World Language Spanish

Mrs. Goncalves

Spring is finally here and we are ready to start planting some seeds. My family and I enjoy growing a little garden each year with our favorite flowers and even some vegetables. Last year, we were able to grow some cucumbers and tomatoes. I hope your family gets to enjoy sometime outdoors during this season!

Kindergarten

We are continuing to work on the farm. Students are learning different farm animal names and reading books about the farm. Students are learning a song called "Los POllitos" and they enjoy dancing around to it. Our center work will involve many manipulatives, puzzles, and practicing identifying and writing different animals.

First Grade

This month, we are inspired by the changing weather and continue to explore  our weather unit. We have been learning all about the different types of weather and we even learned a fun song that helps us practice saying the weather in Spanish. Students are working on a weather book, where they have to match the pictures to words, identify seasons and temperatures. As a class we are tracking weather and temperature.

Second Grade

Writing in our journals has been so much fun! We will continue writing in our journals with our MI CUERPO unit, a unit all about our body. Students have been learning new vocabulary with engaging songs, such as head, shoulders, knees and toes. Students have been engaged in activities of labeling and creating silly monsters with games.

Third Grade

Monarch butterflies and their migration to Mexico, is all we have been exploring. Students have mastered the lifecycle of a butterfly in Spanish, and we have read books related to the topic, such as Adios Oscar. A caterpillar who thinks he too will be flying to Mexico but soon discovers he is a moth. Finally, they have a virtual visit to Mexico and explored the many butterfly sites.

Fourth Grade

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, we are celebrating Mexico and exploring their Mexican food and cuisine. Students are learning how to make guacamole and salsa, identifying new vocabulary words and ingredients. Students have been able to recreate their own versions of guacamole and salsa.
