Health & Safety

COVID GUIDELINES

As of 1/3/2022, the WA State Governor’s Office and Department of Health are NOT requiring players, coaches, or spectators to wear masks at training or games, although they may choose to wear one. Physical distancing among spectators is strongly encouraged. WA Youth Soccer will continue to follow the guidance of these two offices with regards to the health and safety of players.

Given the lack of access to vaccines for certain age groups and varying levels of community transmission, the club supports any player who chooses to wear a mask.  Should any new guidelines come out that effect players, coaches, or spectators at training or games, this document will be updated and redistributed.

Basic Rule

If a player is not allowed to go to school for a COVID-related reason, they are not allowed to play.  That said, the club provides the following protocols, consistent with School Districts, Health Depts. and the CDC.

Self Health Check

Players, coaches, staff and spectators MUST perform the following check before every club event. If you answer YES to ANY of the following questions, you MUST stay home.

COVID Cases and Exposures

COVID Cases: A coach or player with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 must isolate for at least 5 days from symptom onset or positive test. They may return to play after day 5 (while wearing a mask through day 10) with:

Quarantine for Close Contacts: An unvaccinated coach or player who believes they have had close contact to someone with COVID-19 must not go to training, games, or other events for at least 5 days. They may return with a negative test after 5 days, while wearing a mask through day 10.  A vaccinated coach or player does not need to quarantine after a close contact but should wear a mask for 10 days and get a test around 5 days after exposure.

Exposures: A high-risk close contact is defined as an exposure to someone who is less than 6 feet away for greater than 15 minutes cumulative in a 24-hour period. Outdoor soccer is generally considered low risk, but exposures can occur depending on the circumstances.
