Ms. Amanda Toporek ( But prefers to be called Ms, T at school ) is from New York City. She has been teaching at BHS for four years and this is her first year in MLP. She speaks English and a little bit of Spanish. She teaches Government and Economics. Her biggest responsibility is to make students feel confident about themselves and she feels proud because she sees her students improvement. She likes to go out, read books while listening to the audiobook, and ride her bike on a sunny day. She chose to teach MLP students because while she was teaching in AHA last year, the students who transferred from MLP to AHA would talk about how MLP is a strong community. They helped one another and she loved how united the program seemed. From MLP she wants to learn more about how special the program is and so far she liked how everybody supports each other and students are so close with each other. Ms. T likes to let families and students know that you can reach her out anytime. She likes to support her students, and is grateful to be in the program.

A few words from Ms. T herself:
A few things about me: I go by Ms. T with students (or T for short). I love teaching Government; it was my major in college and I am constantly thinking about political systems and ways we can empower our young people to make change. Working with seniors brings me so much joy. I think it is an exciting transition year for our students and I really enjoy spending this year of decision making, reflection, and closure with students. I am so thrilled to be teaching in the Multilingual Program. I've been teaching in AHA for a few years (and still do) and we work with many students transitioning out of the MLP. They all have always spoken so highly of their experience in the MLP and have such wonderful friendships, support systems, and brilliance from participating in this program. I feel lucky now to be on the inside :)
