People First: The Foundation of Enduring Enterprise
People First: The Foundation of Enduring Enterprise
Convinced that lasting enterprise must be built upon the well‑being of its people, Wong placed employee welfare at the heart of his business philosophy. In 1963, he developed Haking Building in Quarry Bay, a purpose‑built complex that integrated production facilities with residential accommodation for staff. By offering affordable rents, housing subsidies, and a stable, supportive living environment, he enabled employees to settle securely and remain with the company for decades. Many of their children grew up in this community and later became professionals—doctors, engineers, and educators—contributing in turn to the wider society.
