Sharing YouTube Videos on Blackboard

A recommended practice of using video content in Blackboard is to publish videos to YouTube as unlisted videos, then share the YouTube video links in your courses by adding Web Links in a content area.

Creating Videos

Your instructional videos can be created in several ways: Narrated PowerPoint presentations, Zoom or Google Meet session recordings, screen capture video recordings. Recordings on your phones can also be uploaded via YouTube app on your phones.

Publishing Video to YouTube

  1. Log into your Gmail account (College's email). Click Google Apps icon to open Google Apps window.





  1. Scroll down and click on the YouTube icon, this will open your YouTube account. Log into YouTube account as needed.

3. Once in YouTube, Click Create icon ( the video camera icon) to add a new video

4. Select Upload video

5. Click SELECT FILES (you may select more than one video files at a time). Browse to locate the video files you want to upload, then click Open. Video uploading starts processing. This process will convert your video into YouTube video format

6. Once video is processed, next step, you will have option to rename the title of your video.

Click Next to continue

7. In Audience section, select No, It's not made for kids

8. In Visibility section, under Save or publish, select Unlisted, then click Save.

Your video is published.




9. On the next screen, click on the Copy icon to copy the shareable link.


Adding Video Links in Blackboard

  1. Access your course, and open a content area where you want to post the video link.

Mouse over to Build Content Tab, then select Web Link

2. In the Web Link Information page, name the link, then click the URL field and paste the YouTube video link.

3. Click Submit.
