Happy Palm Sunday!
What a blessing it was to kick off our week with 52 kids in the 1st through 5th grade class! We talked about Palm Sunday and the significance behind that triumphant entry on the donkey that had never been traveled on. Great discussion was had about expectations and how we can react when the unexpected happens rather than what we expected. The K-2nd graders and 3-5th graders had a chance to read through scripture starting with Jesus's entry and working through the Passover, the importance of the Last Supper and Jesus washing the feet of his disciples, to how he was sold for a mere 30 silver coins, to being buried in the rich man's tomb. It was incredible to watch these kids read through the actual events and feel some of the emotions that Holy week can often bring. In the K-2nd grade group students had different reflections of times that the unexpected happend; Christmas or Birthday gifts not being exactly what they wanted, all the way up to having one expectation of what their new baby sibling would be and finding out that it was in fact the opposite gender than what they were expecting. In the 3rd-5th grade group students reflected through the eyes of their parents. This is a true testimony to the work you do at home- A blurb from that conversation, " Last year we went to build an awesome patio and found out that we had other issues that needed taken care of before we could build that patio- but my mom stayed calm and faithful and we took care of the unexpected items and still are going to get the patio in the end so it worked out. " What a sweet story that we can rejoice in together on the hard days- YOUR KIDS ARE WATCHING AND LISTENING AND YOU'RE DOING A GREAT JOB!
PRE-K/K-
Kiddos in our Pre-K and Kindergarten room learned about Palm Sunday and Jesus's triumphant entry into Jerusalem. They learned about the story behind why palms were waved and had a chance to watch the story and rejoice together as they heard shouts of praise and Hosanna!
