Bowling Green Model United Nations Club

Prospective Members

Dear Bowling Green High Students,

I write to you today to warmly invite you to the BGHS Model United Nations Club.

Model United Nations, otherwise known as MUN, is an extraordinary extracurricular activity that simulates the United Nations.  The United Nations, referred to as collective security, is an active body that serves as a diplomatic organization for 193 member states globally to secure peace and international cooperation.  MUN is an opportunity for each and every student to attend conferences and gain skills such as negotiation, public speaking, debating, and many more.  While working to solve real-world issues and being more globally aware, students will gain lifelong friendships along the way!

MUN has been an eye-opening experience for me personally, and continues to encourage my growth in future awareness regarding international issues as well as expanding my options in my upcoming college education.

So, if you would like to help change the world in your high school career, practice gaining abilities that transfer to the real world, or even gain some experiences that will carry you with your entire career, I highly encourage you to join us at our scheduled meetings every Wednesday after school.  These are held in Madame Kern´s room until around 3:30.  I hope to see you there!

Sincerely,

Ashley Knowlton,

President of BGHS Model UN

BiGMUN IV

Each fall the Bowling Green High School Model United Nations club organizes a learning conference where members can test the waters in committees designed for exploration and discussion. The conference is held at Bowling Green State University and is run by the club's advanced members.  Past scenarios for BiGMUN include the french revolution and the six day war. BiGMUN provides delegates with a unique learning experience and opportunities to develop their Model UN skills. Participants adopt the role of characters and countries in historic situations and debate to solve interesting issues. BiGMUN VI will take place virtually on April 19th, 2021. It is a conference like no other and a great way to get started in the MUN world!

MiniMUN

MiniMUN is our club's newest edition to the Model UN repertoire. This conference is built for junior high students to get a taste of what Model UN is all about. Hosted at Bowling Green High School performing arts center, it also serves as a training ground for our club members learning how to run conferences. The conference is a good opportunity for future members to learn what Model UN is all about and for current members to expand their understanding of chairing and working in a crisis staff. MiniMUN III will be run on April 30th, 2022 for the Bowling Green Middle School Students to learn what Model UN is all about.
