Partners in Science

In the fall of 2023, I was fortunate to have been selected by the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, for their Partners in Science program with Boise State University! The INSPIRE program at Boise State offers middle and high school teachers from across the Treasure Valley a paid opportunity to work alongside faculty and students in their research laboratories. For two summers because of this generous grant opportunity, I worked on a research project within the Bittleston Research Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences.  The most important goal is for teachers to learn the current scientific and engineering skills and procedures used in collegiate research, then to introduce and use them in secondary classrooms.  This effort provides students with a route to the research in our region for community solutions through higher education and scientific research to protect and conserve our planet.  This amazing program inspired a field trip hosted my the Bittleston Lab Group at BSU for all our Biology students at Fairmont! It also gave my classroom a $5000 grant for equipment to teach students the same research skills I used while studying sagebrush conservation during my two summers working withDr Bittleston and her phenomenal team. I am thrilled to have been immersed in my professional passion at Boise State again!  The opportunity will make my students' experience in science so much more investigative, relevant, and directly connected to opportunities for  future in many STEAM fields in our Idaho communities!
