AVANCE NEO 800

The Bruker AVANCE NEO 800  is available to all NIH-funded researchers, especially those in New England.  The spectrometer is also open to industrial users when time is available.  The NEO 800 is housed in the Landsman Research Facility near the entrance to campus. Parking permits can be obtained at the information booth located in the circular entrance to campus. ( See PDF campus map below)   The new NEO console, BMPC-II, and CryoPlatform/5 were installed in July 2019 (purchased with funds from Brandeis University and HHMI, D. Kern, PI). The original Avance II console and 800 MHz magnet were installed in December 2005 (purchased under NIHRR High-End Instrumentation program, 1S10RR017269-01, T. C. Pochapsky, PI).

The spectrometer is equipped with a NEO console including four transceivers, 1-BLABB500 and 3-BLABBH2H500/100/150 broad band amplifiers, a 10 amp z-axis pulsed-field gradient amplifier, digital lock, BOSS-3 shims and VT unit. There is a new 5 mm TCI cryoprobe (1H,  {13C, 15N}) which includes cooled preamps for 1H, 13C, 15N and 2H.  The proton coil can be tuned to 19F for observation.  The probe has an expanded temperature range of -40 degrees C to 135 degrees C.  The system is also equipped with a SampleCase, allowing automatic insertion of 24 samples.  The spectrometer is ideally configured for multidimensional experiments on biological (protein, enzyme, RNA, DNA) samples, including 13C-detect experiments.

The spectrometer is controlled by a PC running under CentOS 7. The current version of the NMR software is Topspin 4.14.

There is a small wet-lab area in the facility for sample manipulation and a small refrigerator for sample storage.
