AP English Language & Composition 12

Course Description

AP English Literature and Composition is a one year course which provides opportunities for students to refine their critical thinking, communication, and expressive skills. Students closely read, discuss, and analyze works written in several genres - novels, plays, poems, and short stories - from the middle ages to the present. Authors are chosen from the AP English Course Description for the English Literature and Composition Exam, as well as from those appearing on previous AP English Literature and Composition Exams, and represent authors from Britain, the Americas, and the world. All readings and assignments are at a level equivalent to those found at the freshman college level. At the conclusion of this class, all students will be prepared to sit for the AP English Literature and Composition Exam administered in May. The 12th grade critical theory paper is a requirement for this course.
