Bio:
Alan is currently a junior undergraduate at Binghamton University who is pursuing a double major in Environmental Planning and Music Performance.
Within the field of science, Alan has participated in a 3 semester long research stream where he had the experience of collaborating with a 5 member team to investigate the effects of salt deposition on the soil denitrifying bacteria community. During this endeavor, Alan and his group members compiled relevant data and knowledge, conducted experiments, analyzed and compiled results, and thus presented at poster seminars.
On a broader scope, Alan is skilled in leadership, conflict resolution, communication, and deductive reasoning through his experiences as a customer service representative, tutor, and teaching assistant. Furthermore, Alan also has experiences and knowledge in management with his experience as a marketing and advertising board member, a treasurer, and a secretary member on several on-campus organizations such as Change of Tone, Sound of Binghamton, and Gospel Choir.
Future Aspirations:
Alan aspires to become either a musician, a music educator, or an urban planner with a focus on sustainable urban planning and utilizing music in city spaces.
Overall, Alan plans to utilize his knowledge gained through his experience in Urban Ecology to aid him to become a well rounded personnel. More specifically, Alan is prepared to use his ecological skills acquired from Urban Ecology to assess and analyze the relationship that people have with music as well as the effect that music can have on people and their surrounding environments. Consequently, he plans to use this knowledge to better plan cities and to incorporate music to city planning.
