Lesson: Teacher will argue that the neighborhood is the site of change
Teacher will distribute NY Times article and watch clips of local policitians calling for change
Teacher will invite students to explore the website for ~20 minutes
Students will explain to a partner, and then to the class, what the scope of the project seems to be
Students will ask clarifying questions
Homework: Teacher introduce the first two tasks, both DUE FRIDAY. Students will make a plan for the next day
Objective: We will be able to tell the story of our neighborhood and the place we live
Lesson: Teacher will provide examples for how people describe the place they call home
Students will brainstorm possible ideas together
Students will complete an Entrance Survey
Students will brainstorm, compose, and edit. Teacher will provide one-on-one feedback
Students will complete an Exit Survey
Homework: Teacher reminds class that first two tasks are both DUE FRIDAY. Students will make a plan for the next day

Lesson: Teacher will demonstrate how to use the website to research
Students will spend ~50 minutes reading
Students will help teacher create lists of topics under each bucket on the board
Students will have time to decide on a topic
Students must complete the Google Survey by Friday
Homework: Teacher reminds class that first two tasks are both DUE FRIDAY. Students will make a plan for the next day

Lesson: Students must compose, edit, and submit 350 word description of their neighborhood
Students must complete the Google Survey
If time remains, teacher will show students how to create a Google Site
Homework: Students are invited to begin creating a Google Site using the provided template
