About Blackboard Course Site

A Blackboard course is automatically created for every course at Bloomfield College with class roster enrolled each semester. The roster is automatically updated as the registration changes.

Merging Sections

If you teach multiple sections of the same course, you can merge them together so you just need to manage one course site and allow students in all sections have the access to the same course materials. Contact CTLT for assistance.

The Basics

• Browser Support
  Is your browser supported? Run a browser check. We recommend you use Chrome or Firefox. Internet Explorer is no longer not supported.

• The Blackboard Content Editor
  The editor is the default editor for content area and discussions.

• Making a Course Available to Students
  By default, all courses in Blackboard are not accessible to students. Instructor must make courses available so that students can access their Blackboard courses.

• Posting a Syllabus
  Post a course syllabus from your computer to Blackboard course by an attachment.

• Adding Content
  Instructor can add various types of content to their course sites.

• Using folders to organize course materials
  Content Folders are handy for organizing materials within a particular content area.

• Sending Email
  An instructors can send emails to the entire class within Blackboard easily via email tool. All student email addresses are already in the system. Emails sent from within the curses are saved in Message Box.

• Viewing a Course’s Roster/Users
  Instructor can view the list of current course roster.

Notification Setting in Blackboard (Movie 01:16)

The notification system alerts users when events occur in their courses. Users can select to receive alert. Notifications are generated automatically whenever their associated events occur.
