After collaborating with our team (5 teachers and 1 ECE), our instructional coach, board consultants, principal and superintendent we submitted our TLLP proposal to the Ministry of Education in November 2016. In March 2017 we found out that our proposal had been accepted. YAY! We would be getting some funds to help us to implement inquiry-based learning in our French immersion classrooms. The grant would allow for teacher release time as well as funds to purchase technology, coding devices, shared and guided reading resources as well as materials to inspire creative thinking.
After the initial excitement wore off we were faced with "Ok, now what?". Thankfully TLLP, along with the Ontario Teacher's Federation, holds a yearly TLLP Training Session in Toronto for teachers which provides them with invaluable information to help guide TLLP participants to carry out their projects. Workshops included: "Practical Project Management", "Budget Basics", "Facilitating Professional Learning Sessions" to name a few.
The training session was a great way to connect with educators from all over Ontario. It was interesting to find out about everyone's projects and what they were going to be exploring with their teams. The atmosphere was uplifting and encouraging.
By the end of the training session we felt that we had a very long "to do" list but we were excited and we had a clear idea of where to start.
