The BPS/BTU National Board Program is supported by three types of faculty members:

Our pool of "On-Call" NBCT Readers is available to support BPS teachers who are currently working on National Board Certification. In this role, readers will:
Agree to read up to two components for candidates in or near your certificate area
Complete Reader training
Utilize provided reading/ feedback protocol
Maintain an Activity Log
Follow the NBPTS Guidelines for Ethical Candidate Support
Solicit and respond to feedback on candidate experience to ensure a feedback loop that leads to continuous improvement
Once the Reader pool is created, candidates will be matched with a reader who will be able to provide up to two reads of component entry drafts. Guidance on how to do this is provided. Being in the pool of "On-Call" readers does not guarantee an actual match and reading.
Compensation is at the BTU hourly rate.
2 hrs for training
2 hrs for each C2 component read
3 hrs for each C3 & C4 component read
We hope to identify a large roster of NBCT "On-Call" Readers from a variety of certificate areas by January 31, 2025. If you are matched with a candidate, you will be notified and connected directly to that person and will support them between March and May.
Optional, with additional pay at BTU rate:
Attend the monthly NB Faculty Reflection meeting or M2C webinars (up to 6 hrs)
Support writing retreats: 3-hr sessions
Each Cohort Facilitator works with a group of at least 5 registered candidates who are completing one or more of any components of the National Board Certification process. They will support candidates to:
Understand portfolio Instructions and navigate the key docs and process
Establish accountability partnerships
Connect to resources [Not a reader]
Responsibilities include:
Approx 16 hrs: Plan and facilitate 12 hours of cohort meetings (virtual and/or in-person)
Draw upon the provided resources and suggested scope and sequence to ensure candidates understand the portfolio instructions and process
Follow and review with candidates the NBPTS Guidelines for Ethical Candidate Support
Approx 2 hrs: Maintain an Activity Log
Approx 6 hrs: Attend initial orientation and the monthly NB Faculty Reflection meeting
Approx 2 hrs: Solicit and respond to feedback on candidate experience to ensure a feedback loop that leads to continuous improvement
Compensation: $1,500 (based on minimum 5 candidates per cohort and an estimated commitment of 26 hours)

Explore NBPTS Homeroom and the NBPTS Facilitator Training Canvas Course or M2C webinars: up to 6 hours
Support writing retreats: 3-hr sessions

Training and candidate support begins in January
Educators in this grant-funded position will work in pairs to pilot a new course syllabus & curriculum for "Examining Teaching Practice & the Learning Environment," designed to guide candidates in improving the quality of their teaching while completing Component 3.
While participation will enable participants to complete one component of the NBC process, the course focus is on strengthening instruction through the process. To accomplish this, the course:
Includes “Instructional Structures,” such as: Peer feedback on lesson delivery, Feedback on component writing, Certificate area standards analysis, Self-assessments of standards implementation, Student work analysis practice, and Identification and analysis of instructional practice changes/ shifts.
Embeds Affinity Space practices (culturally and linguistically responsive practices) in cohort scope and sequence
Utilizes ATLAS as a tool
Course Leader responsibilities include:
9 hrs: Work in a pair with a co-facilitator facilitate six 90-min in-person sessions
3 hrs: Support one of the five 3-hour, in-person district-wide writing retreats
12 hrs: Co-planning in facilitation pair
Pilot the provided course syllabus & curriculum to guide candidates in improving the quality of their teaching while completing Component 3
Follow and review with candidates the NBPTS Guidelines for Ethical Candidate Support
Maintain an Activity Log, including tracking participant attendance
Solicit and respond to feedback on candidate experience; implement a feedback loop
12 hrs: Direct support to candidates
Communicate with candidates
Provide make-up sessions and/or office hours
8 hrs: Training: (2 paid hours of specialized training in January to review syllabus and annotated slide decks) + Monthly NB Program Reflection Meetings: 6 hrs. with all BOS Faculty
Compensation: $2500 stipend per co-facilitator (based on minimum 10 registered candidates per cohort and an estimated commitment of 44 hours)

Help DESIGN this course: one release day (in January) and up to 12 extra hours

Monthly NBPTS M2C Professional Learning Facilitator webinars: 1-hr sessions; second Tues or Th of each month
Support additional writing retreats: 3-hr sessions (dates TBD)
