Miami University's MUN Conference is a smaller conference we attended in spring 2022. It is a three day conference where students bus down and stay in a hotel for two nights. The event itself is usually held at Miami University. `Miami offers both General Assembly and Crisis committees. While somewhat more advanced than the University of Dayton's conference, this is a great choice for newer delegates who want to improve their skills.
The Harvard Model UN conference is one of more prestigious conferences offered. It is a three day conference where students fly to Boston and stay in a hotel near Harvard. The event itself is usually held in a hotel. We attend every two years, and typically take our senior (or more experienced) members. The benefits of being a part of this trip are numerous. Not only are students given a first hand look at some of the top MUN clubs in the globe, but they also interact with students from countries all over the world, and enjoy a high-level conference. Last year students who attended were also able to participate in a self-guided walking tour of the Harvard campus and enjoy a restaurant in Boston that had been featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives!
The Model UN of the University of Chicago hosts this conference each year (MUNUC) in December and our bi-yearly attendance challenges our older members. Each time we attend, we take between 8-12 of our seasoned members who apply. After a short train ride we participate in this four day conference and get to see the grand sights of Chicago. Because MUNUC is an international conference, our students interact on a truly global level. Attendance is an experience we hope all our members eventually get as it is an great experience for those who participate.
MUNUC was an unforgettable experience. Two of my brothers both attened this confrence before me, and both came back with high praise. Excited, I embarked on the journey Sophomore year, and it lived up to its name. This conference gave inspiration and lessons I still draw on. I loved this challenging experience and the city with it.

The Ohio State University Model United Nations Conference (OSUMUN) is attended by both beginners and experienced members of the BGHS MUN club. The event lasts three days and goes overnight, however the conference is held at OSU, unlike Harvard MUN. It has historically been the favorite conference of members! Members are able to participate in fun and engaging topics for their conferences, and OSUMUN also gives an opportunity for newer members to dip their toes in a more serious event, while older members often show off their experience! As it is held in the Spring, OSUMUN is often one of the last larger MUN conferences we attend, and has often served as the last hurrah for senior members, and a way for new members to show off what they have learned throughout the year! This event also allows students to take a walking tour of the OSUMUN campus.
Unlike many of the other conferences we attend, the Ohio Northern University's Conference (ONU) is usually held earlier in the year and is one of the fist conference new members get to attend. ONU offers new delegates a great learning experience but is also a good place for more experienced delegates to hone in and practice their skills. ONU is a unique conference because it always ends with a joint general assembly for all delegates at which all final voting takes place. In past years, BGHS delegates have taken home the trophy for distinguished delegation!
The University of Dayton hosts a conference each year in November. We take a day trip down for the third conference of the year for most of our delegates. This conference is great mid-level conference allowing our members to come into full stride. For some, this is their first experience as a dual delegation developing important team work and friendships that help our club thrive. This conference also requires position papers which are a great way to practice formal writing skills and make sure delegates are fully prepared.
