"The Teacher:

• Systematically gathers input from students in order to monitor and adjust instruction, activities, or pacing to respond to differences in student needs.
• Adjusts instruction and activities to maintain student engagement.
• Uses discreet and explicit checks for understanding through questioning and academic feedback."

• Are assessment activities logically spaced and conducted seamlessly throughout the lesson?
• Is data from formative assessments used to immediately direct instruction to meet the needs of the students?
• Are assessments carefully crafted to accurately monitor student mastery rather than regurgitation of content?
• Are the varieties, levels, and frequency of assessments appropriate to the lesson, appropriately placed within the content to prevent misconceptions, and acted upon to directly influence instruction in the classrom?
