Badges

Sleeve Badges

Students can earn badges for many different things.

If you in a team, event or a group of students once you have completed 2 terms of service (e.g as a Librarian) or completed an event (e.g. Cricket Zone Day) the teacher in charge of the event will email the list of participants to Mrs Dalton who will arrange your badge.

Badges and certificates will be created and handed out at assembly. The exception for this is Grooming badges. Team Leaders will hand these out in class.

Sleeve Badges should be on one sleeve for each year; e.g. Year 7 on the Right Sleeve and Year 8 on the Left.

House Badges

When you start each year, your whānau teacher will put you into house groups. Each student gets 2 badges, one for their sleeve on their jumper and one on their PE uniform. This can be ironed on the sleeve of their PE shirt.

House Captains and Vice House Captains receive a sleeve badge as well for their service. House Captains also receive a pin to wear on their school jacket.

If you do some outstanding work, your teacher might send you for a Principal's award. Once you have collected the following number, you are able to apply for a Principals Award Sleeve Badge.

You can choose to write a formal letter or you may take some extra time and effort to make a fancy card.

Once you have written your letter, you can post it in Mrs Sutton's post box in the office.

*Please note that letters must be handwritten or printed out. We will not be accepting letters in the form of Emails or shared docs this year (unless we go back into lockdown!).

Special Badges and Awards

Pin on badges are given to House Captains, Executives, Councillors and Librarians as well as sleeve badges.

Students who do something exceptional in the community may be awarded a special BIS badge. These may be for going above and beyond in demonstrating our school vision or for exceptional citizenship or outstanding leadership. This decision is made by Mrs. Sutton, Mrs. Bush or Whāea Mel. Students can wear these badges on their school jacket.
