Our philosophy is our 'why' behind our practice
OSHC educators' roles and responsibilities:
A combination of leadership and staff led selection of roles and responsibilities resulted in sharing the roles at the service.
Educators are encouraged to work to their strengths through carrying out their assigned roles and responsibilities.
Within each of these roles the responsibilities may be shared or delegated amongst staff, however the name next to a given role is the lead of that area. Whereby at each staff meeting all staff are afforded the opportunity to share with the team what they are currently working on within that area to update everyone.
This document is updated following any major staffing changes.
Each staff meeting has a dedicated time on the agenda for the Educational Leader. During this time Ben will challenge our beliefs on education and upskill our knowledge. He will ensure we reflect on practice to ensure we are operating at our true capacity.
Ben does an excellent job of implementing our planning cycle throughout staff meeting times, ensuring all educators are contining to use this framework at the forefront of their practice in our service.
The Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) is an essential live document to all OSHC services. This is the current process of creating our new QIP for the service. Each Monday between 12pm and 2pm all Leadership and Qualified staff members meet to discuss the QIP and the 7 quality areas of the National Quality Standard. This meeting provides an in depth discussion regarding key areas of the service, such as the philosophy, processes, strengths, areas for improvement and action needed.
A current goal for the QIP is for it to be displayed through an interactive document that all families of the service can access upon entering the OSHC.
By utilising the digital platform padlet (see image below), each staff member in attendance has the opportunity to add their own unique insights against all sub strands of each quality area. These ideas were then discussed in an open forum to inform the decisions placed into the QIP document.
Once a quality area has been fully completed, the findings will get shown to all staff during a staff meeting. Therefore, all staff can be across the QIP key points and add or adjust the document as necessary.
