Anna Maine is from Chebeague Island, ME. She’s been teaching at Berkeley High for 2 years, so this is her third year. She speaks Spanish, a little bit of Arabic, and English. She teaches ELD 5 now, but she has taught ELD 4 in the past. Ms. Maine also teaches American Literature and 12th grade AVID. Her responsibilities are teaching students English like reading and writing and helping students get into college. She likes to read, write, be outside (hiking), music, concerts, and hanging with family and friends. Her favorite things about MLP are the diversity and community. Her favorite memory was the holiday celebration in December 2019. Students from all the ELD classes came to H207 and had a party. There was a lot of food, music and dancing. Some students were playing games, while other students were taking pictures and hanging out. Ms. Maine felt EXTRA happy when her students stayed after the party to help clean up. She loves to teach in this program because she learns about languages, cultures and individual students. She wants people to know that she is always here to help!
