Little Women is the beloved coming-of-age story of the March sisters - Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy - as they grow up in the shadow of the Civil War, discovering who they are and what they truly want out of life. Each sister dreams of something grand but life has its own way of shaping their stories.
At its heart, the play is about how love, family, loss, and resilience reveal deeper wishes we didn’t know we were making—and how God sometimes answers those wishes in ways we never expected. Through laughter, heartbreak, and the bonds of sisterhood, Little Women reminds us that the life we end up living may not look like the one we imagined, but can still be everything we need.

The Lee Theater is back to it's regular proscenium configuration! We loved performing in the round for the 24-25 season and it gave us the chance to play with composition and blocking in such a unique way but we couldn't keep that set up forever! There's no more 'grassy knoll' in the middle of the house or a gigantic tree or cave. You'll have to stay tuned to see what new scenic ideas Pete comes up with for this show!
BLC has a long tradition of creating new works and adaptations. Emily and Maren each thought that other adaptations lack some of the emotional heart they both love about the novel. It's a big story to try and economize down to a stage play (just ask them!) but they wanted to craft the play into something that would serve the BLC theatre department and showcase the talents of the program.
And ultimately, Emily and Maren love working together so then, why not? If you have other questions about the process, they'd love to chat more about it!
