Love Food, Not Waste

Love Food Not Waste is a program where local garbage haulers, commercial composters, the City of Eugene and area businesses team up to make sure that food scraps turn into valuable compost instead of taking up space in our landfill. As of this year (2018-2019) in the Bethel School District, ALL of our schools participate in some form of composting. Fairfield and Malabon joined last year, with Malabon taking the full plunge into training not only kitchen staff, but students as well in the cafeteria. All those trained know that only food waste should be placed in compost collection containers rather than the regular garbage. These same food scraps can then be made into a rich compost that is used by local businesses and gardeners. It is a win-win for all!

See the City of Eugene’s website to learn more about how to get involved.
