About Us
Bongorno Consulting is led by Chris Bongorno, a professional planner with more than 14 years of experience in the fields of transportation and community planning, mixed-use and institutional development, place management, and strategic planning. He launched Bongorno Consulting in 2013 to expand his work from Cleveland to other communities in Ohio and beyond.
Chris's past experience includes more than two years as a Senior Associate with national planning firm Nelson\Nygaard, where he served as planner and project manager on more than 20 projects that addressed mobility, accessibility, and sustainability in communities across the United States. Prior to Nelson\Nygaard, Chris was Planning Director for University Circle Inc. in Cleveland, Ohio, where he led successful efforts to plan and implement a series of community, transportation, and public realm enhancement projects.
Chris is a graduate of the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University, where he earned his Masters of Urban Planning, Design, and Development. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Urban Studies from the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning at the University of Cincinnati. He is one of the first Transportation Demand Management Certified Professionals (TDM-CP) in the Midwest.
Chris currently serves as Board President for Yellow Springs Home, Inc., a community land trust operating in SW Ohio, and has been on the Board of the Doan Brook Watershed Partnership in Cleveland since 2010. He serves as Vice President of the Midwest Chapter of the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT) and recently joined the Board of the Center for TDM, both of which are non-profits working to advance transportation demand management and improve mobility options across the U.S. Chris is also an active member of the American Planning Association, Congress for the New Urbanism, Bike Cleveland, and Bike Miami Valley.
Chris is a native of Cleveland and lives and works in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
