Project Search Background:
Project Search is an internationally recognized career exploration and job placement model for young adults with disabilities, designed to help them obtain competitive employment. Developed in 1996 at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Project Search has grown to over 250 sites across 40 states and four countries. Programs are hosted in healthcare, government or business settings where total immersion in the workplace facilitates the teaching and learning process.
Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and New England Baptist Hospital each host a cohort of students in partnership with Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries and Boston Public Schools.
Students rotate through internships in a variety of departments and the host business site. Embedded professionals provide specialized training for students including a Boston Public Schools Special Education teacher who helps with job readiness training and a Goodwill Job Site Specialist to direct job coaching, job placement, and program coordination services. There is no student or family cost to participate
