Tryouts for the Haughton Lady Bucs Volleyball Team will be Tuesday, May 14 from 3:15 - 5:00. Sign up with Coach Ginn in room A-216. The deadline to sign up is May 13.
Softball Tryouts will be held Thursday, May 16th from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please be sure you are properly equipped and to have a ride no later than 4:45 p.m.
Girls soccer tryouts will be held after school on Monday, May 13th. Any girl interested in trying out should contact Coach Stafford by email or in person in room A210.

Congratulations to the Big Red Buccaneer Band's Indoor Drumline for making 3rd place out of 9 groups in their category at the North Texas Indoor Drumline Championships this past Saturday. They were the only Louisiana team in the NTCA competition circuit. Way to go!

Congratulations to Kylie Anderson and Sebastian Guzman! They both placed at the State Literary Rally competition. Kylie earned 2nd place in Division I for IBCA and Sebastian earned 3rd place in Division I for Spanish II. Way to go!
Also, congratulations to Mrs. Cox and Senor Brown for an outstanding job preparing their students for the competition. Both students will be honored at a School Board meeting later in the semester.

The Highsteppers competed in Texas Nationals this weekend. The team scored platinum on all routines, received 1st place in kick, 2nd in lyrical, 3rd in both pom & hip hop & placed 4th in their division. The officers scored high platinum on their routines, received 1st place in pom, outstanding choreography on all routines & placed 5th in their division. The team also received the Academic Excellence Award for their gpa. Congrats to our Steppers!

HHS Marksmanship team competed in the 4H Northern Regional Air Rifle Championships in Grand Cane and earned 1st place. Individually, Layla Briggs earned 4th place, Leland Merritt 8th, Chris Fick 11th and Emily Wood 12th. As a result, the team has qualified for the State Championships in April. Way to go Bucs in Blue.

Congratulations the Archery Team for placing 2nd in the State Bullseye Tournament. Zoe Bayne placed 1st overall and was awarded Shooter of the Year. Drake Fontenot placed 2nd for HS boys. Hunter Walker placed 3rd in the IBO Challenge.

Acceptable IDs include a driver’s license or HHS school ID. IDs must be hard plastic card format only. Paper and Electronic formats are not accepted. The HHS Junior Optimist Club would like to thank everyone who donated to the Reach Out & Read Book Drive. With help from the middle school, our location was able to collect nearly 30 boxes of childrens' books to donate to Willis Knighton's pediatric clinics.

Our powerlifting team competed in north regionals over the last two weekends. Chance Howard came in 9th place in his weight class, Brooke Caporossi came in 6th place in hers, and Reagan Hodge finished in 8th place in her weight class. We also had two personal records set…Brooke hit 140 pounds on her bench press and Reagan deadlifted 215 pounds. Great job, Bucs!

JROTC attended Leesville High School Drill Meet this past Saturday at which time the marksmanship team, commanded by Layla Briggs placed 1st; the unarmed color guard team, commanded by Brooklynn Marshall placed 1st; and the unarmed inspection team, commanded by Josh Halterman placed 3rd. Shania Taylor placed 1st in the most pushups in the physical fitness competition. Sadie's tickets are now on sale! You can purchase them through the SchoolCashOnline found on the HHS homepage. Tickets will only be sold online. Cost is $15 and the price will increase to $25 on Monday. Deadline to purchase tickets is Wednesday, Feb. 28th.

The Haughton Marksmanship Team competed in the Air Force JROTC National Championships this weekend with great success. Haughton finished 12th overall and individually, Layla Briggs won an exciting finals match finishing 5th place overall. As a result, she is invited to the All Service JROTC Nationals in Ohio next month. Congrats to the whole Varsity team
Congratulations to the Archery team on their 2nd place finish in both the Bullseye and 3D tournaments from this weekend. Zoe Bayne placed 1st in Bullseye and 2nd in 3D. Alexys Brown placed 3rd in Bullseye and 4th in 3D.

This Week in Buccaneer Baseball:

Saturday, 10 Feb. Varsity scrimmage at West Monroe at 1:00PM - (pending a reschedule to avoid inclement weather)
JROTC attended Eddie Jones Orienteering meet this past Saturday at which time the following orienteers placed in accordance with gender and course and won neck medals: Xavier Wilson, Callie Roe, Sam Dowden, and Carson Dickerson. Congratulations Bucs in Blue.
The marksmanship team competed against 32 teams in the State Championships this weekend. The Varsity Team earned 2nd place overall and 1st in the Air Force División. The JV team earned 3rd place in the Air Force Division. Individually, out of 95 competitors Kate Lewis earned 3rd place and Wally Cassel earned 12 place. Way to go Bucs in Blue!
Congratulations to the 29 students who earned a 21 or higher on the ACT for the first time during the September, October, or December ACT. Those students will receive their tickets for ACT 21 Domination today from their first block teacher. Students can pick up their FREE t-shirt from Mrs. Stallcup during lunch shifts today in the Buc Den. If you are earned the distinction of ACT 21 Domination, don't forget to wear your shirt for club pictures on Tuesday. Picture time is 7:45 am.

Congratulations to the Boy's Soccer Team on their Undefeated District Title last night beating Caddo Magnet 5-1.
The Bucs and Lady Bucs basketball teams travel to Natchitoches Central today and will be back home Friday, Feb. 2nd against Southwood. Come out and support your Bucs and Lady Bucs!

Concession will resume next Monday
On Friday, our JROTC cadets were inspected by the Air Force in areas such as standards, operations, physical fitness, extra-curricular activities and community service. This once every 3-year evaluation reviewed a total of 54 specific areas and overall our cadets and instructors earned the highest rating possible: an exceeds standards. Congrat! Our Bucs in Blue cadets and instructors pass along a big thanks to all our school faculty and staff who supported JROTC's efforts Friday and throughout the year.
Boys Soccer is going for their first undefeated District Championship vs Caddo Magnet tonight starting at 7:45 at Preston Crownover Stadium.

Well Bucs, it is the last school day of The Great Kindness Challenge. I think I can speak for the entire RAK Club when I say how proud we are of EVERYONE! As we finish this week, our hope is that through participating, you noticed how many opportunities present themselves everyday to perform acts of kindness.
In case you haven’t already, please give yourselves a pat on the back...and then mark it off of your challenge checklist. Take the weekend to complete as many of the challenges as possible and turn your checklist in to your homeroom teacher on Monday. We will announce all the homeroom and student winners next week. Hopefully, you are beginning to notice the personal rewards and good feelings you receive when you do nice things for others. We want to remind everyone of the importance of being honest on your checklists, I don’t know if you have noticed, but a lot of the items on the checklist relate specifically to HHS. Today is the last day to pick up a checklist from A112 during lunch, if you still want to participate.

Parkway hosts Haughton girls in basketball battle of 1-5A leaders

This week starts The Great Kindness Challenge, a national week of kindness celebrated throughout schools and communities everywhere! If your first block teacher signed you up, you should receive a Kindness Challenge checklist this morning! Students and teachers should check off each item on the checklist you complete this week. Next Monday morning you can turn your checklists back into your homeroom teacher and your teacher will turn them into RAK Club. Students who complete 40 of the 50 items will have their names placed in a drawing for a prize...there will also be a drawing for teachers, and donuts for the homeroom with the highest percentage of participation. On each sheet, at the bottom right corner please write your name and the name of your homeroom teacher. If your first block did not sign up to receive the challenge checklist, you can go by Mrs. Chapman’s room (A112)during lunch and pick one up.

The Lady of the Locket Beauty Pageant will be held in the Airline High School Auditorium on Saturday evening. Doors open at 5:15 and tickets are $5 cash at the door. The pageant starts at 6pm. This event is sponsored by the HHS Yearbook and A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to the HHS hospitality fund.
Help spread the word - encourage kids to come out to the pageant.
JROTC attended the Carroll High School drill meet this past Saturday at which time the Master Color Guard Team, commanded by Ethan Perkins, placed 3rd; the Challenge Color Guard Team, commanded by Brooklynn Marshall, placed 1st; the Physical Training Team 1, commanded by Shania Taylor, placed 2nd; the Physical Training Team 2, commanded by Rachel McKinney, placed 3rd. For the individual competition, Shania Taylor placed 1st in the run, 2nd in sit-ups, and 2nd in push-ups. Rachel Mckinney placed 3rd in sit-ups. Congratulations Bucs in Blue.
Our female wrestlers competed in the Louisiana Classic tournament in Baton Rouge last weekend. Natalie Davis won the 126 lbs weight class and Mia Merlini got 2nd in the 144 lbs weight class. Congratulations Ladies!
