If you have questions about any of the prerequisites or courses, reach out to the counselor.
The Accuplacer Test will be offered at BHS during a school day in February 2026. There may be a makeup test scheduled at a later date (late March/early April) depending on the number of students needing to take the exam. Dates will be announced in late Fall and a sign-up sheet will be sent out to all students and parents/guardians.
Any students wanting to take the Accuplacer Test at BHS must have:
Completed the ICC Application,
Received 2 emails BEFORE the test date:
"Welcome to ICC" email (will include ICC ID# & User ID), and
"Temporary Password" email
Completed the Google Form - Sign up sheet sent from Ms. Ross
You WILL NOT TEST if these 3 tasks are not completed by January 26th, 2026
If a student is unable to take the test at BHS for any reason:
The Accuplacer Test is also available to high school students* on the ICC Peoria North Campus all year long with an official photo ID (no exceptions).
*Students must be at least 16 years old and have completed the ICC Application. Students with an ICC ID# can register and schedule a time to take the test at ICC.edu.
Once the test is completed, a score will be given to the student before they leave the testing center. The score must meet prerequisites for the desired course and a copy of the qualifying score must be brought to the counselor to enroll in a dual credit course.

High school juniors in Illinois will be required to take the ACT Exam to graduate starting 2025. The ACT is expected to be the required standardized testing through 2031. The ACT will be administered at BHS by the Testing Coordinator, Ms. Ross, and other designated staff on a scheduled school day.

Starting your prep for the SAT or ACT early will ensure you have enough time to study without feeling rushed. Work backwards from when you plan on taking the tests to figure out when you should start studying.
For instance, if you plan to take the tests in the fall of your 11th grade, you may want to start studying by the end of 10th grade or in the summer after.
Make a study schedule that works for you and add it to your calendar. This will help you manage other schoolwork and extracurricular activities at the same time.
One of the best ways to prepare for the ACT or SAT is to take practice tests regularly. These will help you get used to types of questions that will come up.
You can also try taking some full-length practice tests in conditions similar to a real test. That means turning your phone off, using a timer, and finding a quiet space to work in. This will help you learn how to pace yourself during the real test.
