Kicking off the new year, students have been learning the craft of opinion writing. Students were asked, "If zoos should exist?" While students had their initial thoughts, they have been developing their opinion and reasons through research.
Moving into spring, students are pivoting away from fact and towards more imagination! We have begun our study of American Tall Tales and the elements of this storytelling genre. Students will take what they've seen of the classics, such as: John Henry, Johnny Appleseed, and Sally Ann Thunder to create their own tall tale. The twist will be that their story will be how or why an American landmark came to be!
