Part 1 : Move-In and Orientation
Whether you are moving in on or off campus, you will most likely arrive a few days prior to orientation to move and sette in. Each UC have different days for move in as well as move in systems. Research the applicable UC to learn more about their move in procedure at each respective UC website. Linked below will be counted for Berkeley's move in. To learn more about housing, check out the Housing Logistics Page!
Note : This does not count towards commuter students from home.
Orientation first initates with online courses provided for you in an online checklist in your enrolled school's webportal. You will take online modules to prepare for class enrollments, transfer prep, and school safety training. You will eventually attend in-person orientation about a week prior to the start of the new school year! This is a good time to explore the new campus or surrounding city.
Note : More information will given about this for perspective UC Berkeley students
on the New to Berkeley Page!
Part 2 : Class Enrollment and Club Applications
Before your enrollment date, review your degree audit and course catalog to plan your schedule and identify required classes, keeping in mind that some courses may have prerequisites or limited seats. On your assigned enrollment day, log into your student portal (such as MyUCLA, CalCentral, or TritonLink) and register for classes as early as possible, as popular courses fill up quickly. If a class is full, join the waitlist and have backup options ready, while also staying in touch with advisors for potential course substitutions.
Note : Counselors are hard to reach at this time. Consider checking school websites!
Joining clubs and student organizations at a UC is a great way to meet people, develop skills, and get involved on campus. Most clubs have open membership, meaning you can simply sign up at club fairs, through student portals, or by attending their first meeting. However, some organizations, such as honor societies, competitive teams, or leadership groups, may require an application process that includes a written application, interviews, or tryouts. For professional or academic organizations, you might need to submit a resume, statement of interest, or proof of academic standing. It’s best to research clubs early, attend club fairs , attend info sessions, and apply by the deadlines to secure your spot.
