Hi, I'm Emily
About Me
Emily Kimball (Playwright, Director, Costume Designer) is so happy to be bringing this classic to the Bethany stage!
She has served as Costume Designer and Costume Shop manager, responsible for everything costume related since Fall 2012. Taking on a new role as a director and full time faculty member in 2021, she has directed (and costumed) the Bethany productions of As You Like It (Spring 2025), The Servant of Two Masters (Fall 2024), Antigone (Fall 2023), The Game of Love and Chance (Spring 2023), The Snow Queen (Fall 2022), Black-Eyed Susan (Fall 2020), and a Musical Theatre Cabaret (Spring 2021). At Bethany, she has taught Costume Design, Costume Construction, Theatre History and Literature I and II, Directing I and II, and Makeup Design.
Emily holds a BA in Theatre from Bethany Lutheran College and an MFA in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Costume Design from Minnesota State University, Mankato. As a student, Emily first focused her pursuits on the stage performing, though later into her college career, the Lord led her to costume construction and a whole new path was laid before her. She continued to perform but also expanded her scholarship to costume design, which took her across town to MNSU for a Masters degree.
In her summers, Emily has worked at the New London Barn Playhouse in New London, NH on and off since 2011 after her first out-of-college job as Intern blossomed into Costume Designer, designing such shows as Jersey Boys, The Wedding Singer, Little Women, The Secret Garden, and more.
The 1994 movie is approximately "one-eighth of my personality" according to Emily (the other percentages belong to Pride and Prejudice, Ever After, Cinderella, and others).
In the rare moments of freedom away from the theatre, she enjoys knitting and embroidering, taking care of her plants, drinking lots of coffee, watching BBC dramas, writing plays, dreaming of travel, and basking in the sunshine with her dog Mr. Bingley.
Hi, I'm Maren
About Me
Maren Boucher (Playwright, Homemaker) is delighted to be adapting another story for Bethany's Theatre!
Maren is a stay-at-home mother to three rambunctious boys, so writing about girls has been an exciting change. This is her second adaptation with Emily for Bethany, the first being Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen, which was performed on the Bethany stage in Fall of 2022.
Maren received her BA in Literary Studies and Theatre from Bethany Lutheran College in 2020. At Bethany, she focused on the study of Dramaturgy, or theatre research. Since it was not a specific area of study at the school, Maren had a wonderful time working with her professors, who helped her build a schedule and support her drive for this area of theatre. Maren was the Dramaturg for several productions during her time at Bethany, including The Spiritual Tragedy of Dr. Faustus (Fall 2019), Letters to Anne of Green Gables (Spring 2019), Kiss Me, Kate (Winter 2019), The Importance of Being Earnest (Spring 2018), and The Women of Troy (Fall 2017). Maren performed in a few productions as well, but found her passion in research, playwriting, and directing.
After graduating, Maren worked at Bethany part-time as the Fine Arts Events Coordinator and married her husband, Reece Boucher, in 2021. Upon the birth of their first son in May of 2022, Maren left Bethany to be a full time homemaker. She and her husband now have three boys, ages 3, 2, and 5 months.
Maren has always been an avid reader, and grew up surrounded by many wonderful stories. Little Women was a favorite of hers and her sisters', be it in book, audio drama, or movie form. The 1994 film remains a source of frequent quotes to this day.
Maren still enjoys reading, writing, and being outdoors with her family. She also considers herself "crafty," and likes to have an embroidery project going most of the time. She is honored to share her love of this story with the Bethany stage.
