This Ofsted report evaluates the common features of PE in 25 primary schools and 25 secondary schools visited between November 2022 and June 2023. It identifies strengths and areas for development in how pupils are taught the subject. It builds on the physical education research review, which was published in 2022

PE and sport premium guidance for primary schools

Dfe guidance around how to use the sports premium to support all children and young people to live healthy active lives. Please note-The traditional direct Primary PE and Sport Premium is ending and being replaced by a centralised model, but schools will receive £150 million in transition funding for the 2026–27 academic year.

All About Autism E-LearningDeveloped by the Youth Sport Trust, and endorsed by the National Autistic Society, All About Autism is a digital and practical toolkit that builds upon knowledge of autism spectrum conditions (ASC) and some of the key considerations for making PE and sport inclusive to all.

Move Like MeWorking in partnership with a number of schools nationally, a group of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) have created a suite of online sport and physical activity videos to inspire other young people with SEND to be active.

School Swimming & Water SafetyAs part of the Inclusion 2028 programme, the Youth Sport Trust have been working with Swim England to create water safety training designed specifically for people working with pupils with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities.

The Engagement Model in Physical Education (PE)The Engagement Model is an assessment tool designed for pupils who are working below the standard of national curriculum assessments and are not yet engaged in subject-specific study (replacing P scales 1 to 4). It helps schools to better understand how these pupils learn by tracking their engagement with the curriculum.
