(do your best with answering them now as you can always have another go later on)
Here is a video for you to watch on the great Mo Farah- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hI2eM2YYwS0
Task 1- What different exercises do you think Mo Farah would do to make sure his cardiovascular endurance was the best it could possibly be?
Mr Walker has decided that he wants to become a long distance runner like Mo Farah, what exercises and fitness routine do you think he would need?
Think about exercise, muscles he would be using and the healthy foods he would have to eat (no chocolate, sweets or McDonalds!). Draw these exercises out and write down your training plan for him on a piece of paper to share with Mr Walker online or when you next see him.
Task 2- Have you completed the ‘beep test’ before? Here’s a video of what it is and how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lroAhVO83iI
You can create your own version of the beep test without a 20m running track, simply set out some cones 5m or 10m apart and see how many times you can touch the cones from end to end in 5 minutes, compare your score to the other people in your household to find out who has the best cardiovascular endurance.
Task 3- Complete this workout session to improve your cardiovascular endurance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ml6cT4AZdqI&list=PL7Ax6CP9_hgP2jLYSO8sJEw-HANHHJcUJ&index=2&t=0s
Task 4- Questions:
Complete the following questions online here: https://forms.gle/fTmEcT2A9cSbNov4A
If you use this form then I’ll be able to see your answers and it’ll let me know that you’ve completed your PE work for this week!
How did you feel throughout and at the end of this workout session? Why were you breathing heavily? What happened to your heart rate? Why?
Can you think of any other sports that need high levels of cardiovascular endurance? Clue- think exercising for a long period of time. Here is a video of one sport if you need some help https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLDm254jtZA
What is the difference between cardiovascular endurance and muscular endurance?
What would happen to your body if you tried to run a marathon without any training?
