Community service is the engagement of individuals or groups in an organized activity that contributes to the local, national or world community. It is also known as volunteering which is defined as the practice of people working on behalf of others or a particular cause, without payment, for their time and services. Potential community service projects include adopt-a-highway, canned food or clothing drive, or tutoring other students.

The Feeding Hearts event in Freeport is a meaningful community service project in which Brazoswood FFA members volunteer to help provide meals and support to individuals and families in need. This event, often organized by local charities and churches, focuses on serving warm meals, distributing essential supplies, and offering encouragement to those facing hardships.
Brazoswood FFA members contribute by preparing and serving food, organizing donations, setting up and cleaning up, and engaging with attendees to create a welcoming atmosphere. Their involvement aligns with the FFA’s mission of service, leadership, and giving back to the community, demonstrating compassion and responsibility outside the classroom.
Through Feeding Hearts, FFA members gain firsthand experience in addressing food insecurity while developing teamwork, empathy, and a deeper connection to their community. The Clute Spooktacular is a community service event in which Brazoswood FFA members volunteer to help create a fun and safe Halloween experience for local families. This event, typically organized by the City of Clute, features activities such as trunk-or-treat, haunted houses, games, and costume contests.
Brazoswood FFA members contribute by setting up and running activity booths, assisting with decorations, handing out candy, and ensuring that younger children have an enjoyable and safe experience. Through their participation, FFA members demonstrate leadership, teamwork, and service—core values of the organization. Additionally, this event strengthens community bonds and allows members to engage with the public in a positive way while representing Brazoswood FFA.

The BCFA Barnyard is an interactive, educational exhibit at the Brazoria County Fair that allows visitors to experience farm life up close. Featuring a variety of livestock, including goats, sheep, pigs, and poultry, the barnyard provides hands-on learning opportunities about animal care and agriculture. FFA and 4-H members help educate the public, answer questions, and promote agricultural awareness in a fun and engaging environment.

The Clute Christmas in the Park event is a festive community gathering where Brazoswood FFA members volunteer their time to help spread holiday cheer and support local families. This annual event, hosted by the City of Clute, features holiday-themed activities such as Christmas lights displays, photos with Santa, craft booths, food vendors, and live entertainment.
As a community service project, Brazoswood FFA members assist with setting up and running different attractions, helping children with holiday crafts, managing games, handing out treats, and ensuring the event runs smoothly. Their participation reflects the FFA’s commitment to leadership, service, and community engagement while giving members a chance to make a positive impact during the holiday season.

The HLSR Tour Guiding Competition allows FFA members to showcase their knowledge of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo while developing public speaking and leadership skills. Participants serve as tour guides, educating visitors about the rodeo’s history, livestock exhibits, and agriculture. They are judged on their knowledge, presentation, audience interaction, professionalism, and tour organization. This competition helps students gain confidence, improve communication skills, and engage with the public in a meaningful way.

The HLSR Program Sales is an opportunity for FFA and 4-H members to sell official Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo programs to attendees. This experience helps students develop communication, customer service, and marketing skills while supporting the rodeo’s outreach efforts. Participants interact with the public, promote the event, and gain valuable real-world experience in sales and professionalism.

The HLSR Loan-a-Llama program allows children to interact with and lead a llama under the guidance of FFA and 4-H members. Participants help educate the public about llamas, their care, and their role in agriculture while assisting children in handling the animals. This hands-on experience promotes confidence, responsibility, and agricultural awareness in a fun and engaging way.

Ranching & Wildlife H Calf is an educational program for Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo members dedicated to providing education, support and skills to aid in decision making related to beef cattle production for beef producers, weekend ranchers and anyone looking to learn something new.
