In Our Classroom, We Work To:
Honor dignity
Attend regularly and promptly
Engage in the learning activities
Help one another
Listen when others are speaking
My general classroom expectation is that, at a minimum, students will treat one another, all students and staff, with dignity. Dignity is the inherent value and worth of each human being, simply because they exist. Honoring one another's inherent dignity means treating ourselves and others as if they matter and are worthy of care and attention.
Honoring dignity is also at the root of our BHS Knight Creed: Be kind; Have honor; Show pride.
School-wide expectations are outlined in the new Bremerton High School Student and Parent Handbook.
Students will work collaboratively to co-create classroom expectations and behavior agreements as we establish our classroom learning community in the first week of school. The resulting norms and agreements will be posted in the classroom and on this page.
PERSONAL ELECTRONICS: Phones, earbuds, headphones, tablets, and gaming devices (Switch, DS, etc.) must be kept in a bag, purse, or backpack, and should be set on silent to prevent interruption to learning. Students may NOT keep phones in their pockets. If students do not have a bag in which to store their phone, they may keep it in their school locker or store it in our classroom phone locker.
Details of the BHS Mind Over Mobile Phone Expectations can be viewed HERE.
CHROMEBOOKS: Each student is issued a Bremerton School District Chromebook upon enrollment. Students are responsible for having their Chromebook, fully charged, in class every day. Classwork will be a blend of both digital and physical texts and assignments - as such students must come prepared for a blended experience. Students using Chromebooks for playing video games, messaging other students, accessing social media, or viewing inappropriate websites or content will be required to work only with physical materials until a plan of action is determined by the teacher, administrators, and parents.
