2022 Showcase Gala
3rd Annual Gala
By: Peter Grecco, BSCEF Executive Director
The third annual gala was held on April 22nd at the Brockwayville Depot. This year’s gala had much success with the support of the Brockway Schools and Community Education Foundation Board and the surrounding communities. Kurt Thomas was this year’s entertainment and was an unbelievably great entertainer.
This year the committee had 39 baskets for a Chinese raffle and 20 silent auction items. The Chinese auction brought in roughly $1,800.00 while the silent auction items did roughly $4,000.00. The event raised a total of over $29,000.00.
Events such as the gala afford the Foundation avenues to provide our students and community with various opportunities they would not have had otherwise. Some of those examples are as follows:
The foundation has funded $463,000 Advanced placement courses as well as $67,000 in Dual Enrollment courses over the past 10 years.
Our students have the opportunity to work with artists through the residency program through BCAT.
The Foundation helped secure a 3D printer and planer for the Vo-ag department
Created an "adopt a classroom" program where people can donate money to specific classrooms throughout the district was established through the Foundation.
While these are only a few examples, the continued growth of the Foundation will only provide more opportunities. But the growth can only be sustained through continuous community support and strong fundraising efforts. Events such as the gala are only one step towards the Foundation’s goals. With the Foundation’s vision, our relentless pursuit towards accomplishing our goals, and the community’s positive support, it will allow us to continue to offer our students once in a lifetime opportunities.
