team first, with a winning culture. The game started slow and stayed slow for the first half with the score remaining close at the half, 21-20. After some motivation from the head coach, the Panthers played with energy and gusto and pulled away with the road victory. BFS was led by junior guard Judah B. who poured in a game high 27 points and dished out 5 assists. Sophomore guard Xavier G. chipped in with 11 points.

After an impressive win versus Leman Prep at home on Wednesday, the varsity team traveled to Bay Ridge Brooklyn to take on league opponent Bay Ridge Prep The team won with a wire to wire victory. Leading the way for BFS was senior Finn S., who had another very impressive stat line of 28 points, 17 rebounds, 7 blocks, 3 assists, and 3 steals, way to go Finn. Fellow senior Ty S., scored 15 points, had 3 assists, and picked up 3 steals. Sophomore Alex B. led the team with 6 assists while scoring 10 points. The juniors of Nick M. and Henry L., both chipped in and scored 8 points with 7 and 6 rebounds respectively. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

On Wednesday the BFS Girls Varsity Basketball Team returned to action and defeated Birch Wathen Lenox 43-36 in the city and the Lenox Hill Neighborhood House. It was a nice league win for the team. BFS got into the flow early, scoring first. From there the team slowly built a soft lead. BFS welcomed back junior Victoria L. who had been out with an injury and missed several games, she produced 12 points to help anchor a balanced offense. Senior Libby S. continues to score, rebound, and block shots she finished with 16 points. BFS' defensive guard play disrupted BWL and caused/created numerous turnovers, which led to points for BFS, and a victory to start out the new year. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team returned to action and defeated Churchill 59-47 on the road. It was the teams 8th win in a row. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys JV Basketball Team returned to action and defeated Churchill 59-28 on the road. The JV Panthers were back in action after coming off the long winter break. The Panthers showed that they didn't miss a beat by getting out to a big lead early never looked back. At halftime BFS was up 34-12. Led by sophomore guard Ethan S. with a career high 8 points and the front court powerhouse of Oscar M. 12 points, also a career high, and Zachary E. finished with 13 points. The JV Panthers came away with the league road win. Onto the next one. Blue Pride!!

On Thursday the BFS MS Girls Basketball Team returned to action and defeated Mary McDowell 38-2 in the lower gym. The Panthers assertively took the court ready to play their first game of the New Year against the local Friends Mary McDowell School. After three grueling days of practice, the team looked forward to exert themselves in front of a packed home crowd. After getting some good looks at the basket in the beginning of the first quarter, the Panthers continued to move the ball with precision and eventually scored their first points of 2020. Following this basket from Thea T., the Panthers would then go on to dominate on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. BFS brought the same energy in the second half, and played with consistency throughout the game. They are now looking forward to their next game against Leman Prep Friday 1/10/20 at 4:00PM in city just over the bridge. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Basketball Team returned to action and defeated Mary McDowell 60-44 on the road. The MS Boys Basketball team came out ready to play in their first game in 2020. Going up against Mary McDowell, who was the only loss on last years league record, meant that the Panthers had an extra chip on their shoulder. It was a close game for the entire first half. Mary McDowell pressed from the tip but the Panthers persevered and closed out the first half down 1, 24-23. The third quarter is where the boys really started to pull away. The team opened up the half with their press defense and Mary McDowell was not prepared. The stifling defense and solid transition offense allowed the Panthers to pull ahead in the 3Q leading by 5 going in to the 4th. The same lock down defense and transition offense continued despite the rotation of players on the floor. The Panthers closed to game out with a much needed 60-44 win in a loud opposing gym. It was a great win and the Panthers saw outstanding play on both ends of the floor from Itai K., Sam K., Santi M., Max K., and Jules I. The Panthers look to string a couple of wins together with a home game tomorrow against Léman Prep at 4pm. Go Blue! Blue Pride!!

The BFS Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated Saint Ann's 43-34 on the road. BFS walked over to play their opponent a few blocks away. The Team battled the whole way. It was a real team effort. BFS was led by senior Libby S. who had 16 points. It was the teams second win this after and they now find themselves 2-0 in the near year. Way to go. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Birch Wathen Lenox 77-48 in the lower gym. The JV Panthers were back in action on the second night of a back to back In league play against BWL. BFS took a strong lead with stellar play from sophomore guard Charlie B. who tallied 5 steals in the first half. The JV Panthers played a great overall game getting everyone involved. Charlie poured in a career high 30 points , and finished with 7 steals and 5 assists. The team is 2-0 in 2020. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys & Girls Varsity Squash Team participated in a Match versus Leman Prep at RX Squash in the city. This was the teams first away game of the season. And we are proud to announce that we won! As always, everyone played their best and demonstrated excellent sportspersonship. BFS played 4 games as Leman was down players. BFS won 3 games. Unfortunately we had to forfeit one, after one of our players got injured. The energy was high and everyone was excited for the second win of the season! Blue Pride!!

On Friday the BFS MS Girls Basketball Team defeated Leman Prep 13-8 on the road just over the bridge. It was the teams second win in as many days as they secured back to back victories to open up 2020. Coming off of their first win of 2020, the Panthers looked to add to their streak. The first half was a defensive battle as both teams exerted energy and effort throughout the first and second quarters, ending up with a 4-3 score at halftime. In the second half the Panthers brought a high level of intensity on both ends of the floor. Showing their progress made through rigorous practices, the Panthers displayed much improved ball movement which stretched out Leman's defense. This ball movement allowed the Panthers to get open shots close to the basket. With the score 7-3 going into the fourth quarter, Leman decided to put a full court press on. With the pressure rising like temperatures on summer afternoons, the Panthers remained calm and weathered what was thrown at them. They would end the game 13-8 after making layups and free throws to seal the victory. This was a huge team win, as everyone saw action on the court, and contributed in various ways. The Panthers are looking forward to the new week, and what it has to offer. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Garden 86-30 in the lower gym. The Panthers picked up another an ISAL league win as they led wire to wire. BFS was led by senior Finn S. who scored 22 points, grabbed 19 rebounds, and had 4 blocks. Fellow seniors Ty S. and Aja M. chipped in with solid performances as well. Ty scored 14 points and dished out 3 assists, while Aja scored 12 points and had 4 rebounds. Sophomore Alex B. scored 9 points, picked up 5 steals, and had 3 assists. Senior Coby W. finished with 6 points and 6 steals. The team has one more game on Wednesday before the winter break.

12/10/19

On Monday the BFS Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated Rudolf Steiner 39-11 in the lower gym. The BFS offense was on point today. BFS came out early and often and put the ball in the basket. The players played and kept things rolling in the right direction. Our opponent played person to person, and the Panthers were directed to utilize our deft ball handlers, seniors Cyrah J. and Nicole A. to attack the middle of the court and shoot, the wings sophomore Franka M-T, senior Lizzy G., and senior Libby S. were responsible for the rebounds and put backs. Libby picked up two early fouls and was quickly replaced by junior Sasha R., but Libby was till able to get back in and have an extremely productive game on both ends of the court, especially slashing to the basket for open looks. The BFS lead grew quickly allowing the freshmen crew of Amelia S., Willa U., Sarah J., Maya E. to get some extremely valuable playing time and court experience. Way to go girls and way to go team!! On Tuesday the BFS Boys & Girls Varsity Squash Team participated in a Match against Dwight at the Eastern Athletic Club. Brooklyn It was a historic match for both BFS and their opponent Dwight. This was Dwight's first ever Match and this was BFS' first ever Win. BFS won 5-2! It was impressive to see everyone play their personal best. Players ran down and got a touch on almost every single shot. They played hard and deserved every point. During the matches, everyone was supportive and cheered on their fellow teammates. As always, our players demonstrated excellent sportspersonship and were supportive of each other. Blue Pride!!

On Thursday the BFS Boys & Girls Varsity Squash Team participated in a Match against Birch Wathen Lenox at the Eastern Athletic Club. The BFS players put forth their best effort, but unfortunately they came up short, losing 0-7. However, we are extremely proud of the support players showed for each other, especially those who stayed to watch everyone else's matches. It was great to see some players have their first match. The team continues to grow and develop. They are looking forward to their next match on Tuesday before the upcoming winter break. Blue Pride!!

On Friday the BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Berkeley Carroll 42-21 on the road. The team was looking to bounce back after their first loss of the season earlier in the week. The Panthers were able to shake off a flat start that had them only up by six points at the half. Itai K. and Q’oshae R. looked to come out quicker in the second half and they did just that. The Panthers picked up the intensity on defense and started hitting their mid range shots. Santi M., Ben F., and Zach R. showed some fire on the defensive side of the court and were huge contributors to BFS’ second half success. The boys come back after the weekend on Monday looking to improve to 3-1 with another away game against the Garden School. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Elisabeth Irwin 82-71 on the road. The Panthers traveled to Manhattan to face off against LREI at their home court with a battle for 1st place on the line. Both teams came into the game with 4-0 records. This game was a highly competitive game. In the end, BFS pulled away with the victory and is now in sole possession of first place in the ISAL League. Leading the way for BFS was senior Finn S. who had a huge game, finishing with 36 points, 22 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 blocks, and 3 assists. Fellow senior, Ty S. scored 19 points, knocking down four 3pts.'s and picking up 4 steals. Jack B. scored 7 points and had a game high 12 assists. On Tuesday the BFS MS Girls Basketball Team defeated Staten Island Academy 16-15 in an overtime thriller to tip off their season on their home court. Today was a great day to be a Panther. The girls basketball team took the court for the first time this season to take on SIA. Over the course of the entire game, the girls played excellent defense; in particular Bianca B. and Harper C. put a stop to the other teams best players. Astrid M. showed true 8th grade leadership on and off the court; encouraging girls on where to go for offense, as well as on the bench, being one of the first to always stand and cheer for her teammates. The game was close the entire 4 quarters; with only a minute left in the fourth quarter; and up 13-11, the other team sunk a layup to tie the game. In overtime, the girls fought even harder to pull down rebounds, move the ball around, and look for open shots. With 3 seconds on the clock in overtime and tied 15-15, the girls set up a play to get the ball to Ava V. She got fouled going up for a shot and headed to the foul shot line with no time left on the clock. After missing the first free throw, she calmly swished the second to secure the victory for her team. The fans literally stormed the court and celebrated the victory! Harper C., Emma L. also had big shots along the way, and Mia L. and Thea T. had great games rebounding the ball. It was a win that Middle School dreams are made of! The BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Staten Island Academy 59-11 in the lower gym. It was an all out team victory for the MS Panthers in their season opener. Playing in front of packed home court the team came out determined to control the game from the very beginning. BFS started off on a 12-0 run and finished the first quarter up 18-2. The defense persisted throughout the game and we got to see our younger Panther student athletes really shine. Teddy B., Jameson G., and Oliver M. were some of the new faces that helped lead the Panthers to an astounding first game victory. The Panthers are ready to enjoy the "W" this evening, before moving on tomorrow to start focusing on their next opponent Brooklyn Waldorf, next week. Blue Pride!!

The JV Panthers took on league opponent BWL. The game started slow and BFS was not finding the bucket. But as th game progressed, so did BFS. With balanced scoring and some great defense, BFS was able to pull away and secure the league victory. Notable mentions go to Xavier G. with 15 points, Charlie B. with 14 points, and Zachary E. 12 points and 15 rebounds. Blue Pride!!

Following the Panthers last game where they lost by a point at Barclays Center, the varsity team traveled the city to face league opponent BWL in an ISAL league game. The team came away with an impressive victory. Five BFS players scored in double figures. The leading scorer of the game was sophomore Alex B., with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 steals. Senior Ty S. scored 15 points. Other impressive performances where from, Finn S. with 13 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, and had 8 blocks. Junior Mirembe M-T scored 8 points, dished out 9 assists, had 7 rebounds, and 5 steals. Senior Jack B. scored 13 points and had 3 assists. Junior Henry L. scored 12 points and had 3 rebounds. BFS had some of our squashers participate and play in their first ever matches. BFS took advantage of the court time and every student had the opportunity to play at least two games. We are proud of all of our squashers and student athletes. BFS Squash Coach Alison is always so proud of the support that our athletes provide to each other across grades and divisions! Coming off a great win the other night,, the Panthers wanted to keep their momentum going and get another league victory. Led by sophomore guards Charlie B. with 21 points and Xavier G. 18 points, shooting lights out from long range, and freshman guard Jackson B. chipping in with season high 11 points. BFS came away with the impressive road victory. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated York Prep 84-62 in the lower gym. The Panthers hosted their first home ISAL league game of the season, a team BFS played in two straight ISAL playoffs. BFS came away with an impressive 22 point victory. This was a very close game at halftime as the Panthers led by only two points, 33-31. Then heading into the 4th quarter, it was 49-42 BFS. The Panthers made a very impressive 4th quarter run and dominated the final quarter. Leading the way for BFS was senior Finn S. He played one of his better games of his careers, dropping in a game and season high 30 points, pulling in 23 rebounds, picking up 5 steals, and managing 4 blocks! Next up was a sophomore guard Alex B., who scored 20 points and dished out 5 assists. Another player that played extremely well in the second half and contributed to the league victory was Henry L. with 11 points and 3 assists. Seniors guards, Jack B., and Ty S., also played well. Jack scored 10 points and had 10 assists (double double). Ty scored 7 points, 5 rebounds, and picked up 3 steals. The next game for the team will be against the Garden School in Queens on Friday. The BFS Boys & Girls Varsity Indoor Track Team participated in a Meet at the 168th Street Armory. It was the teams first meet of the season. It was a packed house at the 168th Street Armory Track and Field Facility in Washington Heights, and the BFS Girls Varsity Indoor Track Team showed up to meet all challenges. With many of the top athletes and runners from the Ivy league Prep Schools present, many whom were upperclassman and seniors, nerves and anxiety eventually subsided when that gun went off and the races began. The lady Panthers received a big boost of confidence in the 4x200m relay when freshman Oona V., running the lead leg of the race, she got out of the blocks slow, but then absolutely walked down and passed one of Horace Mann's premier athletes. Juniors Garance S-M and Eloise C. fought hard in the middle two legs to keep the lady panthers from falling to into last, handing the baton to freshman anchor Remi I. Remi refused to be caught and was challenged to the very end. That determination prevented the lady Panthers from a last place finish against some elite competition, and these ladies paved the way for the rebirth of BFS Indoor Track Program. It was a wonderful experience for all involved. BFS is already looking forward to the next one. Blue Pride!!

On Thursday the BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Lycee Francais de New York 60-43 in the lower gym. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys & Girls Varsity Squash Team participated in a Match against Grace at the Eastern Athletic Club. It was the teams first match of the season. Everyone was excited to take part in this event. While BFS lost, 1-6, our top seed Luc A. won. Every player demonstrated vast improvement from last season and we look forward to the rest of the season. As always, BFS demonstrated sportspersonship and supported each other on and off the court. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys & Girls Varsity Swim Team participated in an ISAL Meet at the Leman Prep Pool. It was the teams first meet of the season. It was a relay carnival. Everyone on the team was excited to get into the pool and compete. There was great energy at the meet. Thanks to Leman Prep for hosting. BFS finished in third place out of 7 total league schools. The BFS Boys & Girls each secured third place finishes as a group. Nice job. Blue Pride!!

On Friday the BFS MS Girls Basketball Team defeated UNIS 34-1 on the road. It was the teams first road win of the season. Everyone contributed to the victory. The team is currently 2-0. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated Garden 45-40 on the road. BFS was down early 7-2 in the first quarter, due to several turnovers and lack of rebounding. BFS stormed back to take a 13 to 9 lead and took a 25-17 halftime advantage. Junior Cyrah J. came alive dropping in timely jumpers at the free throw area, senior Libby S. anchored the offense aided by fellow senior Lizzy G. and sophomore Franka M-T dropping a 3 pointer. Garden would not quit as they went person to person on defense and battled all the way back to take a two point lead in the third quarter. Junior Sasha R. and Libby controlled the boards, as seniors Fadilla S. and Nicole A. shored up the defense eventually putting BFS back up by ten points with 3:35 left. A fastbreak and a couple of foul shots brought Garden back to within five in their gym, but time was against Garden and BFS held on to pick u their first win of the season. Way to go girls. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Garden 82-35 on the road. The Panthers concluded their three games of the week versus league opponents wit three impressive victories. Garden School. Leading the way for BFS was Finn S. with 20 points, 11 rebounds (double/double), 5 steals, and 4 blocks. The second leading scorer of the game was Henry L. with 15 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Ty S. scored 12 points, 3 steals, and 3 assists. Jack B. scored 4 points and dished out 12 assists. Aja M. and Alex B. both chipped in with 9 points apiece. The team did a pretty impressive job rebounding the ball as team with great individual production from Aja pulling in 14 boards, Finn with 11, and Jonathan L. bringing in 9 rebounds. Way to go team. On Monday the BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Staten Island Academy 65-33 in the lower gym. As the JV Panthers open up the 2019-20 regular season, hopes are high to repeat as league champions. With more expectations and better competition this year, the Panthers opened up at home against Staten Island Academy. Out of the gate the Panthers started strong by grabbing an early lead. After the first quarter the team pulled away and never looked back. With big contributions from guards Charlie B., 24 points, Judah B., 12 points, and Xavier G. 14 points. The JV Team defended their home court and tipped off the season with a victory. Blue Pride!!

On Wednesday the BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Berkeley Carroll 64-59 on the road. The JV Panthers were back in action against the Lions. Berkeley Carroll is a tough opponent and a great test for BFS early in the season. BFS started slow and shot themselves into an early deficit. At halftime the Lions were ahead of the Panthers 27-17. Through hard work and mental toughness, the Panthers were able to storm back and pull out the road victory. BFS was led by Bryce K. with a game high 24 points and hot shooting by guard Judah B. who finished with 22 points. Blue Pride!!

On Friday the BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Grace 71-51on the road.

The BFS Boys & Girls Varsity Swim Team participated in their first Meet of the season with Packer at St. Francis College Pool. Our swimmers did a great job representing BFS. The Panthers had 10 swimmers participate in the meet, 6 boys and 4 girls. BFS competed in relays for both the boys and the girls. Many swimmers tried new events and the Coaches now have race times to work as the season continues and moves into the league schedule. The team manager, Chelsea, was able to help keep track of times and events as the meet went on. We are proud of them and they all had a great time. The BFS high school swimmers are looking forward to next meet, which will be the first league meet of the season. Blue Pride!!

On Tuesday the BFS Girls Varsity Volleyball Team participated in the NYSAIS State Tournament versus the #2 Marymount at the Brearley Field House at 5:00pm. Congrats to the Team for making it to the NYSAIS Tourney. The team lost 3-0 (15-25, 14-25, 15-25). Thanks to everyone who contributed to this seasons success. Looking forward to next season. On Tuesday the BFS Girls Varsity Soccer Team defeated Elisabeth Irwin 0-0 (3-2 penalty shootout) in the ISAL Semifinals at Pier 40. What an exciting Game!! The Girls Varsity Soccer Team defeated the number one seed to advance to the ISAL Finals on Thursday at Randalls Island at 3:30pm. Blue Pride!!

On Wednesday the BFS MS Boys Soccer Team defeated Saint Ann's 3-2 at beautiful Brooklyn Bridge Park. The team came from behind to pick up the exciting victory to culminate the season. The boys started the game with a very high intensity and created a number of opportunities to score early on. In the 24th minute, they converted their dominance into the first goal of the game to go up 1 - 0. Rami S. whipped a peach of a ball into the box from a corner kick and Grady A. was first to it, placing his volley into the net. The boys took their lead for granted and as a result, let in two goals in the span of the next four minutes. Instead of putting their heads down they picked themselves up and kicked on with the high intensity they played with for most of the first half. Their work rate paid off in the 43rd minute when Eli G. latched onto a cross from the right side and shot on goal. The Saint Ann's keeper blocked the shot, but spilled the rebound and Henry A. swept up the rebound and placed his shot into the roof of the net to tie it up at 2 - 2. In the 51st minute, the team won a penalty kick and Rami S. stepped up and blasted his shot into the left side of the net. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Girls Soccer Team defeated Grace 8-1 at beautiful Brooklyn Bridge Park. The Panthers took the field with exuberance in their final game of the season. After ending their first match of the season in a tie with Grace, the Panthers entered the game hungry for an outright victory. Grace would score their first goal very early in the game, putting BFS at a deficit, and leaving their will in question. However, following the goal by Grace, the Panthers would go on to score 8 goals throughout the remainder of the contest. Looking to end their middle school soccer careers on a high note, the talented 8th graders from BFS would account for 5 goals, with scoring kicks from Astrid M., Ana N., Ava Z., and Sonia A. 8th grader Gabby K. remained a force on defense, as she helped anchor the Panthers throughout the game, and selflessly playing goalie during the second half. The remaining goals would come from BFS 7th graders, Rosa G. and Amelia L. as the Panthers ended their season in the best way possible. With no losses, and two ties on their record, the Panthers finished the season undefeated! Good for the best season in the team history. They are extremely proud of themselves and have ignited a passion as BFS student-athletes that they look to carry into the remaining year, and years to come. Blue Pride!!

On Thursday the BFS Girls Varsity Soccer Team lost to Leman Prep 1-1 93-4 penalty shootout) in the ISAL Finals Game at Randalls Island. The team played a great overall game. BFS found themselves down 1-0 about halfway through the first half. BFS continued to fight until the very end as the team pushed through and set a wonderful scoring chance by Willa V. who knocked in with a tremendous shot. That goal tied things up as regulation ended. Both teams remained tied after two 7 minute overtime periods. Then it was on to a Penalty Shootout. BFS came up a bit short, but what a great team and wonderful way to close out the season. Way to go girls and way to go team. Blue Pride Runs Deep, Friends Forever!! Blue Pride!!

On Friday the BFS Girls JV Volleyball Team lost to Garden 2-1 (16-25, 31-29, 22-25) in the ISAL Finals at Leman Prep. It was an exciting end to an exciting season for the Girls JV Volleyball team. The girls undefeated in the ISAL league played their final match for the championship against Garden. Getting off to a slow start, BFS dropped the first set, but rallied back in an intense second set to win 31-29. The third set was close, but unfortunately did not go BFS' way. The Panthers may not have won the championship, but they sure did play like champions! Blue Pride all the way. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Girls Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Dwight 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-18) in the ISAL Finals at Leman Prep. The team started off their championship game in positive spirits ready to play. With the strength and timing of our front row, BFS was able to block many of Dwight’s swings, which helped secure the lead and eventually the win the first set. BFS moved as a unit and communicated efficiently throughout the match. In set two Dwight came back with the same intensity they started out with but BFS stood their ground with Yamila M., Salma M., and Alex H. getting a few kills to start BFS off. Both teams hustled effortlessly and the energy in the gym was definitely great. The great energy felt u=in the gym helped BFS to secure the win in the second set. During the third set BFS was all smiles with the thought of victory in their head and on their faces. The girls entered the third set with more ease, having fun, and playing point by point. BFS won the final point on a free ball kill by Jade L. The girl’s fulfilled their season goal of a championship, and ended the season as CHAMPIONS. We are the Champions....Blue Pride!!

On Friday the BFS MS Girls Soccer Team defeated Berkeley Carroll 7-0 at Brooklyn Bridge Park. The Panthers took the field with energy and vigor in their second to last game of the season. With beautiful scenery provided by the Brooklyn Bridge Park's landscape and front row view of downtown Manhattan, the slightly windy fall afternoon was perfect for a soccer match. The Panthers struck early and often with goals from Ana N., Sonia A., Ava Z. and Astrid M. in the first half. Defensively, the Panthers remained steadfast only allowing five shots on goal for the entire half. In second half action, the Panthers continued their offensive prowess with goals scored from Rosa G., two more from Ana, and the final two goals from Amelia L. The defense would also continue to press their issue, holding their opponent to a shutout. The Panthers are looking forward to their last game of the season against Grace Church on Wednesday, the two team previously played to a 2-2 tie. Let's get it. Blue Pride!!

On Monday the BFS MS Girls Volleyball Team defeated York Prep 2-0 (25-9, 25-11) in the upper gym. The team had a rock solid victory to start out the week. All the BFS players contributed to the win, as the team showed excellent focus and determination. Consistent serving was the main key to this victory. “Serve it up, insert BFS team member name, Serve it up!" has become a new cheer for our team, as they are showing strong support of one another during their matches. Team members are also improving their ability to work together and play strong defense when our opponent is able to return our serve. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Soccer Team defeated Mary McDowell 7-1 at Red Hook. The team today extended their win streak to three games. In the 11th minute, Chico S. opened the scoring, with his first goal of the season, when he placed his shot in the bottom left corner after a cross from Teddy B. to get things started for BFS. In the 19th minute, Teddy B., provider turned goal scorer, ran onto a perfectly weighted through ball from Dean T. and placed his shot past the goalie. In the 39th minute, Avi G. rifled his penalty spot kick into the top left corner to make the score 3 - 0. Four minutes later, Avi G. doubled his goal tally for the game with another great strike after Kaleo A. dribbled past a few defenders and laid the ball off to him. In the 52nd minute, Josh D. scored his first goal of the season when he collected the rebound, after another great dribbling run and shot from Kaleo, and placed his shot right inside of the left goal post. Two minutes later, Kaleo opened his scoring account for the season when Dean T. played another great through ball and Kaleo cooly slotted the ball home. In the 56th minute, Dean got in on the action with a beautiful looping shot from 30 yards out that dipped right before the crossbar after Kaelo played him a perfect pass from a throw in. Kaleo ended the game with a goal and three assists to his credit. In the 59th minute, Mary McDowell won a penalty kick that they converted past BFS goalie James M.; However, our goalie made some great saves earlier in the game when the score was still in the balance at 2 - 0. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Girls Soccer Team tied Friends Seminary 2-2 at Bush Terminal Park. The Panthers took the field with confidence and vigor in their six game of the season against fellow quakers Friends Seminary. Friends Seminary scored early, giving the Panthers only their second deficit of the year. With the teams character and will being tested, the Panthers responded with a goal from Astrid M. to make the score 1-1 going into the 2nd half. Battling up and down the field, exerting maximum effort, the Panthers displayed true grit and determination throughout the game. Despite their efforts, Friends Seminary scored a 2nd goal with less than five minutes remaining in the contest. Following a mid-field penalty, the Panthers were given a direct kick. Ava Z. kicked the ball mightily down the field, scoring from far beyond the goalie box to tie the game 2-2 and conclude the exciting finish. Though the Panthers did not win this game outright, they fought hard and displayed immaculate teamwork and sportspersonship throughout the game. Not to mention, the Panthers played the entire game 10 versus Friends Seminary's 11, and still managed to produce a tie. Way to go team. BFS looks forward to their next game. Blue Pride!!

On Thursday the BFS MS/US Cross Country Team participated in an ISAL Meet at Van Cortlandt Park. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Soccer Team defeated Churchill 7-0 at Bush Terminal Park. The team extending their winning streak to four games. In the 7th minute, Max K. played a perfectly weighted ball over the top of the defense for Teddy B. to run onto and place his shot right inside of the far post giving the goalie no chance. In the 36th minute, Teddy B. got his second goal of the game when he found the back of the net after a great through ball from Dean T. that split the defense making the score 2 - 0 in BFS' favor. In the 44th minute, lightning struck a second time, when Max K. played another looping pass over the defense and players from both teams stopped except for Teddy B., who beat the goalie to the ball and passed the ball into the open net, completing his first hat trick of the season. Six minutes later, Rami S. whipped in a pinpoint corner kick from the right side that Grady B. one-time volleyed into the top corner of the near post. In the 54th minute, Dean T. dribbled though a number of defenders before shooting in the far corner to make the score 5 - 0. Two minutes later, Kaleo A. volleyed a bouncing cross from Grady B. into the roof of the net. In the 58th minute, Grady B. got his second of the game when he received a pass from Kaleo A. on top of the box and shot past the Churchill goalie to make it 7 - 0. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Girls Volleyball Team defeated Churchill 2-1 (25-16, 19-25, 16-14) in the upper gym. The team had an exciting and intense three set match. All of the players are showing improvement in learning to move on the court with every touch of the ball, cover one another, and play as a team. Jordana R. and Simone H.'s serving were both 100% accurate during this match, an amazing accomplishment. Players cheering from the bench were enthusiastically supportive of their teammates on the court. This positive team spirit was a big factor in this victory. Blue Pride Runs Deep! Blue Pride!!

On Tuesday the BFS Girls Varsity Soccer Team defeated Berkeley Carroll 1-0 at beautiful Brooklyn Bridge Park. The team scored the only goal of the game with five minutes remaining. Eloise C. crossed it to Aria K. who punched it in for BFS. Great Game girls! Blue Pride!!

BFS dropped the first set but rallied back in tru Blue Pride fashion to win the next two sets. Sasha R. and Nadia A. were on fire with their spectacular serves, and the offense & defense were quick to follow suit. The girls’ grit and determination were instrumental in them winning the match and bringing the victory back to Pearl Street. Way to go Team! Blue Pride!!

On Wednesday the BFS Boys Varsity Soccer Team defeated Mary McDowell 4-0 at beautiful Brooklyn Bridge Park. The two local quaker schools battled to a 0-0 tie at the half. The team brought the energy during the second half. With the wind in BFS' favor they took advantage and opened things up. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Girls Soccer Team defeated Avenues 4-0 at pitcuresq Bush Terminal Park. The Panthers returned to action on Tuesday afternoon. Coming off consecutive wins, the squad carried themselves into the exhibition with confidence and high expectations. After a hand ball violation in their own goalie box from Avenues, Ava Z. scored the first goal of the match on a penalty kick. Ava would score her second goal soon after, followed by goals from Ana N. and Rosa G. respectively. The defense displayed maximum effort, shutting out Avenues for the game. The Panthers look forward to their next game on Friday against Berkeley Carroll at Brooklyn Bridge Park. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Girls Volleyball Team defeated Birch Wathen Lenox 2-0 (26-24, 25-16). The team picked up their first win of the season. Every player on the team contributed to this victory. Team members continued to display excellent passing skills, plus support one another on and off the court. The biggest improvement was the team serving more consistently, at 82%. BFS' leading servers were Evie B., Claudia R., and Mila T., with six, seven, and eight consecutive serves respectively. Blue Pride!!

On Thursday the BFS MS Boys Soccer Team defeated Birch Wathen Lenox 3-1 at Red Hook. Despite playing the whole match 9 players versus 11, the team started the game with a very high intensity and created a number of goal scoring opportunities early on. They had a goal disallowed for a questionable offside call, but that didn't deter them. BFS' hard work paid off when Avi G. provided a pinpoint cross to Teddy B. who passed the ball into the corner of the BWL goal in the 20th minute. Teddy B. scored his second goal of the game in the 27th minute when Rami S. played a perfectly weighted through ball for him to run onto and shoot passed the goalie. Dean T. should have scored the team's third goal of the game when he dribbled past three BWL defenders and found the corner of the net with his shot, but the goal was called back for another offside call. BWL got a goal back during the 37th minute when the team committed too many numbers forward. BFS reacted splendidly, as Dean T. got a deserved goal in the 46th minute when he intercepted a pass from a BWL defender, dribbled one defender and struck his shot into the back of the net. The boys worked very hard for one another goal until the final whistle. Blue Pride!!

On Friday the BFS MS Girls Soccer Team defeated Berkeley Carroll 6-0 at beautiful Brooklyn Bridge Park. The Panthers rolled into Friday's game on a three game winning streak. Looking to extend that streak, the Panthers were excited to play on the Brooklyn waterfront. Rosa G. would score the first goal on a rebounded corner kick. Similar to previous games, the defense remained solid, not letting any goals passed their grasp. As the game went on, the Panthers would score on goals from Ana N., Ava Z., Sonia A. And, one more goal from Rosa and Astrid M., respectively. BFS looks forward to their next game against Friends Seminary on Monday, October 7th. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Soccer Team defeated Berkeley Carroll 2-0 at at beautiful Brooklyn Bridge Park. BFS started very strong for the second game in a row and turned that early dominance into an opening goal in the 3rd minute. For the second game running, Avi G. found Teddy B. open in the opposing team's 18 yard box with a great cross and Teddy B. shot the ball into the back of the net. The boys moved the ball around very well and had some great passing sequences. In the 13th minute, one passing sequence culminated when Chico S. played a perfectly weighted through ball behind the Berkeley Carroll back line for Avi G. to run onto, take one touch to round the goalie and fire his shot into the net to double the team's advantage. The team created a number of good scoring opportunities and defended well for the whole game. Goalie James M. made a crucial save when one of the Berkeley Carroll forwards had a breakaway in the second half to maintain the team's two goal lead. On Monday the BFS Girls Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Dwight 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-14) at John Jay College. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Girls JV Volleyball Team defeated Dwight 2-1 (10-25, 25-10, 26-24) at John Jay College. The team started out with Sasha R., Lili B., Calder B., Garance S-M, Lily B., and Alice S. BFS began the first set receiving the serve, and although the team had some good plays and wonderful efforts, BFS came up short. BFS transitioned into second set more determined and focused. BFS had the same starters begin again in different spots on the court. The team played with great composure and excellent decision making. Alice S. had amazing serves. As a result of their hard work, BFS won the second set. After an exciting set and riding some positiver momentum, BFS transitioned into the third and final set. BFS had some thrilling plays and wonderful serves, while the game remained close. BFS used all of its determination, effort, and hard work, and wound up winning the final set in thrilling fashion, 26-24. Let’s Go Panthers! Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Girls Soccer Team defeated LFNY 6-0 at beautiful Bush Terminal Park. The Panthers took the field in their second game of the season against Lycée Français de New York (LFNY). Hungry for a win, the Panthers struck first with an early goal from Astrid M. Rosa G. would score the second goal for BFS moments later. Though the offense seemed to be clicking on all levels, the defense made the difference in the game. The stingy Panthers defense held their opponents scoreless in the 1st half, and went into the break with a 2-0 lead. After halftime, it seemed as though the Panthers got a second wind, and an extra boost of energy. Scoring 4 more goals in the second half from Ava Z. (1), Amelia L. (2), and 1 more from Astrid M., her second of the game; the Panthers took control of the game early and ended the match with smiles on their faces, and respect for their opponents. The Panther had a great time and are looking forward to continuing these moments in their next contest this Wednesday back on the pitch. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Soccer Team defeated Bay Ridge Prep 5-1 at Dyker Park. After a 1-1 deadlock at halftime, BFS led by senior goalie Jack B.'s halftime rallying cry posted 4 goals in the second half, two goals a piece scored by Gabe D. and Henry L. for the victory over. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Girls Soccer Team defeated Friends Seminary 7-0 at beautiful Bush Terminal Park. The Panthers took the field with high hopes in their third game of the season against fellow Quakers Friends Seminary. Looking to keep the winning streak going, the Panthers started the game with the focus and vigor of a seasoned squad. BFS struck first with an early goal from Rosa G. and never looked back. Rosa would score the next goal on a breakaway, with only the opposing team’s goalie in between her and the net. The Panthers closed out the first half with a 3-0 lead, getting their third goal from Astrid M. After oranges, water, and new strategy at halftime the Panthers would score 4 more goals. One of those goals coming from Sonia A., and the remaining three from Astrid. The defense played exceptionally well, chasing down loose balls and imposing their will upon Friends Seminary. The Panthers are looking forward to their next upcoming match, and continuing the season with the vision of getting better each day. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Girls Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Garden (25-19, 23-25, 25-10, 25-11) on the road. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Girls JV Volleyball Team defeated Garden 2-1 (25-14, 17-25, 25-14) in the upper gym. The team is on a roll, winning their third match in a row. BFS serves were on point during this match. Lili B. and Lily B. both served 5 straight points to earn BFS 10 out of their 25 points. Strong serves and great defensive play from Garance S-M, Nadia A., Hannah V. , Bella B., and Remi I. were key in winning the set. The Panthers energy dropped a little in the second set. In Blue Pride fashion, the girls bounced back and rallied in the third and final set. Raia T. was on fire serving 11 out of 25 points!. BFS' offense lit up with great plays from Sasha R., Loane B., and Calder B. taking the final set and capturing the victory. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Girls Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Friends Seminary 3-0 (25-17, 25-2, 25-14) in the upper gym. The teams hitting and tipping was on full display in this battle of the Quakers. Newcomer Sophia H., showed off what she can do from the middle of the court, getting multiple kills throughout the match. The future for this season and team looks bright and we can’t wait to see how the rest of the season unfolds. Blue Pride!!

On Wednesday the BFS Girls Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Grace 3-0 (25-8, 25-13, 25-17) in the upper gym. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Girls Soccer Team tied Grace 4-4 at beautiful Brooklyn Bridge Park. The Panthers took the field for their first game of the season. After 3 weeks of rigorous yet enjoyable team practices, the Panther were ready for action! Grace made the first statement very early, but the Panthers rallied back to take a 2-1 lead with goals from Astrid M. and Ana N. Taking that lead into halftime, the Panthers traded points with the opposing team, making the score 4-3 with Grace in the lead. BFS' third goal was scored by Ava Z. With less than 10 seconds to go, the Panthers rallied down the field and tied the game up with a goal from Ava V. for the exciting finish in the season opener. Although the game ended in a tie, the Panthers had a wonderful experience and are looking forward to their next match on Monday! Blue Pride!!

On Monday the BFS Boys Varsity Baseball Team played against York Prep in the ISAL Finals at Randalls Island #42 at 3:30pm. Blue Pride!!

The #4 seed Panthers faced off against #2 seed York Prep tonight in the ISAL Championship Game. The Panthers have had a little over a week off due to rain outs and overnight trips but the weather cooperated today and it was a great day to play a ball game. Unfortunately for BFS the bats came out a little flat and they were facing a hard throwing RH who was able to throw his fastball, curve and knuckle for strikes. The Panthers would be able to manage only a handful of hits in today’s game and couldn’t capitalize when runners were in scoring position. On the mound for BFS was Ty S. who has had an amazing year for the Panthers. York’s hitters were scrappy at the plate and were able to take advantage of a few bloop hits and some throwing errors in the field that allowed them to plate a couple of runners. Stolen bases and sac flies led to a few more for York and the Panthers found themselves in a 6-0 deficit that they couldn’t battle back from. While today’s loss stings the effort, determination, and dedication that this team showed just to find themselves in this final game should be what they carry with themselves in to the off season. From not finishing their season last year to being one of the last 2 teams to lace up their cleats and play is truly an applause worthy accomplishment. Great season Panthers! Next Year we finish what this year started.

On Monday the BFS Boys Varsity Baseball Team defeated Leman Prep 1-0 at Beautiful Bush Terminal Park in the second game of a doubleheader. Ty S. Threw a gem of a game throwing a one hitter and he scored the only run in the game for BFS. Charlie B. caught for the first time today and threw out two base runners. The Panthers have a must win tomorrow against BWL for the final playoff spot. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Girls Varsity Softball Team tied Garden 5-5 at beautiful Bush Terminal Park. BFS waited for over an hour for their opponent to arrive to this game. The players had to regroup and get ready to play ball at 5:00pm (instead of 4:00pm). BFS opened up the game with a leadoff hit by junior Nicole A., followed by an RBI double by freshman Lily B. Fellow freshman Sophia S. picked up and RBI hit and junior Maya H. was back in action and also picked up a RBI single. Nicole too to the hill and did a nice job during the bottom of the first inning. BFS was up 3-1 after one inning of play. In the top of the second inning Nicole and Lily picked up walks and junior Laila O. drove in her team leading 13th RBI of the season. Nicole pitched a one, two, three second inning on a total of nine pitches. Laila made a stellar play at third base snagging a grounder and firing the ball over to Lily at first base for the put out. In the top of the third inning BFS went down one, two, three. Then Garden did the same as Nicole picked up her first two strikeouts of the game. Nicole blasted a home run to get BFS back on the board and up 5-1. Garden came back with a home run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Laila made another very nice play at third base and Sophia caught a high pop up in foul territory. BFS was now only up 5-3 after four innings of play. Maya led off the 5th and hit a nice shot to right field but it was caught and BFs came up empty. Nicole pitched another solid inning with some help form her friends, Lily made a very nice play at first base. Going into the final inning due to the late start and time running out BFS was still up two runs and had the core of their line up coming up. But BFS went down one, two, three. So here we were, the final inning and BFS up 5-3. Garden's number three hitter blasted a home run and now Garden found themselves down one. Nicole revved up and strikeout their clean up hitter for her fourth strikeout of the game. Then Lily made another solid play at first base. BFS needed one more out to escape with the possible victory, but Garden needed one more run to tie the game. The six hitter in the order who grounded out twice to Laila at third was able to get one out to the outfield this time and she turned it into a triple. The pressure mounted, the fans were on the edge of their seats. The seventh hitter was able to work out an RBI hit to tie the game. Then Nicole promptly struck out the final batter and BFS ended the game tied 5-5. Thanks to all the Girls for a great game. On Tuesday the BFS Boys Varsity Baseball Team defeated Birch Wathen Lenox 11-4 at Red Hook. The Panthers faced BWL in their last regular season game of 2019. Sitting with a 5-6 record BFS needed to win in order to secure a .500 record and a 4th seeded playoff spot; something that the Panthers have fallen short of the last couple of years. Ty S. once again showed why he is the teams ace pitching all 5 innings and giving up only 4 runs with seven strikeouts. At the plate, the slumbering lumber finally woke up for the Panthers who scored in every inning and proved why they deserve a spot in this years playoffs. Ty, Finn S. , Coby W., Charlie B., Ben R., and Mirembe M-T all got on base multiple times and accounted for at least one run scored. The Panthers face off against the top seed LREI this Friday at Red Hook. We would LOVE to see some Panthers faithful out at the field to show our team some support, 3:30pm first pitch, hope to see you there! Blue Pride!!

On Wednesday the BFS Boys Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Garden 3-1 (25-18, 25-23, 23-25, 25-20) in the upper gym. The team we finished up its regular season at home and picked up the victory to clinch second place and advance to the ISAL Championship game on Friday. It was a close game throughout against a new opponent, but Friends came out on top. With mix of seniors and younger players BFS was able to give a good quality match with a strong finish. Next up, Friday's ISAL Championship Game against Leman Prep across the bridge at Leman. Then onto the and ACIS Semifinals on Monday against local rival Packer. Playoffs here we come. Blue Pride!!

On Thursday the BFS MS Boys Baseball Team defeated Bay Ridge Prep 7-2 at Shore Road Field. The team secured another winning season with the victory. Theo S. gave up two runs in the first, but was in complete control after, striking out seven en route to the win. Will M. led the way from the plate with six RBI's. Santiago M. had an RBI in the second inning to complete the scoring. Austin P. earned a walk in his first plate appearance of the season. Blue Pride!!

5/11/19

On Friday the BFS Boys Varsity Baseball Team defeated LREI 4-2 at Red Hoo in the ISAL Semifinals. The team will advance to the ISAL Championship Game on Monday May 13th at 3:30pm @ Randalls Island. The #4 seeded Panthers faced off against top seeded LREI in the playoffs. LREI came in holding a 9-1 record on the year, 2-0 against BFS, but in the playoffs the only game that matters is the one being played. Ty S. who has been an unstoppable force on the mound for the Panthers got the start today and held Elisabeth Irwin to only 1 hit through 4 innings of work. On the offensive side the Panthers struck first scoring twice in the top of the 1st inning and getting out to a quick lead. They’d plate another in the 3rd inning to take a 3-0 lead when Alex B. and Finn S. led off the inning with a double, followed by a triple. LREI would score one in the bottom of the 5th that the Panthers immediately answered in the top of the 6th after Ben R. hit a single down the line that scored Charlie B. Going in to the bottom of the 7th LREI was down 4-1 and refused to go quietly. Ty made quick work of the lead off batter getting him to roll over to Finn at first. A walk, a fly out, and a double set up the final out of the game. BFS leading 4-2 with a runner on second base, tying run at the plate and 2 outs. On a 2-1 count the LREI three hitter connected for a deep fly ball in between Alex in Leftfield and Mirembe M-T in Centerfield. Alex makes the call for the ball as it falls into his glove and with that out the Panthers find themselves in the ISAL Championships this Monday! They are hungry to complete this season with a final "W" and a league championship banner on the wall. Come support your BFS Panthers this Monday at 3:30pm at Randalls Island. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Volleyball Team lost to Leman Prep 3-1 (14-25, 16-25, 25-15, 15-25) at Leman in the ISAL Finals. The team represented BFS and Blue Pride!! After four electrical sets of our final ISAL match of the season our team came home with second place. With the best game played within the league, our Varsity Boys showed not only heart but a great quality of game against an honored opponent. The third set won by Friends was the best single set for this group played during the entire season. It has set up a higher standard to for our upcoming match against local rival Packer on Monday in the ACIS Semifinals. BFS fought until the last play and we showed what we are capable of. We represented well our school, with great spirit and team unity. We will go for more! Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Baseball Team defeated Packer 7-6 at Dyker Park to close out its season. The team used a tremendous rally to defeat neighborhood rival Packer in dramatic fashion. The Panthers had a rough start as Packer scored six runs in the first inning. After a mid inning speech, the team was fired up and put up five runs in the bottom of the first to close the gap. Theo S., Cal S., Will M., and Oliver G. led the offensive push. The second inning found starting pitcher Oliver G. in a bases loaded jam with one out. Cal S. came in relief to retire the side and not allow another run. James M. scored the tying run in the bottom of the second off a Baurice K. triple. Our opponents pitcher couldn't find the strike zone, walking the next two batters and ultimately walking Will M. allowing Baurice K. to score the winning run. Another exciting game and another great season in the books. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Girls Softball Team closed out its season with a tie against our fellow Quakers Friends Seminary at Bush Terminal. Way to go Friends! Blue Pride!!

On Monday the BFS MS Boys Baseball Team defeated LFNY 17-6 at beautiful Bush Terminal Field. Congrats to the Team as they picked up their second victory. The weather was a little chilly but the waterfront views were pictureesq. The offensive onslaught was led by Baurice K. who had a third inning grand slam, way to go Baurice. He finished the game with five RBI's. Cal S. added a two-run single and an RBI triple to help out his friends. Theo S. who came in to pitch in relief of Fox K. also contributed with four RBI's. Nice job all around. Everyone in the lineup reached base and scored at some point during the game. It was a fun game to see and be a part of on a brisk spring day. Blue Pride!!

On Wednesday the BFS MS Girls Softball Team defeated Staten Island Academy 19-9 in game one on a brisk day on the island. In the second game BFS and SIA played to a 14-14 tie. Thanks to Staten Island Academy for hosting and supply pizza. Blue Pride!!

On Friday the BFS MS Boys Baseball Team defeated Saint Ann's 11-4 on another beautiful spring day. The team overcame some tough field conditions and kept crucial mistakes to a minimum in the victory over local rival over Saint Ann’s. 7th grader Cal S. kept rolling in his 1st start after throwing a no-hitter. Nine hole hitter Theo S. hit a bases clearing double that broke the game wide open in the second inning and then finished the game off with a beautiful 1-2-3 inning to send us home. Blue Pride!!

On Wednesday the BFS MS Boys Baseball Team defeated UNIS 14-0 at Commodore Barry. It was a the best day of the season weather wise. The team picked up its first win of the season. The game was dominated by starting pitcher Cal S. who struck out eight and en route to the complete game no hitter. The highlight of the game came in the top of the fourth with one out and left fielder George A. fielded a well hit ball and threw the runner out at first to preserve the no hitter. Elijah S. led the offense going 2 for 3 with three RBI's. Baurice K. added a RBI triple and Will M. brought in two runs with his first inning double. Everyone showed patience at the plate and all members of the team got to play, and participate in the victory. Way to go Cal!! Way to go Team!! Blue Pride....

On Thursday the BFS Boys Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Berkeley Carroll 3-0 (25-22,25-23, 25-21) in the upper gym. Congratulations to the team for picking up their second win this season over ACIS rival Berkeley Carroll. After back to back away games, the Panthers were excited to return to their home court where they brought unparalleled energy and school spirit. Both teams exchanged points throughout the three sets, but in the end Brooklyn Friends would rally with consistent play and focus, and came out on top for the victory. Go Panthers! Blue Pride!!

On Monday the BFS Girls Varsity Softball Team defeated Churchill 11-3 at Van Voorhies. It was an extremely windy day at the field, one of the most ever on record. BFS took the field and competed, while trying to stay warm. With only 8 Players available to play today BFS was going to give its all. The 8th player just made the team bus before it departing from Downtown Brooklyn. Two players currently on the inured list were there to cheer on their teammates and show their support. BFS also had two team managers at the field to assist with things behind the scenes. Let the game begin. BFS had to wait for their opponent who was a little behind due to NYC traffic. It was Monday so that means BFS veteran star pitcher junior Nicole A. was on the mound. BFS was up first today as Churchill was the home team at Van Voorhies. Nicole led things off with a nice single to start the game. Lily B. and Sophia S. picked up walks, to load the bases after Garance struckout. Clara H. hit a ball back to the pitcher who calmly threw home to get the force out on. And then Laila O. went down on strikes. BFS came up empty in the top of the firs tinning. Nicole got Churchill's lead off batter to pop out to Garance at shortstop. The the second batter hit it back to Nicole who calmly threw over to Lily B. at first for the second out. Then after a couple hits and the first run of the game the next Churchill batter hit it to first base and Lily picked up the put out. Valentina R. led off the top of the second inning with a walk, Mira B-S made an out to first base, then Nicole picked up an RBI single (Val scored) followed by a walk from Garance, Lily made an out to first, then Sophia walked, and Clara hit a sharp grounder to first but was thrown out. BFS left the bases loaded for the second inning in a row. Nicole came out firing in the bottom half of the inning. She struck out the first batter swinging, followed by the second batter looking, then fielded her position and threw to first for the one, two, three inning. In the top of the third inning, Laila led off with a strikeout, then BFS picked up walks by Valentina and Mira. Nicole hit a hard ball that ended up being a fielders choice, but she drove in BFS' second run of the game. Then Garance struck out to end the inning. In the bottom of the third inning picked up another run to tie things up. Sophia threw out a Churchill runner stealing to leave their clean up batter up to start things off next inning. The weather was definitely not improving. BFS ordered some pizza to pick up everyone spirit a little bit and to try to get through this windy and chilly spring afternoon. It was 2-2 going into the top of the fourth inning. It was looking like this may be the last inning due to numerous factors. Lily in the three hole led things off and away BFS would go. This was their inning. A leadoff walk, followed by a nice hit by Sophia, another nice hit by Clara, another big hit by Laila, walks by Mira and Nicole, a hit by Garance, another hit by Clara and by Laila (2 each for the inning) and BFS scored nine runs to open things up and take a 11-3 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning. Nicole gave a up a line drive double to Churchill's clean up hitter, then took care of business by striking out the next batter looking, fielding her position and throwing over to first for out number two. Out number three was made by Clara at second base, she snagged a hard ground ball that looked like it was going to find a hole on its way to right field, and made a stellar play, and threw over to first and Lily secured the final put out of the game. Warm up the bus, it was time to go and get back to BFS. The Team came away with the "W". It was their second win of the season. Nice job. Taking care of business. The BFS Boys Varsity Baseball Team defeated Friends Seminary 7-6 at Bush Terminal. The Panthers squared off against the fellow Quakers. It was a very windy day up against the water which made every pop up an adventure. BFS fell into a quick hole allowing two runs in the first inning while only being able to muster up two base runners through the first three innings of play. Despite the lack of base runners the BFS batters were working counts and making the opposing pitcher work his way up his pitch count. Friends Seminary would score one run in the 3rd inning and two in the 4th inning taking a 5-0 lead going in to the bottom of the 4th. Ty S. led off the 4th with a double, followed by Finn S. who had a single, and Mirembe M. who worked a walk. Taking advantage of a few pass balls and a balk, the Panthers were able to plate three runs in the 4th inning to pull within two runs. Ethan K. would come in for Finn S. on the mound in the 5th only allowing one run and keeping the Panthers in the game. Down three going in to the bottom of the 5th inning, Ethan K. led off the inning with a single followed by a walk from Charlie B. Ethan would be thrown out on a caught stealing but Jack B., Ty S., and Finn S. all worked out walks in their at bats to load the bases and in the process pull the Panthers to within one run with two outs left. Ty S. would score on a dropped third strike during Mirembe's at bat that was the second out of the inning to tie the game. Ben R. and Alex B. both fought in their at bats to work walks which loaded the bases for Ethan S. With two outs, the bases loaded, and a tie game, in the last inning because of the time limit, Friends Seminary put in a new lefty pitcher. Ethan S. came to plate knowing a hit wins the game. With a 1-2 count, Ethan S. fought off two high fastballs to keep his at bat alive. Finn S. had been getting a very large secondary lead off of third because of the pitcher being a lefty with a slow delivery home. On a 1-2 curveball count Coach Talty called for a straight steal of home for the win. Finn S. got an amazing jump and finished with a head first slide into home for the win as the pitcher bounced a curveball on the plate. BFS beats Friends Seminary 7-6 in another come from behind thriller! The Panthers improved to 4-1 overall on the season. The team will look to avenge their only loss so far against LREI tomorrow afternoon at Red Hook. Hoping for some more sun and less wind. Blue Pride!!

On Tuesday the BFS Boys Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Grace 3-2 (20-25, 25-22, 25-21, 13-25, 15-4) on the road. Nice win. Congratulations to the team for picking up their second win of the season over the Grace Church School in ACIS League play. The game was an exhilarating thrill ride from beginning to end, as Friends started a brand new squad of players for the first two and a half sets. The younger players played with great determination, and as they shed their initial inaugural game jitters, they brought a skill level that matched their older more experienced teammates. This game would go all three sets with Friends coming from behind in the third set and overcoming Grace's nine-point lead. By the fourth set, Grace rallied with consistent play and heart, determined not to lose on their home court. In the end, Brooklyn Friends entered the fifth and final set with unrivaled energy and fervor for the convincing 15-4 finish. Go Panthers! Blue Pride!!

On Monday the BFS Boys Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Churchill 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-15) in the upper gym. Congrats to the team. The team continues looking more comfortable while making progress during game situations. BFS played a consistent game defeating their opponent 3-0, showing a better understanding of the rotation and teamwork. In yesterday's victory Friends' powerful serves and consistent level of play with both the starters and subs displayed all the efforts from the preseason conditioning work paying off; even when new players joined the game throughout the three sets the solid quality of play never diminished. Way to go team. Blue pride!

The BFS Girls Varsity Softball Team defeated Bay Ridge Prep 12-11 at Van Voorhies. Oh what a game....Thanks to all the fans that showed up to witness this thriller. You had to be there....BFS and Bay Ridge Prep ended up tied at 11 going into BFS' final at bat at 5:45pm. It was a walk off victory for BFS, oh what a feeling....Congrats to both Teams & Programs. Way to go. Blue Pride all around....BFS took the field on another beautiful warm sunny day. The team of ten today got in their warm up and they were ready to go. The Players were assigned their positions & duties, and went over their pregame notes. Then it was time to play against their opponent Bay Ridge Prep. It was the teams second game of the young season. Veteran ace junior Nicole A. took the mound. Her battery mate was freshman Sophia S. our teams catcher. Freshman Lily B., one of our young leaders was once again assigned first base. Sophomores Sasha I., Garrance S-M, and Mira B-S once again rounded out the infield at second base, shortstop, and third base respectivley. Sophomore Laila O. was back in centerfield, with sophomore Clara H. by her side in left field, and freshman Delila L. in right center, and Valentina R. back in right field. Coach Dave was back on the sidelines in his 7th season with his assistant coach Lydia G. It was now time to Play Ball. Lets Go BFS!! Nicole threw her first pitch of the season for a strike and we were ready to go. Nicole A. who has basically pitched almost every inning the past two seasons, since blazing onto the softball scene had to to try to get through BRP's top three hitters who were extremely skilled. She gave up a couple hits to start the game, including a three run home run. Then she fielded her position to retire the first BRP batter. Then got the next two batters to ground out to Sasha I. who threw over nicely to Lily at first base to close out the inning. It was now BFS' turn at bat. Bay Ridge Prep's pitcher was skilled and could bring the heat, but she had some issues with control and location. She ended up plunking Nicole our leadoff batter. Then Garance walked, and Sasha was also hit by a pitch. Lily walked to drive in BFS' first run, Delila did the same, and Laila came up with a big RBI hit. BFS tied things up at three after one inning of play. Nicole settled in on the mound and got the lead off hitter to pop out to Garance at shortstop. Then picked up her first strikeout of the season and a batters interference call. BFS picked up a run in the bottom half of the inning as Valentina led things off with a walk and scored a run to give BFS the 4-3 lead after two innings of play. BFS gave up three runs in the top of the third inning. BFS came back with two more of their own as Laila came up with another big hit, a 2 RBI single. Nicole had to once again face BRP's top three hitters, and they where able to come up with a triple, single, and another triple respectively. BFS was able to get out of the inning by turning its first double play of the season. Lily caught a pop up and ran back to first base to take care of business. BFS kept working and fighting, as clean up batter Mira led of the bottom of the fourth with a walk. Followed by another walk by Lily, then after an out, BFS got another walk from Delila. Once agin Laila stepped into the batters box in another key situation. She did not disappoint. Laila came up with her third big hit of the game, an RBI single. Clara and Valentina followed that up with walks and Nicole picked up 2 RBI's during her at bat to give BFS a 11-9 lead. Time was running out, so we were now entering the final inning of play. Nicole was able to work out of a little jam by getting BRP to ground the able to Garance at shortstop who threw over to second base to cut down the lead runner for the first out of the inning. Nicole snagged a line drive for out number two. And after BRP picked up two runs during the inning Delila who was now at second base caught a grounder and threw over to Lily at first to close things out. The game was now tied at 11 a piece. BFS needed one run for the victory and to avoid its second tie on the young season. BRP put in a new pitcher and Garance who led off in Game number one and who was in two hole for this game calmly walked. After a throwing error she was able to touch all the bases and score the winning run, as BFS walked off for the victory, their first one of the season. What a memorable game! Blue Pride!! On Tuesday the BFS Boys Varsity Baseball Team defeated Birch Wathen Lenox 14-5 at Red Hook. It was the Teams first league game of the season. Both teams were hoping the sun was going to come out, but not today. Ty S. started on the hill for the Panthers and had a great outing logging 4 K’s and giving up two runs through 4 innings. BWL would score three in the 5th to tie the game at five a piece and knock Ty out of the game. Tied 5-5 in the top of the 6th the patient BFS batters worked several counts into walks, took advantage of a few pass balls, and got one big double from Jack B. BFS now up three runs, turned to Ethan K. to get the final six outs. In the bottom of the 6th Ethan only faced three batters thanks to Ty S. hosing the only base runner of the inning who tried to steal second. The Panthers would bat around during the 7th inning scoring six more insurance runs and putting the Panthers up nine going into the final frame. A walk followed by a double play and then a grounder to third would close things out and give the Panthers their second win of the season. BFS improved to 2-0, 1-0 in the ISAL league. Key Hits: Charlie B. 2-3 with 2 walks, Jack B. 3-5 with a Grand Slam Homerun. Blue Pride!!

On Wednesday the BFS Boys Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Berkeley Carroll 3-0 (25-23, 27-25, 25-12) on the road. Today's victory over Berkeley Carroll is best described by one word, HEART! Mutual respect and grit were exhibited by both programs, as they entered this game with great determination and focus. This match was particularly sentimental, as it was the first time both squads faced one another since last year's ACIS playoffs, where Berkeley Carroll was victorious. This afternoon the tides turned as Brooklyn Friends landed a powerful 3-0 win on BC's home court. The first two sets were incredibly close, with the players matching each other's points; but by the final third set BFS emerged with the convincing 25-12 win. Go Panthers! Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Girls Softball Team defeated Friends Seminary 13-10 at Van Voorhies. The team opened up its season on a beautiful spring day against fellow Quakers. What a great way to start, 1-0. Blue Pride Runs Deep Friends Forever! Blue Pride!!

On Tuesday the BFS Boys Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Grace 3-0 (25-14, 25-6, 25-14) in the upper gym. Congratulations to the Team, Players, and Coaches. Both teams welcomed new players and new coaches for the 2019 season, BFS and Grace entered this first game of the new season with immense energy and school pride. Valiant efforts were given by both programs, but in the end Brooklyn Friends came out on top with strategic serves by the veteran players and a growing understanding of the game by all involved. BFS looks forward to their next home game against York Prep on Thursday. Blue Pride!!

On Wednesday the BFS Boys Varsity Baseball Team defeated Martin Luther at Red Hook. It was the Teams Season and Home Opener. The Panthers would came out of the first inning leading 3-1 behind Ethan K. who struck out the side in his first inning of work in the 2019 season. The lead would be short lived as the Martin Luther Cougars scored 6 in the third inning to take an 8-3 lead. BFS answered back scoring three runs in the 3rd and three again in the 4th inning behind solid pitching from Jack B. (who also fell a HR shy of the cycle) to tie the game at nine going in to the 5th inning. In the 5th the Cougars scored four runs, BFS answered back with two runs of their own. Ty S. came in to pitch the final two innings for the Panthers and shut down Martin Luther in the 6th striking out two of the four batters he faced. Down two going in to their last six at bats the Panthers woke up at the plate and batted around the order scoring seven runs in the inning to take a five run lead into the last inning. Ty continued to throw strikes in the 7th to close the game out and give the Panthers their first win of the season. It was an exciting way to start the season. The Panthers showed a ton of fight tonight and are excited to see what they can accomplish this season. Key Hits: Ty S. 5-5 (4 runs scored), Alex B. Solo Homerun, Jack B. On Thursday the BFS Boys Varsity Volleyball Team defeated York Prep 3-1 (25-18, 21-25, 25-19, 26-24) in the upper gym. Congratulations to the Team, Players, and Coaches. The Boys Varsity Volleyball Team showed tremendous grit and determination with today's victory over an ISAL rival, York Prep. Today's win was a fun and exciting roller coaster ride that demonstrated the players' resilience and focused attention on the court. Both teams traded wins in the first two sets; BFS rallied for a convincing win in the third set, and after falling behind twice in the fourth set, BFS came back for the win over York Prep. Each set presented a great learning experience for our young squad, preparing the team for our upcoming league games. The team will be back in action on Friday versus Leman Prep. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Girls Varsity Softball Team played a memorable Opening Day Game versus Garden School at Van Voorhies. Oh what a game....Thanks to all the fans that showed up to witness this thriller. You had to be there....BFS and Garden ended up tied at 12 at 6:05pm. It was the first GVSB Tie Game to my knowledge (since 2003). Congrats to both Teams & Programs. Way to go. Blue Pride all around....BFS took the field on a beautiful sunny day. The team got in a great warm up as you could see the group of nines confident build in anticipation. Players were assigned their positions and duties on the bus with some pregame notes. Then it was finally time to play ball when their opponent Garden arrived. The 2018 season ended with BFS playing Garden and the 2019 season opened up with BFS playing Garden. Newcomer and freshman Delila L. took to the mound. Her battery mate was fellow freshman Sophia S. Another freshman Lily B., one of our young leaders was assigned first base. Sophomores Sasha I., Garrance S-M, and Mira B-S rounded out the infield at second base, shortstop, and third base respectively. And sophomore Laila O. was in center, with freshman Valentina R. on one side in left field and fellow freshman Eve L. on the other side in right field, both new to the team and the game. Coach Dave was back on the sidelines for his 7th season with his assistant Lydia G. It was now time to Play Ball. Lets Go BFS!! Delila threw the first pitch of the season for a strike and the coach breathed a sigh of relief. Our junior pitcher Nicole A. who has basically pitched almost every inning the past two seasons, since blazing onto the softball scene was unable to attend the game due to school commitment. BFS started a little slow as Delila found her rhythm. After giving up a walk and a hit, Delila ("D") picked up a strikeout, but then gave up another hit which led to Garden's first two runs. They picked up another run after a lined drive hit to center field, but in the process Laila made a great throw to third base where Mira tagged out the Garden runner to get BFS out of the inning down 3-0. BFS's sophomores looked ready to go after their 2018 campaign where they learned the ropes. After leadoff hitter Garance was retired on a strong play by the Garden shortstop, Laila singled, Sasha grounded out, Mira picked up a single, and then it was Lily's first varsity at bat. And she calmly blasted a line drive to left field that rolled all the way to the fence, which ended up in triple. Sophia was hit by a pitch. Delila singled and then Valentina strikeout. It was now a 3-3 tie. Delila and the BFS defense looked extremely sharp in the top of the second inning when "D" retired the first two batters by getting them to ground to her and she calmly threw over to Lily at first. Then she gave up a walk but came right back and snagged a line drive off the Garden bat to set them down without giving up a run. BFS had a big second inning. Eve in her first plate appearance of her career started things off with a walk. Then Garance did the same. Laila then blasted a shot and touched all the bases for a 3 Run Homerun. Then Sasha, Mira, and Lily walked. Then Delila, Valentina (first career), and Eve (first career) picked up hits. BFS batted around and scored 7 in the inning, and took a 9-3 lead. Delila had another strong inning in the third. She got the leadoff batter to hit it to Sasha at second who made a fine play and threw it over to Lily at first for the put out. Delila gave up a hit but got the next batter to hit it to her and she tossed it over it first for out number two. Then a walk gave Garden two base runners but Deilia beared down and caught a pop up to close out the top of the inning and maintain BFS' lead. In the bottom half of the third, Sasha led off with a hit, Mira hit a liner to right field but the Garden player was well positioned and was able to throw to first to get Mira. Lily and Sophia picked up hits, and then Delila walked to load the bases. BFS then went down with two strikeouts and was only able to add one run to increase the lead to 10-3 after three innings of play. In the top of the fourth inning BFS ran into some trouble. After three straight walks, "D" picked up a much needed strikeout, then gave up a hit, followed by another strike out. Then Garden's strong number two hitter came up with a big hit, then a walk to the three hitter, and now "D" had to face Garden's cleanup hitter. And she blasted a Grand Slam....But wait, after an appeal to third one of the runners was called out for not touching third base. BFS was now out of the inning, but found themselves only up 10-8. The Coaches and Umpires discussed things as time and permit issues were now upon us. We decided to play one more inning. BFS went down 1, 2, 3, which did not help their cause going into the final frame. In the top of the fifth Delila was trying to close things out, but after three strong walks BFS was in for another troubling inning. Garden scored 4 runs and it was until Lily grabbed a screaming line drive BFS got out of the inning. Garden took a 12-10 lead into the bottom of the fifth. Mira came up with a big lead off walk. Lily went down with a strikeout. Sophia grounded to first, but did pick up a RBI to get BFS within a run. Delila came up with a huge hit. Then promptly stole second, third. Valentina walked. Eve stepped up to the plate with two outs. Coach Dave picked a spot to send Delila home for the game tying steal. And Garden was able to retire the last batter....12-12, what a memorable Opening Day!! Congrats to BOTH TEAMS. The BFS US Boys & Girls Squash Team participated in a Match versus Avenues at Eastern Athletic Health Club. BFS played their final match of the season. Our players have vastly improved since the beginning of the season and should be proud of their progress. We lost a tough one 3-4, but our team is proud of their wins and growth. As always, BFS demonstrated strong sportsmanship and also enjoyed watching each other's matches and games. We are proud of their achievements and look forward to our next season!

Game Highlights for Week of February 11th, 2019

2/12/19

On Monday the BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated LREI 98-41 in the ISAL Semifinals in the lower gym in front of the home crowd. BFS jumped out early and never looked back. It was the last home game for our 5 seniors. The seniors did their part, Kwesi C-S and Jailen L. each had 14 points, and Oliver S-P had 11 points. The Panthers were powered by the junior tandem of Finn S. and Ty S. Finn finished with 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals, as well as an exclamation dunk, and Ty finished with 19 points. Next up the ISAL Finals against Churchill on Wednesday at Leman Prep. The Panthers are making their third straight appearance in the ISAL Championship Game. Both teams split the regular season at 1-1. This will be a rematch from last years ISAL Final Game. The team is looking forward to it. The winner of this game not only wins the ISAL Championship, but also a birth to the NYSAIS State Tournament. Blue Pride!!

2/13/19

On Tuesday the BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated LREI 67-43 in the ISAL Semifinals. The team was in playoff action, as they took on LREI. It was only fitting that BFS played LREI in the playoffs because they were the only team to beat BFS in league play. The game started off with a few lead changes but the Panthers quickly pulled away and by halftime the score was 32-16. From then on the Panthers never looked back as they pulled away and advanced to the ISAL Finals. Leading the way were freshman guards Alex B., Charlie B., and sophomore center Nicolas M. The ISAL Championship Game is scheduled for Thursday February 14th @Leman Prep at 4:00pm. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Avenues 56-15 on the road. The Panthers played their final away game of the season. Kai S. gets the hot hand of the night award going 4-6 from beyond the arc contributing a total of 16 points for BFS. The 2nd half defense was stellar only allowing 4 points during the entire half. The team improved to 12-2 on the season and are looking to finish strong. The MS Boys finish their season on Wednesday 2/13, against local rival Packer in the lower gym. Come show your support! 2/14/19

On Wednesday the BFS MS Girls Basketball Team defeated Churchill 41-8 in the lower gym. The Panthers returned to action in their last game of the season with the vengeance of a seasoned team who had previously lost their way. With a new perspective and regained confidence, the Panthers took their home court with pride and fury. Every player on the team saw action in the event, as the 8th graders naturally led the Panthers to a victory. The emotion and passion in the arena was evident from the jump, as the Panthers traded baskets with the opposing team throughout the first quarter. Kicking into another gear, the Panthers took control of the game in the second quarter and refused to look back. Stubbornly, the Panthers imposed their resilient will upon their opponent. A nine point lead at halftime was not comfort enough for the Panthers, as they extended the lead beyond reach throughout the second half. Displaying their best efforts, the Panthers showed their athletic prowess, and acquired skill and knowledge throughout the last game of the season. It was the teams fifth victory and final game of the season. What a great way to end the season. Congrats to all the players and coaches. Thanks to all the fans and their support. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Packer 39-27 in the lower gym. The team ended their season on a winning note. The victory was the teams historic 15th (tying 2015-16). The game was won on the back of the teams defense, led by full court pressure from guards Khari M. and Jackson B. The combination of Will M., Elijah S., Fox K., Garrett R. and Kai S. all came up with clutch steals throughout the game as well. All throughout the year, this team fought hard and embraced the defensive and hustle mindset set forth by their coaches. It was overall a great and hard-fought season. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

2/15/19

On Thursday the BFS MS Boys & Girls Squash Teams participated in a Match at Eastern Athletic Health Club. This was the teams last match of the season. Since it was our last match of the season, we enjoyed a series of short scrimmages. Each student played and gave forth their best effort and ran down each and every ball. As always, BFS demonstrated exemplary sportsmanship. Even after the match ended, students from both schools continued to play "King/Queen of the Court" and enjoyed learning from each other. Blue Pride!!

The BFS US Boys & Girls Varsity Swim Teams participated in the ISAL Championship Meet at Leman Prep Pool. What a great season ending event. Thanks to everyone is participated and was involved in making the event a success. The BFS high school swimmers improved all their swim times for their events. The coaches are extremely proud that each and every swimmer improved in their technic to shave seconds off their times. The boys swim team placed third overall for the 200 yard freestyle relay. What a great day in the pool. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated BWL 57-46 in the ISAL Finals. It was the teams 20th victory of the season. The most wins for a BFS JV Basketball Team ever. 2019 League and Playoffs Champions, way to go. With the season riding on the line, the JV Panthers were in action in the ISAL Championship game against BWL. BFS started out slow but mad a great run to go up ten points in the the first quarter 18-8. Basketball is a game of runs and BWL made their run and soon the game would be a battle of lead changes. It wasn't until the 4th and final quarter where BFS would pull away and push the lead up to fifteen points. Led by the teams outstanding defenders Mohammad F., Mirembe M-T, Alex B., Charlie B., Zack E. and he man in the middle Nick M. On the offensive end there was stellar play from sophomore guard Henry L. who knocked down some key threes and finished with a game and season high of 18 points. The BFS JV Panthers came away with the win,the Championship victory, and the hardware, an ISAL Plaque and Trophy!! Blue Pride Runs Deep, Friends Forever!!

On Monday the BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated BHMS 48-31 on the road. The team walked over to play local opponent Brooklyn Heights Montessori. It was a hectic game from the tip with both teams struggling to control the ball and run a fluid offense. Up four points at the half the Panthers saw big minutes from their bench players who took control of the game during the third quarter building a ten point lead going into the 4th and final quarter. Mauricio L., Ezra R., Itai, Santi M., and Iden O. played shutdown defense in the 3rd quarter holding BHMS to only four total points. The team defense continued to hold strong and a few more made buckets helped the Panthers cruise to another victory. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated LREI 54-24 in the lower gym. After suffering their only loss in the league an the hands of LREI, the Panthers had some revenge on their minds. After holding their opponents to single digits until halfway through the 3rd quarter, the Panthers pulled away and ended the game with the victory. The team was led by freshman guard/forward Luc A. who finished with 12 points and 4 assists. Blue Pride!!

On Tuesday the BFS Girls Basketball Team defeated Rudolf Steiner 40-25 in the lower gym. BFS started out slow again with unforced turnovers, but the players and team regrouped. BFS dropped a couple threes and from then on, the defense and fastbreak opportunities supported the scoring. The ball moved well for most of the game, putting their opponent on their heels and created foul trouble in the third quarter. BFS was able to build on its lead at the free throw line by knocking down some freebies. Blue Pride!!

2/7/19

On Wednesday the BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Churchill 48-25 on the road. The Panthers traveled to Churchill on Wednesday for the first of back to back away games this week. The team was missing three of their five starters but that didn’t let that their confidence get down. Seventh graders Cal S. and Itai K. ran a solid back court to start the game and gave the fans a quick preview of what next year could have in store for the Panthers. All 11 BFS players recorded a bucket in the game. Leading the offensive effort was 8th grader “Hot Hand” Mauricio L. who tallied up 10 points going 2-3 from 3 point land including one swished heat check from well beyond the arc. On defense Fox “The Animal” K. played his best game of the year forcing numerous turnovers, grabbed 5 rebounds, and relentlessly going after the ball until the whistle blew. It was a great team win by the Panthers. Next up is Bay Ridge Prep and BFS is hungry for another win. Blue Pride!!

On Thursday the BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Rudolf Steiner 62-39 in the lower gym. In the final game of the regular season, the JV Panthers took on Rudolf Steiner. With 1st place already locked up, this game was more for the team to keep fine tuned as they roll into the playoffs. Led by sophomore center Nicolas McBean who had a monster game, putting in 20 points and pulling in 22 rebounds. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Bay Ridge Prep 55-37 on the road. The team took care of business and improved to 11-2 overall. Jackson B. took control of the floor when he was out there “swishing and dishing”, as Clyde Frazier would say. Will M. had a monster game on both ends of the floor before an injury sidelined him for the second half. It’s been a good week for the Panthers who logged 3 W’s onto their record. The team looks to finish strong with an away game against Avenues on 2/12 and our last game at home against local rival Packer on 2/13. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Avenues 63-48 on the road. Blue Pride!!

The BFS US Boys & Girls Squash Team participated in a Match versus Grace at Eastern Athletic Health Club. Our players worked hard to chase down every ball on the court. BFS players supported each other during their plays and many students recognized their improvement from the beginning of the season. They demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and were welcoming of Avenues to our home court. We look forward closing out the season strong in our two remaining matches. Blue Pride!!

The BFS US Boys & Girls Swim Team participated in an ISAL Meet at Leman Prep. Our swimmers did a great job representing BFS. We are proud of them and they all had a great time. The girls and boys took part in the 200 yards freestyle relay. The boys and girls both finished in 3rd place. BFS also did well in the individual events. Sophomore Avery L. came in 2nd overall for the girls 200 yards IM event. Sophomore Renzy M-Y came in 3rd overall for the boys 200 yards freestyle. Looking forward to next meet, which is the final meet of the season, the championship meet. Blue Pride!!

1/29/19

On Monday the BFS MS Girls Basketball Team defeated York Prep 12-11 on the road. The Panthers once again traveled to Manhattan to take on their opponent. A defensive struggle ensued as both teams struggled to trade baskets throughout the exhibition. The game was tied 8-8 at the half. All of the Panthers saw action in the game as the team needed every ounce of effort to come away with the victory. Looking for any advantage, the Panthers reached deep into their reserves. Margot D. came off the bench in the second half with a spark of energy that inspired and motivated the Panthers to take control of the game. With under two minutes left in the game, her sister Ava D. made a go ahead basket putting the Panthers up by one point. They were able to stop the following efforts from York Prep to finish the game on top. The Panthers look forward to their next game versus LREI today. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated York Prep 62-54 on the road. The Panthers were hyped up going in to this game. York and BFS were in a tie for second place and the boys were looking to come out on top by games end. The Panthers press defense gave the York ball handlers fits for the majority of the game and led to easy two point opportunities off of turnovers. BFS' offense was led by Jackson B. who scored 18 points and Khari M. who had 15 points. Ellis B. coming off of a preseason injury saw his first game action of the year and put in some quality minutes where he hustled to grab a few offensive rebounds. Cal S. and Elijah S. while not having a “stat sheet” game provided some awesome hustle and defensive play. It was a nice team win. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated York Prep 70-42 in the lower gym. It was close at the half as BFS was up by a basket. The Panthers led the charge during the third quarter to open things up. The teamwork was evident. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated York Prep 58-39 in the lower gym. Both teams battled back and forth from the first quarter to the third quarter, but the Panthers outscored their opponent during the final quarter 21-11, which ended up being the deciding factor. The Panthers were led by Kwesi S. who finished with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 steals. Finn S. had 13 points and 14 rebounds. Ty S. came off the bench to give the team a much needed boost with 10 points and 4 steals. Jailen L. chipped in with scored 7 points and 4 rebounds. Blue Pride!!

On Wednesday the BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Churchill 69-24 in the lower gym. In was a great team effort. The Panthers were led by freshman guard Xavier G. with 11 points and sophomore forward Oscar M. who had 8 points. It was a balance attack with every player scoring at least two points. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

2/1/19

On Thursday the BFS Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated Bay Ridge Prep 47-17 in the lower gym. The Panther got off to a slow start after going straight from the classroom to the court. Trailing 4-2 they pulled together and picked things up. BFS was up 25-10 at the half. In was a great team effort. The Panthers were led by January Athlete of the Month sophomore Victoria L. who exploded for a game high 31 points in the shooting guard position. All six players at the game contributed. Fadila S. inherited the point guard position and did a masterful job moving the ball and playing solid 3/4 quarter defense. Sasha R. dropped in 10 points, Franka M-T played well, Lizzy G. had some nice moments on the court, and it was great to have Kennedy W. back in action. All good signs for the future of the team and program. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Leman Prep 71-65 in the lower gym. The game was close throughout. BFS pulled away at the end. In was a great team effort. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated FASNY 81-40 on the road. The team traveled up to Westchester for the victory. BFS was tied at 23 at the half. Things changed during the second half of action. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys & Girls Swim Team participated in a Meet at Leman Prep. BFS, Leman Prep, and British International competed in the pool. It was the third meet of the season for this team. Our swimmers did a great job representing BFS. We are proud of them and they all had a great time. Blue Pride!!

1/23/19

On Tuesday the BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Elisabeth 61-47 in the lower gym. The team got out to an early lead and never looked back. Playing a tough oppoent who kept it close throughout. BFS' solid defense, unselfish offense, and a well balanced attack were the recipe for the Panthers victory. Sean K., Jackson B., and Khari M. all finished with 11 points each, along Will M. who chipped in with 9 points, and Cal S. had 8 points. The boys look to keep the momentum going against Mary McDowell on Wednesday, another team that is currently undefeated in league play. Let’s go Panthers! Blue Pride!!

1/24/19

On Wednesday the BFS MS Girls Basketball Team defeated Mary McDowell 21-14 on the road. The Panthers took the court today in Carroll Gardens. After trailing for the majority of the game, the Panthers outscored their opponents 10-2 in the final quarter. Big buckets from Remi I., Rayanna S., and Ava D. in the second half gave the Panthers life. Defensive efforts from Eliza B-S, Amelia S., and Gabrielle K. kept the Panthers in the game. Astrid M. also chipped in with a poignant basket. The entire team saw action, and helped BFS pick up the impressive victory. The Panthers look forward to their next game against Garden on Friday. On Friday the BFS Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated Mary McDowell 32-25 in the lower gym. Talk about nip and tuck, low scoring first quarter 4-2 BFS. The the Panthers opened up a ten point lead in the second quarter, but MMFS was relentless and came all the way back to tie the game. The BFS girls checked up and put it in another gear. Vicky L., started dropping buckets, Fadila S. shut down the opponent, while Sasha R. controlled the boards as the Panther came out on top. Thanks to all the fans that showed up to support the team. The BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Garden 54-19 on the road. The Panthers were coming off of their first league loss of the season with a vengeance. Right from the tip the boys played stellar defense forcing turnovers and bucketing thirteen points before Garden scores their first. Up 26-3 at the half with big minutes from Fox K., Mauricio L., and Isaiah S. The second half started to get a little chippy but the boys held their composure and closed out a well played and hard fought game with a big win. Their next game is Monday against York Prep. The BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Birch Wathen Lenox 58-42 across the bridge at Leman Prep. After a few days off the BFS JV Panthers were back in action in a league game versus BWL. The last time they met, BFS narrowly came away with a 55-52 win. This time would would be very different. BFS jumped out early and held BWL to only four points in the first quarter. The Panthers never looked back. Led by freshman guard Alex B. who had 14 points, and key contributions from came fellow freshman center Wyatt S. who finished with 6 points and 8 boards. It was a nice win after a week of exams. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Mary McDowell 67-45 in the lower gym. The Panthers faced off against a fellow Friends School in. BFS was on the losing end last time these two teams met right before the winter break. The Panthers are 8-1 in the ISAL and currently in 1st place while MMFS is tied for 3rd place. This game was all about runs. BFS led 20-10 after the first quarter and never looked back. The star of the game was Finn S. who finished with a game high 23 points including and exciting dunk. Kwesi S. chipped in with 16 points. This duo was too much for MMFS to handle as the Panthers rolled to victory in front of a packed home gym. It was a nice win after a week of exams. Way to go team. On Tuesday the BFS MS Girls Basketball Team defeated Birch Wathen Lenox 15-12 in the lower gym. Coming off of their first win, the Panthers were back in action. In a back and forth battle, the Panthers showed a defensive prowess and pressure that greatly interrupted their opponents offense. Turning the aforementioned defense into offense, the Panthers were able to convert on turnovers and fast break points to hold the lead throughout the game. The game home team came off on top in front of an energetic crowd. The team is rolling with two wins in a row. The Panthers are looking forward to their next game. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated UNIS 78-39 in the lower gym. The team picked up a non-league victory. Blue Pride!!

1/17/19

On Wednesday the BFS Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated Bay Ridge Prep 55-25 on the road. BFS played well as a unit, even though they were short handed due to injuries and illness'. The team moved to the ball well, Victoria L. stepped up to play the center spot, and did a great job, dropping in a game high 25 points. While the Lady Panthers are left with a smaller unit on the floor, we are more dependent on an aggressive defense and need for speed. Fadila S. is honing her defensive skills challenging for the ball. Cyrah J. is driving to the hoop and attacking the defense, Nicole A. is very aggressive defensive. Our teams swarming of the ball allowed for BFS to get some great looks, which led to some easy baskets. The team is working hard to finish the season strong. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Leman Prep 64-57 on the road. The team traveled over the bridge to pick up the victory. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Rudolf Steiner 57-42 in the lower gym. The Panthers jumped out to a quick lead in the 1st Quarter and worked hard to maintain the lead for the entire game. Up six points at the half, the boys turned up the intensity up during the 3rd Quarter. Sean K. led the offensive rush, while Santi M., Will M., and Q'oshae R. provided energetic defense, and grabbed numerous boards on both ends of the court. The boys improved to 6-1 overall on the year. Next up for the Panther is another game in the lower gym versus BWL on Thursday. Blue Pride!!

1/18/19

On Thursday the BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Birch Wathen Lenox 64-56 in overtime in the lower gym. The team won a thriller in front of the home crowd. BFS trailed by as many as sixteen during the game but pieced together a comeback in the 3rd and 4th Quarters. Jackson B. finished with a game high 26 points, including eleven in the fourth quarter, and seven in the overtime period. Jackson hit a free throw at the end of the 4th quarter to tie the game after scoring several consecutive baskets. Khari M. finished with 13 points, and Q'oshae R. added 11 points for BFS. It was another impressive league victory. The team improved to 7-1 overall. Blue Pride!!

The BFS US Boys & Girls Squash Team participated in a Match versus Grace at Eastern Athletic Health Club. As always, our players demonstrated good sportsmanship, competed, and represented BFS. Our players worked hard to chase down every ball and be consistent with their serves. It was an exciting match with some of our players getting on the court in a game for the first time. As always, BFS demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, welcoming the other team and cheering along during the game. The team looks forward to honing their skills at the upcoming practices and matches. The BFS players enjoyed themselves and had fun. The team looks forward to the rest of the season to continue working hard and improving. Blue Pride!!

Game Highlights for Week of January 7th, 2019

1/11/19

On Thursday the BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Dwight in the lower gym. It was the teams first game back after the Winter Break. The Panthers defense was stifling right from the tip, holding their opponent to only six points in each of the first two quarters. Offensively the Panthers moved the ball very well and worked for open shots. Every player except for two recorded a bucket on the stat sheet. Kai S. and Garrat R. led the scoring effort with 8 points each. The boys improved their overall record now to 4-1, and picked up their first league win of the season. Next up is an away game against Lehman Prep this Friday. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Churchill on the road. In the first game back from the winter break, the BFS JV Panthers were back in action in a league game against Churchill. From the beginning, the Panthers came out strong by forcing 20+ turnovers in the first half alone. With strong play from sophomore guard Mirembe M-T and junior forward Jesse I., both finishing with 12 points BFS cruised to victory. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Churchill on the road. The Panthers looked to start the 2019 year off right and with a "W". Both teams are combined 12-2 in league play,BFS is 5-1 and Churchill is 7-1. The game started off slow for both teams as the first quarter ended with BFS up 6-5 in front of a high energy crowd. During the 2nd and 3rd quarters, the defensive intensity picked up, BFS had 14 steals in the game. Churchill scored 14 points in the 2nd and 3rd quarters while the Panthers tallied 32 points. The Panthers were led by junior Finn S. with 17 points. Senior Kwesi S. scored 14 points. Junior Jack B. led the team with 10 assists and 5 steals. Blue Pride!!

The BFS US Boys & Girls Squash Team participated in a Match versus Leman Prep at Eastern Athletic Health Club. Our whole team participated and played with some players having their first court time in match play. Everyone played their hardest to chase down shots and get a touch even if they did not win the point. We had one win, and many of our other matches were close. As always, our players demonstrated good sportsmanship and a true love of the game. We look forward to honing our skills and our upcoming matches. As always, BFS players were good sports and enjoyed themselves. Blue Pride!!

On Friday the BFS MS Girls Basketball Team defeated Leman Prep 21-14 in the lower gym. Blue Pride Runs Deep Friends Forever!! Way to go girls. Great Game. Coming off a tough loss the day before, the Panthers bounced back with the focus and fury of a seasoned basketball team. The Panthers have continued to improve this season, Friday night proved to be a showcase of their consistent efforts. Ava D. led the team in points, but everyone chipped in diving for loose balls, grabbing rebounds, and applying defensive pressure to the opposition. The Panthers look forward to continuing the season and getting better with each opportunity. Thanks to all the Fans who cheered on the team and showed their support. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Leman Prep 51-49 on the road. The team played an amazing game on the other side of the bridge. Lehman came out hot from the start with a 2-3 zone defense that our Panthers struggled to figure out. Too many turnovers and missed layups led to the Panthers being down 31-20 at the half. Refusing to go quietly the boys came out in the second half determined to make a game of it. Our defense turned up the intensity and they outscored Lehman 16-7 in the 3rd quarter to cut the deficit to two, 38-36. Lehman woke up back up in the 4th quarter getting back out to an eight point lead. Once again the Panthers defense forced some key turnovers, and with 26 seconds left in the game down two points Jackson B. drove to the hoop to get the basket and pick up an “And 1” to give BFS its first lead of the game (Exciting Stuff). The defense held strong and Jackson added one more free throw to give the Panthers a two point lead and the victory. Jackson led the team with 17 points, teammate Sean K. had 12 points and Iden O. and Khari M. both chipped in scoring 8 points each. The Panthers improve to 5-1, 2-0 in league play, and they are riding a five game win streak heading in to the weekend. Blue Pride!!

It is the final matchup between both teams in the regular season. BFS won this one wire to wire. The Panthers started the game with a 25-3 first quarter and never looked back. Kwesi S. led the way with 18 points and 9 rebounds, Finn S. scored 12 points and had 5 blocks. Jack B. scored 10 points and dished out 10 assists. Oliver S-P scored 10 points and picked up 6 steals, while Aja M. scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. The Panthers are now 11-3 overall and continue their winning ways in 2019. Blue Pride!!

On Monday the BFS Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated Garden 39-37 on the road. The Panthers picked up their first win of the season. BFS found itself down early, but fought back to gain a slight lead at the end of one quarter of play. BFS held onto the lead until the third quarter when Garden fought back. Libby S. Sasha R. Cyrah J., and Lizzy G. were determined to pull this one out. They held their ground defensively and made just enough plays on offensive to secure the victory. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Garden 86-25 in the lower gym. The Panthers looked to regroup after Saturday's non league loss to Staten Island Academy on the island. BFS was happy to be back in Brooklyn and on their home court. The Panthers had a strong performance as they led wire to wire. Leading the way for BFS was junior Finn S. with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 3 steals. Also supporting Finn was his teammate junior Ty S. who had 15 points and 3 assists. The seniors also left their imprint on this game as Jailen L. scored 11 points, Kwesi C-S 10 points, and Jacob H. finished with 6 points and 9 boards. Next up for the Panthers is important league game to close out 2018 versus Mary McDowell at Basketball City on Wednesday.

On Tuesday the BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Dwight 46-33 in the lower gym. It was a nice non-league victory. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Saint Ann's 58-36 on the road. Led by their phenomenal guard play, the team earned their second win this season. Khari M. and Jackson B.y controlled the floor and led the scoring effort for the Panthers while numerous other team members contributed to the victory. The entire team played hard at both ends of the floor and won the battle of the boards. The Panthers are looking to carry this momentum into their home opener today Wednesday 12/19 against Berkeley Carroll. Blue Pride!!

On Wednesday the BFS Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated Mary McDowell 50-38 at Basketball City. Two in a row for the team. BFS got out to an early lead with passes into the low post, anchored by sophomore Vickie L.'s scoring. The team battled on both ends. Some timely jumpers from Franka M-T, and Sasha R. kept the defense honest. Junior Libby S. was in foul trouble throughout but the guard play Nicole A. and Cyrah J. persevered the lead. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Saint Ann's 61-31 on the road a few blocks away. It was another nice non-league victory for the Panthers. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Berkeley Carroll 53-32 in the lower gym. The Panthers got off to a quick start opening up an early twelve point lead halfway through the first quarter. However, the offense hit a wall in the second quarter and Berkeley Carroll was able to close the gap to only three points going in to the half. The second half opened with both teams going back and forth for awhile. BFS found themselves down three points with two minutes left in the third quarter before the offense woke back up. Led by Sean K., Iden O., and a hungry defense, the boys were able to finish the game strong and cruise to their third win in a row. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

On Monday the BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Grace Church 63-51 in the lower gym. The Panthers improved their record to 5-0. BFS took an early lead, forcing turnover after turnover, and never looked back. Led by sophomores Judah B. who finished with 14 points and Henry L. with 12 points. Freshman Wyatt S. also contributed by grabbing 9 boards. The Team is gearing up fro Friday's match up against league rival LREI on the road. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

On Thursday the BFS US Boys & Girls Squash Team participated in a Match versus Birch Wathen Lenox at Eastern Athletic Health Club. The Match kicked off our teams US season. Our players were focused. All of our players worked hard to have consistent serves and long rallies. There was a strong show of support and team spirit. We are proud of them and they had a great time. Way to go team. On Friday the BFS MS Boys Basketball Team defeated Friends Seminary 53-37 on the road. It was the teams first win of the season and it came against their fellow Quakers. The came out hustling right from the tip to build a comfortable lead going into the half. Friends Seminary put up a good fight as they closed the score to be down only eight in the fourth quarter. BFS' Defense came up with some big stops and turnovers down the stretch that they were able to convert into easy buckets as the Panthers took the victory over the Owls.

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated LREI 89-65 on the road. The Panthers traveled to lower Manhattan to face off versus league opponent LREI, who was currently 2nd in the ISAL standings with a 3-1 record. BFS played exceptionally well and picked up the league victory and remain in 1st place in the ISAL. Finn S. led the way with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. Oliver S-P came in off the bench and scored 15 points and picked up 3 steals. Jack B. scored 8 points, had 5 rebounds, and dished out 5 assists. The Panthers starting senior trio played well led by Kwesi S. with 11 points and 10 rebounds, Jailen L. with 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, and Kobe C. added in 9 points. Way to go team. On Monday the BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Birch Wathen Lenox 76-45 in the lower gym. The Panthers hosted league rival BWL and came away with a wire to wire victory. The Panthers led throughout this game powered by their strong team defense and relentless efforts on both ends of the court. The team was led by senior Kwesi C-S. with 17 points and juniors Finn S. with 16 points and Ty S. with 10 points. Other strong performance came from senior Oliver S-P with 8 points. The Panthers improved to 5-0 in the season and will travel to Queens to visit Garden School, who is currently 2-2 in ISAL league play. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Birch Wathen Lenox 55-52 on the road. The team picked up an exciting league victory. The game started very slow with three of the starters getting into early foul trouble. BWL held the lead for most of the game until the 3rd Quarter when BFS made a strong push to take the lead at the end of the 3rd Quarter. While playing great defense and team basketball, the Panthers were able to pull out the exciting victory. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

On Tuesday the BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Friends Seminary 61-53 in Overtime in the lower gym. In the second game of a back to back the Panthers picked up an exciting non-league victory as they came from behind against a tough opponent. This match up is usually a good one, with our fellow Quakers taking the last couple victories, so we expected nothing less than a good game. The game started slow for BFS, Friends Seminary took a 10-5 lead. The game was close throughout. But late in the second half BFS found itself down 37-22. The team battled its way back. On Wednesday the BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Garden 80-57 on the road. The Panthers traveled to Queens to face the much improved Garden School. With a late second half surge, the Panthers pulled away and came away with another victory. The team remained undefeated. The team was led by the combination of senior Kwesi C-S and junior Finn S. scoring 20 points apiece. Kwesi scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half, while adding 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals for the game. Finn grabbed 9 boards. Fellow junior Ty S. scored 16 points off the bench. Senior Jailen L. scored 9 points, dished out 5 assists, grabbed 4 rebounds, picked up 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Fellow senior Kobe C. scored 4 points, and chipped in with 6 rebounds, 6 steals, and 2 assists. The Panthers are 6-0 and will next face off versus Friends Central School from Pennsylvania this Saturday 1:00pm at St. Francis College. Looking forward to a great game with our fellow Quakers. On Thursday the BFS MS Boys & Girls Squash Team participated in a Match versus BASIS School at Eastern Athletic Health Club. The Match kicked off our teams MS season. Our players, Sam E., Julian P., and Matthew R., played multiple games against the other team. They were focused, served well, and had long rallies. We are proud to share that they won the majority of their games and had a great time. Way to go team. Looking forward to the rest of the season. Blue Pride!!

On Saturday the BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team suffered their first lost of the season 54-49 to fellow Quakers Friends Central who made the trip up from Pennsylvania. The Panthers came into the game with an impressive 6-0 record. The game took place at St. Francis College, The Small College of Big Dreams. The packed house saw a very competitive game between the two prestigious Quaker School. Leading the way was senior Kwesi C-S who finished with 18 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Supporting him was junior Jack B. with 12 points (including 3 threes), 2 steals and 2 assists. Fellow junior Finn S. scored 12 points, with 10 points coming in the 2nd half. And Junior Aja M. came off the bench and chipped in with 4 points. The Panthers lost a tough non-league game against a very strong opponent. The city of brotherly love came out on top in this one. The team (BFS) will regroup and get ready for another non-league match up this time versus an ACIS School, Grace Church, at home on Monday. Saturday BFS did a wonderful job representing Blue Pride and competing throughout and until the very end. Thanks to everyone who showed up to support the program and cheer on the team. On Tuesday the BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated Bay Ridge Prep 59-30 in the lower gym. It was the first BFS Home Basketball Game of the season. The Panthers played well throughout. Way to go team. Wishing Bay Ridge Prep all the best with their upcoming season. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated Bay Ridge Prep 101-41on the road. The team improved to 2-0 on the young season. The Panthers started their first game of three this week. The team was led by seniors Kwesi C-S. with 18 points and Jailen L. 13 points and Harrison K. 11 points. Juniors Jack B. and Finn S. chipped in with 10 points each. For BFS 12 out of 13 players scored and eight players scored 7 points or more in a well balanced offensive attack. The panthers led wire to wire. The first quarter was 22-11 and thenBFS led 47-19 at halftime. Wishing Bay Ridge Prep all the best with their upcoming season.

On Thursday the BFS Boys JV Basketball Team defeated York Prep 73-58 on the road. This was the first league game of the season. BFS was led by its freshman squad, Alex B. had 22 points, 9 assists, 5 rebounds, while and Xavier G. had 10 points and 2 steals. BFS jumped out to an early 20 point lead, but slacked off and let York prep back in the game in the 4th Quarter. Only leading by 8 points at the beginning of the final quarter freshman guard Luc A. checked in and took charge and helped to push the lead back up to 15. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated York Prep 54-38 on the road. The team improved its overall record to 3-0. This was their first league game of the season and left the city with another victory. After a slow start, trailing 12-4, the Panther's defensive pressure took over en route to a impressive victory. Junior Finn S. and senior Kwesi C-S. scored 12 points a piece. Fellow senior Jailen L. dropped in 10 points. Other contributors were senior Oliver S. with 7 points and junior Ty S. chipped in with 6 points. The Panthers will host French American School of NY tomorrow in another competitive league game. On Monday the BFS Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated UNIS 70-44 on the road. The Panthers opened up their season with an impressive victory. The team was led by senior Oliver S-P with 14 points, (4 three pointers) and junior Jack B. with 11 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Both players played solid off the bench. Senior Jailen L. affected all parts of the game, scoring 9 points, dishing out 7 assists, grabbing 8 rebounds, picking up 4 steals, and 2 blocks. Along side Jailen doing similar things on the court was fellow senior Kobe C. with 4 points, 7 assists, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block. The Panthers led wire to wire, including a 42-16 halftime lead. The next game will be against Bay Ridge Prep on Tuesday. Blue Pride!!

10/29/18

On Monday the BFS MS Boys Soccer Team tied Saint Ann's 3-3 at Red Hook to close out the season. The team ended its season in thrilling fashion, coming back from down 3 - 1 against Saint Ann's to tie the game up at 3 - 3, and nearly winning the game right before the final whistle blew. The boys started the game with blistering speed and opened the scoring in only the 2nd minute of the game. After a great switch of play from the left flank to the right, Anele T. slid a perfect through ball to Eli G. to run on to, before beating the opposition's left back and striking the ball over the Saint Ann's goalie and into the roof of the net. The team lowered their intensity after such an early goal and Saint Ann's leveled the score at 1 - 1 from a corner kick in the 11th minute. Seven minutes later, Saint Ann's double their lead from another corner kick. In the 27th minute, the team gave up another goal to go down 1 - 3. BFS started the second half as a rejuvenated team and put pressure on their opponents backline throughout the half. The boys' hard work and perseverance paid off in the 56th minute when Ilan S. dribbled past a few defenders before placing a pinpoint cross on the foot of Anele T. who powered his shot into the corner to make it 2 - 3. In the 59th, minute Anele T. got his second of the game when he was played in behind the Saint Ann's back four by a splitting through ball from Breyton N. and buried his shot past the opposition's goalie. Not giving up until the final whistle, BFS pushed for a winning goal and nearly got it right before the games end but unfortunately, the St. Ann's keeper made a goal-line stop. Special praise should go out to our goalie Will M. who made an incredible one-handed reaction save right after we tied the game at 3 - 3, although all of the boys deserve a shoutout for not putting their heads down when we trailed 1 - 3 and working hard for one another to get something out of the game. On Tuesday the BFS Girls Varsity Volleyball Team participated in the NYSAIS State Tournament versus Marymount at the Brearley Field House at 5:00pm. On Wednesday the BFS MS Girls Volleyball Team defeated Berkeley Carroll 2-0 (25-8, 25-18) on the road. The players showed great consistency and strong teamwork in the first set and needed just one full rotation to close down their opponent. Raia R. made six consecutive service winners and Nico S. made eight. The team lost their focus in the second set and had five service errors in their first six attempts. Juna W. turned the tide, making four consecutive service winners. 7th graders Simone H., Frankie S-H, Raveena H., and Mina O. all made important passes in the match, helping the team win in straight sets. The BFS US Cross Country Team participated in the ISAL Championship Meet at Van Cortlandt Park. Sophomore James F. placed 17th with a time of 21.17 out of a field of 48 total runners. James narrowly missed his best time of the season (21.02 the week before). He improved his personal best by 2.13 from the first meet which is incredibly hard to do. His hard work, grit, perseverance, dedication, and focus on improving paid off in the final meet of the season. Coach was extremely proud of the work James put into this season and looks forward to coaching him next season. Way to go James. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Girls Varsity Soccer Team defeated FASNY 7-0 at Randalls Island. The game was even for the first twenty minutes. Both teams where playing really well and creating opportunities on both sides. BFS' goalie made a couple of good interventions to stop our opponent from scoring. As the game progressed the BFS midfielders found their rhythm and the space to go up on the board. After the first goal the girls became more confident and started playing their game. And the team did not stopping scoring multiple goals on their way to victory. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

On Wednesday the BFS MS Girls Volleyball Team defeated Staten Island Academy 2-1 (25-15, 21-25, 15-5) in the upper gym. It was an exciting three set match. The team remained undefeated and now boasts a wonderful 10-0 record. All team members contributed to the tenth victory of our season. Nico S. and Nadia A. showed outstanding defensive skills, pursuing every ball on our side of the court and making several amazing passes. Way to go team. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Soccer Team defeated Staten Island Academy 8-2 at Bush Terminal Park. The players started the game with a very high intensity and their hard work paid off when they won a corner in the 3rd minute. Max M. delivered a perfect curling cross that landed at the feet of Anele T., allowing him to fire his shot past the goalie. In the 11th minute, lightning struck twice as Max again delivered a pinpoint cross for Anele to finish and put BFS up 2 goals. After going up 2 - 0, the team took their foot off the pedal and quickly we're punished when SIA scored in the 13th minute. The goal rejuvenized the players though and they regained control of the game. In the 23rd minute, Julien P. played a great through ball for Eli G. to run onto down the right flank, before cutting back onto his left foot and placing the ball in the far top corner of the net. One minute later, Anele won the ball in the middle of the field and went on a solo run, beating a few SIA defenders before unleashing an unstoppable shot to make it 4 - 1. In the 27th minute Eli played in a great cross from the right side that Max backheeled to Theo S. who scored his first goal of the season to make it 5- 1 going into halftime. The team started the second half slowly and again SIA pounced, scoring in the 32nd minute to make it 5 - 2. In the 41st minute, the team scored arguably it's best and most beautiful team goal of the year. Anele, playing in goal, punted the ball to half field where Will M. one-time flicked the ball from out of the air right into the path of Max who made a great cross-field run before shooting the ball right into the far-post side netting. In the 43rd minute, Eli got his second goal of the game when he finished from close range after another Max cross from the left flank making it 7 - 2. In the 55th minute, Elijah S., who has been a rock for the team in defense all year, scored his first goal of the season after Will played a perfectly weighted through ball to make it 8 - 2. The BFS MS Cross Country Team participated in a Meet at Cadman Plaza. Two of our MS runners Thomas L. and Parker L. took place in a one mile "Fun Run" hosted by Packer Collegiate Institute yesterday. They used the opportunity to run the race as a training run in preparation for today's ISAL Championship Meet at Van Cortlandt Park. They had fun and adhered to Coaches advice on how to approach and run this race. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Girls Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Birch Wathen Lenox 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-23) in the upper gym. The team finished the ISAL regular season in great fashion capturing the regular season title against a very strong opponent, ISAL League Champions!! BWL put up a good fight, but BFS stayed focused and remained consistent throughout the match to prevail. At this point in the season, and as we head to the playoffs, everyone understands their role on the team and knows what it takes to be successful. Way to tea. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS/US Cross Country Team participated in a Meet at Van Cortlandt Park. BFS had an outstanding MS Championship Meet yesterday. 8th grader Fox K. had an amazing race and all his hard work over the season paid off as he took 1st Place receiving an awesome medal for his efforts. He was trailing another strong runner going into the woods and Coach wasn't sure if he was going to catch him. Fox stayed true to his game plan and gave it everything he had on the hill during the race. He came out of the woods with a narrow margin and turned up the heat on the final stretch coming in first place with a time of 10.15 for the 1K race in a field of 12 total runners. Thomas L. who raced a one mile fun run the day before finished in 8th Place with a time of 12.26. He was followed by Holden C. who came in 10th Place with a time of 13.30. Rounding out the team was Parker L. who also ran a 1 mile fun run the day before placing in 11th Place with a time 13.42. Julian S. made the trip, but unfortunately is recovering from a cold and was told by his doctor to rest up. In the Upper School 5K race sophomore James F. placed 13th overall in a field of 42 runners with a time of 21.02. His mother was there to see in compete and he had an amazing 1.10 improvement over last week's race. Fox K. dad was also at the race to see his son take 1st Place. Great day at the course. On Wednesday the BFS MS Girls Volleyball Team defeated Churchill 2-0 (26-24, 25-5) on the road. The team came out a bit rusty after the long weekend. After multiple serving and passing errors BFS found themselves down 18-23 in the first set. The team rallied behind a focused and determined five point serving streak by Juna W. and tied up the set at 23 points all. BFS won the side out and served out the set to come from behind and win the first set 26-24. In the second set BFS started strong and remained strong throughout. Buoyed by excellent team defense and the spectacular serving (13 straight points) of Lili B. The final score in the second set was a definitive 25 – 5. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Girls Volleyball Volleyball Team defeated Churchill 3-0 (25-9, 25-19, 25-19) on the road. After a long weekend the team showed a little rust in defeating their opponent. It was a good way to get back on the court against a team that pushed BFS to play hard. Another great learning and playing experience, as BFS head towards the end of the regular season. The BFS MS Boys Soccer Team defeated Churchill 5-0 at Calvert Vaux. The team won despite playing the entire game with only nine players. The team worked very hard for one another throughout the first half, closing the opponents’ space, and went into halftime confident and tied 0 - 0. BFS came out in the second half even stronger and counter attacked Churchill brilliantly. In the 33rd minute, Anele T. won the ball on the top of the Churchill box and dribbled past a few defenders before unleashing a shot into the back of the net to break the deadlock. In the 40th minute, Anele turned provider when he played a great through ball to Ilan S. who juked one defender at midfield before bursting behind Churchill’s back four and slotting the ball into the corner to make it 2 - 0. Two minutes later, Max M. made a great run down the left flank before crossing the ball into Churchill’s box for Eli G. to finish the opportunity and make it 3 - 0. Eli beat his defender on the right flank and served in another pinpoint cross to the foot of Anele T who buried his shot to make it 4 - 0 in the 44th minute. Max finished the scoring in the 47th minute when he did a give and go with Eli before beating his defender and curving the ball perfectly into the far post side netting giving the Churchill goalie no chance. The second half was possibly the teams best half of the season and all the boys played incredibly hard and smart. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

On Friday the BFS MS Girls Volleyball Team defeated Rudolph Steiner 2-0 (25-5, 25-8) in the upper gym. The team had a rock solid victory to close out the week. All players contributed to the victory, as the team showed excellent focus and determination. Consistent serving was the main key to this win. “Defend the Serve!” has become a new cheer for our team, as they are improving their ability to work together and play strong defense when our opponent is able to return our serve. Aces were served up by Chelsea P., Clair P., Dalilah L., and Nicole A. In addition to the strong serving the girls executed strong offensive and defensive play. Blue Pride at its best. The BFS MS Boys Soccer Team defeated York prep 4-1 on Randalls Island. BFS dominated possession from the start and created some quality chances early on. The teams persistence paid off in the 13th minute when Eli G. made a great run down the left flank and placed a cross right on the foot of Breyton N., who slid the ball around the York Prep goalie into the open net. The team took their foot off the gas after scoring and York Prep created a few good chances, but our veteran goalie Will M. kept them out. In the 28th minute, Breyton got his second goal of the game, the assist again provided by Eli, when he collected the ball on the top of the 18-yard box and buried the shot. In the 34th minute, Anele T. stripped a York Prep player of the ball in the midfield before beating a few players and curling the ball into the bottom corner of the goal making it 3 - 0. York Prep pulled one back in the 50th minute to make it 3-1. In the 56th minute, Eli was first to a 50/50 ball before breaking away from the defenders and dispatching his shot to make it 4 -1. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The team came out of the gates flying and pinned BWL deep in their defensive half before winning an indirect free kick twenty-five yards from goal. Lucian A. rolled the ball to the side and Ilan S. struck a rocket into the bottom left corner of the goal making it 1 - 0 BFS. Five minutes later, Eli G. bursted past his defender on the right flank and crossed a perfect ball to Ilan, who made the smart and unselfish pass to Anele T., who dispatched of his shot past the goalie from six yards our. After going up 2 - 0, the players lost the some of the intensity they had at the start of the game. Luckily they picked it back up at the end of the first half and scored two goals in the last four minutes. In a great passing movement, Anele received the ball on the top of the eighteen yard box and smartly flicked the ball over his defenders head. Max M. read the pass and lobbed the ball over the onrushing goalie with a one time shot in the 26th minute. In the 30th minute, Zachary R. played a great through ball down the left flank for Sam K. to run on to before unleashing a fierce left footed shot into the opposite corner making it 4 - 0. The team started the second half lethargically and gave up a goal in the 36th minute to make it 4 - 1. However, they finished the game in style as Elijah S. put a pinpoint cross into the box from a corner kick and Will M. buried the ball into the back of the net with the last kick of the game to make it 5 - 1. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS/US Cross Country Team participated in an ISAL Meet at Van Cortlandt Park. The team had the best meet of the season so far. In the Middle School 1.5K race Fox K. took 1st Place out of 18 total runners finishing with an impressive time of 10.57. Thomas L. came in 5th place with a time of 12.51. Julian S. followed him in 6th Place with a time of 13.16. Rounding out the team was Parker L. finishing in 8th place with a time of 13.57. In the Upper School race James F. showed a lot of grit narrowly beating a runner at the line for a 13th place finish out of 41 total runners with a time of 22.13 for the 5K race. Our boys continue to show improvement over the course of the season and this meet really showed it. The Coach is extremely proud of our team and its progress. Blue Pride!!

On Monday the BFS Girls Varsity Soccer Team defeated Dwight 3-2 at Randalls Island. It was a nice league victory. Freshman Nina G. had a hat trick. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Boys Varsity Soccer Team defeated Bay Ridge Prep 9-1 at Calvert Vaux. The team continued its winning ways. Gabe D. picked up 5 goals tying a school record. Jordan B. added a hat trick. And Walker T. had a goal for BFS. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Boys Soccer Team defeated Dwight 5-0 at Randalls Island. The team improved its record to 2 - 1. Despite only having eleven players for the game, meaning no subs, every player worked tirelessly for one another all game. Despite dominating possession and moving the ball better than they had in our previous two games, our finishing was lacking until the last minute of the first half. Eli G. received the ball on the top of the box and slipped a through ball for Anele T. to dispatch in the 30th minute. The goal galvanized the team, and Anele doubled his goal tally for the game in the 34th minute when he blew past a number of defenders to emphatically strike the ball into the back of the net unassisted. In the 41st minute, Anele turned provider when he crossed the ball to Will M., who rifled a shot past the Dwight goalie. The goal was Will first in MS soccer, as he has predominantly played goalie this year and last season. In the 48th minute, Breyton N. got his first goal of the season as well, after a great through ball from Lucian A. In the 51st minute, Eli wrapped up the scoring by bursting through the defense during a lightning-fast counterattack and slotting the ball calmly into the corner. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Girls Volleyball Team defeated Dwight 2-1 (25-20, 23-25, 15-12) at the Dwight School Athletic Center. The Panthers faced a tough opponent at a tough gym. All players worked hard to adjust both their serving and passing techniques to the gymnasium - an admirable accomplishment for Middle Schoolers! Their teamwork improved with each game of the match! The BFS Girls JV Volleyball Team defeated Dwight 2-1 (22-25, 25-12, 25-18) at the Dwight School Athletic Center. The is on a roll. The team came from behind again. BFS saw outstanding offense from Loane B., Lilly B., and Brianna G. BFS had strong defense play from Garance S-M, Danielle G., and Ava P. Great setting from Delila L. On Wednesday the BFS MS Girls Volleyball Team defeated Leman Prep 2-0 (25-8, 25-21) in the upper gym. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Girls Varsity Volleyball defeated Leman Prep 3-2 (25-22, 19-25, 25-16, 24-26, 17-15) on the road. It was an exciting match across the river. BFS prevailed. This game was a big test of perseverance and teamwork. Leman Prep provided a great challenge, pushing BFS to dig deep in order to succeed. It was a rollercoaster of a game, where both teams played very intense while exchanging sets. At the end of the day BFS kept their service in, and defended their side of the court with great pride. On Thursday the BFS MS/US Cross Country Team participated in an ISAL Meet at Van Cortlandt Park. It was another nice day at the park. This was the teams second meet of the season. The MS race was 1.5K. There were 212 runners involved today. Julian S. placed 79th with a time of 12:25.3, Parker L. placed 171st overall with a time of 14:56.7, and finishing in 172nd place with a time of 14:57.2. was Thomas L. Way to go MS runners. The US team was represented by our leader and veteran racer sophomore James F. who towed the line with 40 boys in a 5K (3.2) mile race. He placed 13th overall with an unofficial time of 22.53. Way to go James. The team looks forward to the next one. Blue Pride!!

On Friday the BFS Girls Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Packer 3-2 (17-25, 25-22, 25-15, 24-26,15-12) in the upper gym. What a thrilling match on a Friday afternoon. The team represented BFS with great pride today, defeating their local rivals in one of the most intense matches of the season. In front of a wonderful packed crowd, BFS showed great perseverance, effort, determination, and heart. The players continue improving their individual skills as well as their ability to work together as a team in accomplishing their goals. Blue Pride Runs Deep, Friends Forever!!

On Monday the BFS MS Girls Volleyball Team defeated Friends Seminary 2-0 (25-16, 25-10) on the road to kick off the middle school season. The team had a strong start to its season defeated Quaker rival Friends Seminary. All team members contributed to this victory, as they demonstrated solid serving and passing skills. 8th grader Nadia A. served five straight service points in the first game and eleven straight in the second game. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

9/21/18

On Thursday the BFS MS Boys Soccer Team defeated Brooklyn Heights Montessori 6-2 at Red Hook. Great way to kick off the season. The team started the game with a very fast pace and opened the up the scoring in the 6th minute through a Max M. strike that was assisted by Theo S. The team got a little too confident after the first goal and gave up an equalizer two minutes later to make it 1-1. Despite the setback, they picked back up where they started and in the 16th minute, scored a beautiful team goal that culminated with Itai K. sliding a perfect through ball to Anele T. who fired a shot past the opposing goalie. Anele T. scored the next two goals, one on either side of halftime, to make it 4-1 BFS. The first was a fantastic solo run and shot, and the second was the result of another great team passing move in which Itai K. again supplied the final pass. Itai K. got on the scoresheet himself in the 41st minute thanks to a heads-up play in which he intercepted the ball from the opposing teams goal-kick and slotted the ball past the keeper. Brooklyn Heights Montessori School pulled one back in the 43rd minute before Max M. scored his second of the game to solidify the win. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS/US Cross Country Team participated in an ISAL Meet at Van Cortlandt Park. It was a nice day to start the season. The MS race was 1.5K and our team veteran Fox K. took 3rd overall with a time of 12.15 and finished 3rd out of a field of 13 total competitors. In his first race, Tomas L. placed 5th with a time of 12.35. Also in his first race Holden C. placed 10th overall in a time of 13.37 and close behind in 11th place with a time of 13.41 was Parker L. who finished his first race. Unfortunately, Julian S. sprained his ankle earlier in the week and was unable to compete, but he made the trip up to cheer on and support his teammates. Coach was very proud of this group who dug deep and giving it their all today. The US team was represented by our leader and veteran racer sophomore James F. who towed the line with 44 boys in a 5K (3.2) mile race. He placed 11th overall with an unofficial time of 23.30. Coach looks forward to see these runners improve and compete in the rest of the meets this season. Blue Pride!!

The BFS MS Girls Volleyball Team defeated LREI 2-0 (25-12, 25-17) in the upper gym. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

The BFS Girls JV Volleyball Team defeated LREI 2-1 (23-25, 25-6, 25-16) in the upper gym. The team had a successful run in their first home game. After dropping the first set 23-25 the girls rallied back in Blue Pride fashion taking the next two sets 25-6, 25-16 to win the league match. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

On Friday the BFS Girls Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Staten Island Academy 3-0 (25-4, 25-16, 25-9) on the road at Staten Island. Two in a row. The team played with great consistency and is starting to understand the system. Everyone is contributing to the teams early success and strong start. The team showed great serving and very clean transitions. BFS GVVB is really looking forward to representing our school with great pride at the Masters Invitational Tournament (Saturday 9/15/18). 5/8/18

On Monday the BFS Girls Varsity Softball Team Garden 14-2 and 14-9 in a doubleheader at Van Voorhies on a beautiful day. Way to go team!! In Game One BFS jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Sophomore Nicole A. was back on the hill and she did her thing pitching a gem. Nicole struck out 8 in 4 innings of work, including striking out the side in the second inning. She also made a couple plays fielding her position and tossing over to Amanda B. at first for the put outs. On the offensive side of things Nicole picked up a pair of hits and had a walk, scoring three times. Senior Amanda B. had three walks and scored three runs herself. Fellow seniors Fiona B., Isabel U., and Sophia A. each scored two runs apiece. Junior Alyssa W. had a game high 4 RBI's. Fiona, Isabel, and Sophia each had 2 RBI's. Fiona had a nice double in the 1st inning. Freshmen Mira B-S, Laila O., Sasha I., and Garance S-M also contributed towards the victory. Senior Margaret C. joined us after she finished her exam and sophomore Merry P. got in the game and had some action. Way to go team. Blue Pride!! In Game Two Senior Isabel U. took the mound for the second time of the season. She pitched two very solid innings only allowing one run. BFS got off to another solid offensive start with 5 runs in the first inning, followed by 3 runs in the second inning. Isabel helped herself with two early hits out of the lead off position. Amanda B., Fiona B., Alyssa W., Sasha I., and Garance S-M each had two hits. Fiona had the big hit with a two run homerun during the second inning. Mira B-S had a very nice RBI double in the 4th inning. Fiona led the way going 3 for 3 with a game high 5 RBI's, followed by Garance with 3 RBI's, and Mira with 2 RBI's. Sophia A. and Merry P. picked up their first hits of the season. Amanda B. got back on the hill for the second time this season. And Nicole A. came in closed things out during the final inning. Margaret C. played a solid shortstop. The defender of the game was definitely Mira B-S who played a very strong second base. In the bottom of the first inning her play to close out the inning drew much applause from the BFS Fans. She also closed out the second inning grabbing a line drive out of the air. The team has worked hard all season and brings their Blue Pride energy to each and every practice and game. The last game of the season is scheduled for Thursday. The BFS MS Boys Baseball Team defeated Friends Seminary 5-2 at Red Hook. BFS avenged an earlier season loss to their friendly rival. This game was highlighted by solid team defense in the field. The outfield showed hustle, which allowed singles to not turn into doubles, and the infield was solid while turning routine plays and more complex pick off moves. Birthday boy Ben W. gave up one earned run and struck out nine en route to the celebratory complete game victory. The offense was led by Charlie B. who had an RBI. Patience at the plate led to base runners and aggressive base running, and capitalizing on errors helped build the lead. Ethan S., Zach D., Elijah S., and Ben W. all scored runs for the Panthers. With two more games left in the season, this gritty bunch looks forward to ending on a high note. Blue Pride!!

On Tuesday the BFS Boys Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Masters School 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-19) in the upper gym. BFS played a well rounded match. It was the final home game of the season. Thanks to all the fans who attended the game to cheer on BFS. The team continued demonstrating its understanding of the rotation and the importance of staying focused and aggressive throughout the match. As the Panthers get ready for the playoffs, the team is starting to gain confidence even though they have had some setbacks due to injuries and illnesses. BFS hopes to have their full squad healthy and available for the upcoming playoffs. The Team will compete in the ACIS Playoffs on Friday versus Berkeley Carroll at BC at 4:15pm. Blue Pride!!

5/11/18

The BFS MS Boys Baseball Team defeated Browning 7-2 at Randalls Island. The team won their second straight game on a beautiful day out on Island. Charlie B. composed himself after a rocky start to strike out six and allow one earned run as he picked up the complete game victory. The offense was led by Ethan S. and his two RBI's. Charlie B. helped his cause with an RBI single. Zach D., Elijah S., Will M., Ben W, and Fox K. all crossed home plate. The team wraps up the season tomorrow against Berkeley Carroll. Blue Pride!!

5/12/18

On Friday the BFS Boys Varsity Volleyball Team lost to Berkeley Carroll 3-0 (10-25, 16-25, 19-25) in the ACIS Semifinals to close out the athletic school year. BFS put up a good effort, but Berkeley Carroll played an outstanding match from start to finish to secure the victory and advance in the playoffs. The Panthers never got fully going. Even though BFS made some progress from set to set, it wasn't enough against a very strong competitive opponent. The young BFS team had a very good learning experience this season, as we they as a team, and learned the various components of the game. We look forward to building up our team and keep representing BFS in the future.

Best of luck to Justin W., our only senior, as he moves up and onto college. And our juniors Oliver S-P, Jakob B., Sean W., Keith H., Otto B., and Tenzin C., our sophomore Aja M. and Mazai A-W, and our lone freshmen Nick M. as they continue to represent BFS next year. Special thanks to Coach Tiffany, who showed great support on the sidelines, and our wonderful team managers Lucy, Maxine, and Charlotte, who were always willing to help out during home and away matches....Blue Pride!!

Game Highlights for Week of April 30th, 2018

5/1/18

On Monday the BFS MS Boys Baseball Team defeated Saint Ann's 7-2 at Dyker Park in the shadows of the Verrazano Bridge. It was another cold and rainy spring day. BFS used another last inning comeback for the second straight game and split the season series with Saint Ann's. Ben W. pitched another gem, allowing one earned run and striking out nine en route to the victory. Down 2-1 in the top of the sixth, the Panthers sparked a six run rally to go up for good. Will M. and Baurice K. led the offense with 2 RBI's a piece, and Elijah S. and Zach D. added one RBI each. This team has had some slow starts, but continues to grind to the final out and have provided some exciting baseball this season. Blue Pride!!

On Tuesday the BFS MS Girls Softball Team defeated UNIS 7-4 at beautiful Bush Terminal field. It was the best day of the spring weather wise so far. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

On Monday the BFS MS Boys Baseball Team defeated UNIS 5-1 at Marine Park. The team picked up its first win of the season as all the run scoring came in the final inning. BFS got the bats cracking en route to the victory. Ben W. led the way from the mound, striking out seven while pitching a complete game one hitter. Way to go Ben. After threatening to score in the third inning, the scoreless tie was broken in the top of the fourth as the BFS offense exploded for five runs on five hits in the fourth inning. Ethan S. started the onslaught when an error led to a home run. Will M. added an RBI double to the mix, while Zach D. stole home with some aggressive base running. Charlie B. And Fox K. Also knocked in runs. Way to go team!! The team looks to keep it going on Friday as they hit the road against Staten Island Academy on the Island. Blue Pride!

The BFS Boys Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Saint Ann's 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-16) in the upper gym. The team was focused throughout the match, and overcame another very competitive opponent. BFS played very consistent from the first set, controlling the pace of the game, and securing the match in three straight sets. It was another great learning experience for our young and inexperienced squad. We are starting to understand what it takes to play volleyball consistently, from beginning to end...Blue Pride!!

On Friday the BFS Boys Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Staten Island Academy 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-16) in the upper gym. Thanks to all the fans who attended the game to cheer on BFS. The team did not disappoint the great home crowd. The boys volleyball team is starting to shape up as they head towards the last three games of the season. Everyone on the team is embracing their role, and as they continue to show improvement. BFS played one of its most consistent matches of the season, showing great communication and great movement as a unit. Blue Pride!!

Today the team showed great pride representing BFS in our first league game of the season, defeating a strong BC Team. 3-0. The BFS MS Girls Softball Team opened up their season and defeated their friendly rival Friends Seminary 4-3 in dramatic fashion with a walk off home run at Van Voorhies. Summer came early as BFS' own Summer G. lined a 2 run Home Run down the left field line that ended up going all the way to the wall. Oh what a feeling...WOW!! The BFS MS Boys Baseball Team played to a 5-5 tie against Avenues at Marine Park. It was the nicest day of the spring so far. Ben W. took the mound and pitched a solid game, striking out nine batters, and picking off two base runners. Zach D., Kai S., and Jones M-R led the offense with one RBI each. Down two runs in the last inning, the team rallied by using discipline at the plate to get timely walks and aggressive base running to put BFS in position to score the runs needed to end the game in a tie. Everyone played hard and competed to the last out. Way to go team. Blue Pride!!

On Thursday the BFS Boys Varsity Volleyball Team defeated York Prep 3-2 (26-24, 17-25, 19-25, 25-22, 15-13 on the road in the opening match of the season. Congrats to the Team picking up the exciting win in their first game of the season. The team has shown lots of grit and determination, to start the season with 3 scrimmage victories against Kew Forest, LFNY, UNIS, and a win against York Prep. It has been a fun and challenging roller coster ride so far, as the players get used to their new roles and responsibilities. Every game played has been a great learning experience for our young squad, preparing the team for our upcoming league games. As the season progresses, the athletes continue improving their understanding of the game. Blue Pride!!
