CEREBELLUM
High level brain functions:
thinking
language
emotion and motivation
THREE PROCESSES:
Sensory - receive sensory impulses
Association - interpreting and helps to coordinate movements , initiate a response
Motor transmitting impulses to effectors
Brain stem
Respiratory and Cardiovascular control centres.
This part controls the consciousness, the heart rate and the breathing, things that we are doing all the time but we don’t notice it.
This area is used every time, because if not, the heart or the breathing will stop and we will die.
DIENCEPHALON:
Thalamus - perception of sensations (pain, temperature, pressure) and also encharge of trasmit information from the cerebellum to the cerebral cortex.
Hypothalamus - control of Autonomic Nervous System (ANS)
heart rate and blood pressure
Pituitary gland
body temperature, appetite, thirst, fluid and electrolyte balance
Pineal Gland, circadian rhythms.
The brain, lungs and heart, are the three main organs in the body, but, the brain is the central system which helps with performing all types of tasks in the body.
it is formed by 6 parts:
Frontal lobe
Parietal lobe
Occipital lobe
Temporal Lobe,
Brainstem
Cerebellum
This part of the brain is responsible for movement, problem solving, concentrating, thinking, behavior, personality, and the mood.
This area is used for nearly all activities, because with this part our brain sends the signal to move and nearly all the things we do are with movement.
Some examples of activities that needs this lobe are: playing basketball, doing boxing, playing video games or playing board games
This part is used to control the sensations, language, perception, body awareness and the attention.
This area is used to communicate with others and it’s also used the most of the time.
Some examples of activities that need this lobe are: studying, talking to someone, playing
basketball or playing video games.
This part is used to control the vision and the capacity of seeing, and the perception of where the things are.
This area is also used a lot of times, because you have to see to do correctly the activity that
you want to do.
Some examples of activities that need this lobe are: watching the television, cooking or going hiking.
This part is for when we are hearing music, when we are talking to someone and for the remembering of the information that we acquire.
This area is very commonly used, because if not, we won’t be able to understand the music and to remember any information.
Some examples of the activities that use this area are: to listen to music, to study and to talk to someone.
