ACCESS and Seal of Biliteracy

ACCESS for ELLs
New Jersey, as a member of the WIDA Consortium, uses the ACCESS for ELLs suite of assessments as a tool to measure English Language Learners (ELLs) proficiency in the English language. Students are assessed in four domains: Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing.

NJ Seal of Biliteracy
The New Jersey State Seal of Biliteracy is an award given by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) in recognition of students who have attained proficiency in at least one language in addition to English by high school graduation. Students may test in the spring of their junior year or fall of their senior year and must adhere to all graduation requirements in order to qualify.
