Nelson Fellowship- Students interested in law and the U.s. justice system

Juniors (Sophomores and Seniors can also apply) Each year, 10-12 high school students in Boston and Worcester are selected as Nelson Fellows. Nelson Fellows are selected based on their leadership potential and desire to learn about the justice system. During the 6-week summer program, Nelson Fellows participate in classes and workshops on a wide range of topics, such as civil rights, public speaking, financial literacy, current events, writing, the anatomy of a trial, and principles of the American criminal justice system. The summer culminates in a mock trial, argued before a federal judge, where the Nelson Fellows act as attorneys or witnesses. Nelson Fellows also spend time in a judge’s chambers, tour local colleges, and meet with attorneys in various practice areas. Nelson Fellows have the opportunity to observe judges at work, including attending hearings and sentencings and participating in chambers discussions, and to discuss current social issues with various community leaders. Nelson Fellows receive an educational stipend, and travel to and from the Fellowship is paid for. A preference is given to juniors, though sophomores and seniors are welcome to apply.

Interested students should apply here before March 27th, 2023

The Bloomberg Arts Internship program is working to help young people develop the skills and give them the tools they need by providing students with work experience at select cultural institutions, as well as work-readiness and college-preparation training.
