Hello! My name is Ciara O’Brien and I am a junior at Binghamton University where I am pursuing a double major in PPL and Environmental Policy with a minor in Spanish. On campus, I work as the environmental protection campaign manager with NYPIRG, a club centered around activism, education, and community service. With the club, I have organized a panel on food insecurity in Broome County, hosted downtown cleanup events, and hosted an end-of-the-year food drive to reduce food waste. Last year, I completed an internship with Binghamton University Food Sustainability where I worked alongside other interns to improve the sustainability efforts on Binghamton's campus.
Future career aspiration
I have always been passionate about fighting for social change along with mitigating the impact that humans have on our natural environment. In the future, I would like to work in a collaborative profession that recognizes the intersectionality of environmentalism. Working for a more sustainable future means fighting for the equality of marginalized groups and reforming the systems we have in place that amplify these injustices and environmental issues.
