Mr. Christopher Hondros considers his hometown Las Vegas, NV even though he was born in Phoenix, AZ and has lived all up and down the Western United States. He has been living in Berkeley for 2 years and 1 summer. His only fully fluent language is English. He has some conversational skills in Spanish and limited fluency in Greek. He teaches Chemistry and Integrated Science. Some of his responsibilities are mentoring and teaching science skills, and advising AHA students. He loves his job because it's never the same day-to-day: it's always a unique experience. He teaches Greek folk dance and studies Byzantine music for fun. He also watches a lot of sports ( his favorite ones being soccer, college football and baseball). He chose to teach MLP students because he likes working with people from different backgrounds and cultures. It also helps him develop better skills as a teacher and he can continually reflect on his practices and see where he can improve. In the MLP program, he would like to learn who all his students are so they can work together, learn together, and be successful together as global citizens. So far, he loves working with the teachers, tutors and students because it is a family-type atmosphere. Finally, he would like students and families to know that he is expecting his first child in December.
