People all over the world have grown susceptible to becoming homeless. I believe homelessness is one of the hardest things that anyone can go through. In my research I found that many others choose to think that homeless people choose to be homeless. That they are just freeloaders living off the land. That they should just get a job. What they don’t know is that many homeless people spend every moment struggling to find their next meal, thinking about where they will be able to take their next shower and where they will sleep on a night to night basis. In my research I was saddened to hear that so many people worked so hard and yet were still homeless. Many homeless people try to see the positive in everyday life. They are thankful to have food to eat, somewhere to sleep, and have hopes that they will be able to get out of the shelters and get back on their feet. These are things that normal people take advantage of and would never see as a luxury. I myself get up from a comfy bed every morning and am able to shower, put on what I want to wear, do what I want to do...luxuries I will never take for granted again. In my presentation I focused around the questions of what I did to help the homeless, what COVID-19 has done to homelessness, who are more likely to become homeless, what happens in homeless shelters, and what the problem is with homelessness.
