GALA CONCERT:
The festival will culminate in a final celebration performance which will be held on the afternoon of Monday 16th March at 2.30pm and should last around one hour. Tickets will be free of charge and do not need to be booked in advance. There will be a party at the school for both parents and students at 6pm and, if you would like to attend this, parents will need to make their own way there. Please bring photo ID to access both of these venues.
HOTELS:
Please note it is a FOBISIA rule that parents must not stay at the same hotel as the children during the festival, as this does have an unsettling effect upon the students. The British School New Delhi has recommended the Claridgest Hotel for parents (see information provided above).
FLIGHTS:
If you are planning to attend to concert to support your child, we would be extremely happy to see you there. We ask that you don't travel on the same outbound flight as the students to promote their independence. Obviously, if you are attending the Taj Mahal trip with us then you are welcome to book the same return flights.

For those family members who will be accompanying us for the Taj Mahal excursion, the cost for this will be 2,350,000 VND per person.
visa requirements
Any necessary visas and waivers for India are the responsibility of the participants’ parents. You may find the following link helpful:
insurance
The travel insurance for all students attending the festival covers a range of eventualities including personal accident, baggage loss and loss of travel documentation. Individual items are insured up to a maximum of US$300 so please do check the value of your child’s instrument and make extra arrangements if necessary.
medication
If your child needs to take medication with him/her on the trip, please put it in a bag clearly labelled with the student’s name, dosage and when and why it needs to be administered. All medication will then be kept by the trip leaders unless you agree for it to be self-administered. Please provide a doctor’s note to accompany the drug, so that at the airport we know what is being carried. During the festival there will be specialist nurse coverage provided by the host school.
equipment/packing list
Students will be allowed two bags for the trip, excluding their musical instrument. One small bag to be carried as hand luggage (usual school bag is recommended) and one larger bag to be checked in weighing no more than 30kg.
Large musical instruments may also need to be checked in as hold baggage. We would encourage you to measure your child’s instrument case in advance to check that it can be taken in the cabin. Instrument cases should not exceed 200cm (length) x 75cm (width) x 80cm (height).
Below is a suggested packing list for the check-in bag:
Try and pack as small and light as possible
BIS House T-Shirt (should be worn for travelling to the festival)
Blue BIS Performing Arts polo shirt (for travelling home)
Instrument and spare strings/rosin (if in Orchestra)
Black music folder
Light jacket/fleece
Set of clothes, underwear and socks for each day plus a spare set (layers are recommended as it could be quite cool indoors)
India-inspired outfit for FOBISIA's Got Talent
Plain white t-shirt & old trousers which you don't mind being covered in paint for Holi (Festival of Colours) celebration. Also, a plastic bag to keep them in afterwards.
Smart clothes for the party after the concert
Comfortable shoes / trainers
Toiletries
Pyjamas / nightwear
Sunscreen and hat
Medications (to be given to Trip Leader in advance)
Water bottle (empty)
For the Performance:
Black trousers or long black skirt (must cover knees)
Black socks/tights & black dress shoes (no flip flops)
*Please note that all students and teachers will receive a performance polo shirt to wear for the Gala Concert once we arrive in New Delhi.
valuables
Passports and all travel documentation should be handed to the trip leaders before arrival at the airport.
Spending money for the trip is optional and we request that a maximum of US$50 is taken. This should be changed into Indian Rupees (approximately 3,500 INR) before the trip as staff cannot be responsible for changing money.
We recommend that no valuables should be taken on the trip. Any valuables that are taken will not be the responsibility of the staff. Children are not allowed to bring mobile phones with them.
expectations of student behaVIOUR
This trip is a school event and as such, normal expectations regarding student behaviour apply. Whilst we do not envisage any problems in this respect, below are some key points which must be adhered to:
Students must always follow instructions of any teacher at the festival and this will include teachers from other FOBISIA schools.
Students must not, under any circumstances, break away from the rest of their allocated group.
All groups must always return to specified meeting points at the arranged times.
No student should at any time be in the bedroom of another student, unless agreed by a member of staff.
EMERGENCY CONtact details
We will be contacting the school each day to report on the days activities and our progress. We will endeavour to share photos with you each day but obviously student care is paramount and so this is not always possible.
In case of emergency you can email Ms Beth or contact Ms Dee on 0938625728.
Please do not contact us unless it is a real emergency.
