The marching spartans

The Marching Spartans is the premiere extra-curricular performing ensemble at Broad Run. This award winning ensemble combines instrumental music with the visual effect of drill, formations, and pageantry. Our extra-curricular program is comprised of Winds (Brass & Woodwinds), Percussion (Battery & Front Ensemble), and Color Guard. The Marching Spartans hold spring practices during the previous school year for anyone interested in joining our group. Anyone is welcome to join, whether or not they have previous music experience! Registration for this group takes place in the preceding school year in order to have proper drill/choreography written and ready for August.

The Marching Spartans start their season before the school year, typically the first week of August. This is when the majority of the rehearsal time is and band camp days are eight hours in length. The students learn their show music, choreography and drill (how the band moves on the field). Once the school year starts, rehearsals are two hours a day, three days a week after school. The Marching Spartans perform at all home football games, as well as five Saturday competitions throughout the fall. The competitive season ends in early November. After the competitive season, the Marching Spartans support our football team by performing as a pep band at all home football games until the season concludes.

Let Mr. Blanks know
here if you are interested in joining this fun, inclusive, dedicated group of students! Dates for August band camps are typically announced in Mid-January, with the remainder of the schedule being released in the spring, which includes all practices and all tentative competition dates.
