Elastic Painting
The purpose of Elastic Painting is to be a fun activity. My Elastic Painting is styrofoam with an image glued on and small pegs glued in. I thought back to when I was younger and used Geoboards. I wanted to create something similar, except my Elastic Painting includes an image to make from the start. It’s a painting you make using rubber bands, or as they’re also known as elastic bands.
My entry works just like a regular Geoboard. You take a rubber band and hook it on the pegs. The difference is you use different colors and sizes to create the illustration underneath instead of your own. The drawing I picked for my Elastic Painting is simple. It doesn’t have a lot of different colors or shapes. The more intricate the image, the more rubbers bands in different colors and sizes would be used.
I used rubber bands as my paint in Elastic Painting. The image (created by Soulis) on the styrofoam is a guide. The rubber bands are how you color. I use varying sizes and colors for my creation. The rubber bands can be arranged in any way to make the illustration.
I want Elastic Painting to be a way for people to have fun. They can relax by doing a simple activity. You do not need to think so much that it feels like a puzzle rather than a painting. It’s just something you can do for a few minutes to unwind after a long day or to pass time. I want people who do my Elastic Painting to feel joy and calm.
